Fck it. Just going to identify as agender as a GC feminist.

I'm technically agender anyway as I choose to not believe in gender woo.

If males can infiltrate feminism by saying they're women I'm infiltrating transgendersism by identifying as agender.

If I'm asked my gender identity why shouldn't I say this, it's technically true according to stonewall.

Quite like the idea of being a double agent of sorts....

D’you know, there’s nothing that all this gender identity stuff reminds me of more, than the hysteria after Princess Diana died. It’s like a whole generation of people have lost their collective heads to some kind of mass irrationalism.

Ah

I see
As a gc woman I'm not allowed to be agender

Well fuck that

Who are you to say I'm posting in bad faith?

I declare myself to be agender

If you disagree, I declare that you're transphobic as agender falls under the stonewall umbrella

Transphobic bigot!!

Eh - are you alright?

Where did I say you cant be agender or posting in bad faith...?

JKRowlingsCat · 26/06/2022 16:08

Yes! I think I'll do the same....

I don't think you are posting in good faith, Places. There seems to be a real (unsubtle) attempt to lure other posters into making the mistake of using terminology that, apparently, isn't allowed on MN (or perhaps just on this particular part of MN). That's rather spiteful and mean, if you don't mind me saying so.

However, I'll answer your questions, re why are people trans - my views.
I think people believe in gender ideology for many reasons. Some are genuinely dysphoric about their own biological and genetic makeup, and I assume there's probably many actual "reasons" for that which I also assume they explore with therapeutic services before they embark on their transition. I think other reasons will vary, from social contagion all the way to trying to escape previous abuses and into those who enjoy various sexual fetishes. Reasons are, I imagine, as individual as, well, individuals. There may well be many people who have multiple factors combining to create their belief that they somehow will be happier or more content pretending to be a different organism from that which they are. I'm also sure there's a proportion that just enjoy having some sort of "power" over others - the power to compel speech, etc etc. As to how those numbers break down, you'll have to do your own research on that.

The cut and thrust of it is how far do we expect the rest of society to bend in order to accommodate these different individuals and their individual needs and wants. I propose that some individuals will be easier to accommodate than others, that some accommodations will be seamless and natural and the blend will be easy. Other accommodations will be jaggy and cause grazes, scrapes and cuts, leaving scars and scabs on other parts of society, in other words, these accommodations will cause some harm to others. Some accommodations will cause a lot of harm to others, depending on circumstances.

I don't personally believe that other people should be asked (or rather, told) to make sacrifices to their own wellbeing (mental, physical, emotional) and lifestyles in order to accommodate another individual's needs and wants.

I expect the thread has moved on since I started to type this, but it was asked, and I've answered as best I can.

I dont think I needed to lure anyone - the above poster implied it was about sex. And on the subject of good faith, if you think im not in good faith, you are suggesting I've come on just to wind up to get people banned - even i'm not that sad. And I'm not sad enough to spend my Sunday afternoon engaging with people unless I was generally interested in trying to get my head round a view I just can't work with. My point was only ever that I'd be banned for using the word transphobia should someone press report, yet some quite frankly vulgar implications have been allowed.

I take your post on board, and I thank you for it. I'm really not a troll.

No-one has posted anything transphobic at all on here. Transphobia is intolerance of trans people, that’s not at all what’s been going on.

Saying that innate gender is unevidenced is not transphobic. Saying that everyone is non-binary is not transphobic. Even mocking the ludicrous number of arbitrary gender labels isn’t.

To put it bluntly, again, mocking the religious beliefs that are being deliberately promoted with the aim of eroding women’s rights is not an attack on trans people.

No, any kind of -phobia is negative attitudes, assumptions or actions towards one group of people

The poster above who cleverly implied its simply about sex - thats transphobic. Claiming anyone who is trans must have gender dysphoria - transphobic. Mocking and laughing at someone because they are trans - transphobic.

The fact you think trans as a concept has been invented to erode women is so self indulgent I don't even know where to start.

Just curious. You mentioned “tonight”.

You’re not in the UK then Place?

My arm hurts from that reach. Why do you ask?

Conflictedunicorn · 26/06/2022 15:59

Back to my original point. the subject really isnt funny.

I say it is and I identify as the god of humour so my word on the matter is final.

Because it's a transphobic post and yet if someone complained I'd get the boot.

You could be birdgender which would encompass gentu and gander?

Best not. Someone might mishear that as third gender and think I was being anti binary.

Conflictedunicorn · 26/06/2022 15:53

placewherewebelong · 26/06/2022 15:52

I could ask the same of other posters.

The sad things I have all of the above. @placewherewebelong then why didn’t you share them rather than insulting people and scolding them?

What was transphobic? Please point our where I have shown an irrational fear or hatred of transpeople.

@placewherewebelong why would you think that? I can do, say and think exactly as I please within the riles of the site. I know it really really annoys you but IDRGAF 😍

Thanks. Others may (and have) called it impolite, but I think it’s the right approach.

I feel quite insulted by posters such as the one here turning up without a coherent argument, the ability to honestly respond, or the intention to discuss things in good faith.

The sad things I have all of the above.

placewherewebelong · 26/06/2022 15:48

PomegranateOfPersephone · 26/06/2022 15:41

Are you trying to get posters to say something which might break the talk guidelines and get a deletion? Or just looking for screenshots to share elsewhere and show how mean and bigoted we are?

Eh? who do you think is remotely interested?
FWIW, I'm a big MN fan. we might have all been ridiculous tonight but I like a space where we can all share views in confidence. I recently wrote a review about how much i value that space.

So no, I don't screenshot.

FemmeNatal · 26/06/2022 15:48

viques · 26/06/2022 15:45

Actually, scrub gander, I think I prefer penguins, so I am now gentu.

Isn’t that Pingu?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 15:48

If I'm not a gander or a goose am I agander?

Conflictedunicorn · 26/06/2022 15:47

I am definitely also sungender because of my sunny personality ☀️

I’m still trying to settle on pronouns but I’m thinking sol/souls/solself
