Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Fck it. Just going to identify as agender as a GC feminist.

I'm technically agender anyway as I choose to not believe in gender woo.

If males can infiltrate feminism by saying they're women I'm infiltrating transgendersism by identifying as agender.

If I'm asked my gender identity why shouldn't I say this, it's technically true according to stonewall.

Quite like the idea of being a double agent of sorts....

I think so. I really think that some people need religious beliefs and practices. This is an aspect of human culture which has been present in every time and place. It seems that we can’t do without it and when the old ones die out new ones emerge.

If only it were possible to take the good parts of religion which satisfy the needs many people have and leave the more harmful parts. It never seems to exist in an entirely benevolent way, at least not for long.

Amazing how they are always, always, deeply misogynistic.

Belovedfool · 26/06/2022 17:23

It's always corrupted at some point, isn't it? I suspect that's what we call "human nature". The theory is good, but in practice we are, essentially, just like all the other elements of the living world, plant and animal - all scrabbling over each other to try to get to the light and food. It's pretty basic, when it comes down to it.

I have been pondering recently, about how social media, and purity spirals, particularly when it comes to trans ideology, are replacing the hole that religion has left.

There are so many parallels, and it's left me wondering if maybe a lot of humans really do need that sort of thing in order to be able to live their lives.

Not being able to question anything, the sacred castes, being told you are a terrible person if you are a non-believer, the sense of 'belonging' that it seems to give people, the mantras, the threats of 're-education' if you are a heretic, the misogyny.....it's all there, its just packaged differently.

That's a really good point. There must be a need within us, as it's such a universal experience over time and space.

Oh yes.....yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

Thank you, this has been percolating in my mind for ages and you've put it perfectly.

That’ll be the disingenuity, the twisting of others words, the goading, the insults and the outright lies.

if you say so.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 17:08

Of course it's true.

But you are labelling everyone with an opinion that you don’t like as transphobic. You are being very hypocritical.

not true.

ThickCutSteakChips · 26/06/2022 17:07

@placewherewebelong You are in FWR on Mumsnet - calling 'transphobia' here is not going to shut anyone down or have them begging for forgiveness. Most of us have been here too long for that crap.

Conflictedunicorn · 26/06/2022 16:59

So I presume you also object to drag queens and Panto Dames then? Or is mocking women ok in your book? All the male comedians making fun of women, I presume you go and shout at them like you’ve shouted at us?

Could you go through all the PP who accused me of putting words in their mouth and straw manning..and then wonder if thats what you are doing?

CandyLeBonBon · 26/06/2022 17:06

Oh and I mock religious fundamentalist and flat earth ideologies too. I'm sure you're a lovely person but it you spout any if that stuff at me and believe it, I'm going to take it with a large pinch of salt and firmly resolve to not take you seriously.

CandyLeBonBon · 26/06/2022 17:04

but by mocking the ideology, you are mocking them.

Nope. I'm drawing attention to the the fact that the language is becoming ever more ridiculous. Pointing that out is not mocking people, it's recognising that the emperor isn't actually wearing clothes at all, and refusing to pretend that he is. That's not mocking that pointing out objective reality.

FemmeNatal · 26/06/2022 17:00

placewherewebelong · 26/06/2022 16:37

Not really. I can't stand this constant assertion that an opinion on a global topic somehow makes you some type of person.

It doesn't.

I might vehemently disagree with people i know about a variety of topics. Doesn't change my opinion of them.

Shutting women up? oh. watch, the wee gang of MN will be after you (oh no they wont, cause its only OK to shut women up when they disagree!)

But you are labelling everyone with an opinion that you don’t like as transphobic. You are being very hypocritical.

I just dont agree wtih the mocking of trans people. It's that simple.

I've seen people making fun of the language and terminology used within the trans/nb community. I haven't seen any attacks on trans people specifically though? I agree the language surrounding this whole issue is muddy, and obfuscates reality. It IS ridiculous that you can no longer define a woman and that these circular arguments render rational conversation impossible. That deserves mockery imo. But no one has mocked trans people.

FemmeNatal · 26/06/2022 16:56

placewherewebelong · 26/06/2022 16:29

Could you show me examples of this?

Maybe not those specific ones, but here’s a page showing the great number of things that have been described as transphobic.

I doubt you are honest enough to read it before responding, but please, at least give it a try.

Google is your friend. Enjoy. No it wasn’t Twitter. And you still haven’t explained how I , who according to you, falls under the umbrella of trans, can be a transphobe? As a sungender, I am classed as trans and can mock the ideology if I wish? Or are you saying these genders do not count as trans and therefore mocking them is fine? And you can’t say I’m not sungender or that’s transphobic and invalidating my identity. Self ID says I can be sun gender if I say I am.

disingenous.

I'd like to know where dogs and weather are transphobic.

how come I, a transphobe, according to you, know this and you, a so called trans ally don’t. Could it be you are not a trans ally, but a misogynist just coming here to get their kicks shouting at women? I’ll accept your apology for calling me a transphobe any time you like BTW. (That’s 3 more letters for you )

Not answered it though, have you? Let me guess - was it someone on twitter?

you called me a transphobe because I won’t agree with you. This comment right here shows you’re a hypocrite.

No, I didnt. I said you're a transphobe based on your views. Nothing to do with not agreeing with me.

I'm over on another thread where I will fight womens' rights to have an abortion til the day I die. On that topic, I'm behind women always.

I give in. Just to shut @placewherewebelong up. The three letters were WTF. Happy now? Now please explain why they are transphobic or why your mind immediately jumped to me being a transphobe because I said I could think of 3 letters. You’ve really shown yourself there havent you?
