The FiLiA conference is in Cardiff this year …

…and it will be BRILLIANT. Saturday 22- Monday 24 October 2022.

It’s a fabulous opportunity to meet, learn from and share with like-minded feminists. If you don’t know anyone when you go, don’t worry - you will by the end!

And if you’re wondering whether to come because of the possibility of protesters - yes, there were a bunch of misogynist pillocks with signs & chalks shouting outside our Portsmouth venue. But security is always a top priority, so don’t worry.

They’ve started announcing speakers! There’s going to be a session on Defending Women’s Sport with Fair Play for Women, Sharron Davies & Mara Yamauchi.

I've got my ticket - AND my ticket for the Saturday night disco. This'll be my third FiLiA and I can't wait. As others have said - it's totally mind-blowing / life-affirming / moving /powerful / fun / eye-opening / heart-rending / profound.

And it might well change your life!

@Worrysaboutalot - I did it on my own in a wheelchair with two children in 2018 (I think? manchester...). It was terrifying but we managed brilliantly 😁

FiLiA have sold nearly 900 tickets for the conference so there aren't many spaces left! Speaker announcements start next Friday. The ones I know about so far are seriously exciting.

Yes. I also think the hotels will fill up quite quickly so it’s worth booking reasonably soon.

Thanks for the reminder Emperessuarus, I will have to book my ticket (what do we think the odds are that JKR will be speaking?)

Am I correct that the venue hasn't been announced yet? I know it's Cardiff but it would be good to know exactly where before booking a hotel.

I have my hotel room booked for my first Filia conference. I am excited and petrified, as it will be the first time I have been away from all my family in 15 years!

Plus first time travelling in a wheelchair so not looking forward to using the railways assistance services.

But as I keep telling my kids, there is nothing wrong with being frightened/worried/scared about something but shouldnt let those negative emotions stop you doing things.

So I am taking my own advice, pulling up my big girl pants and getting on with things 😊

Hope to knowingly or unknowingly meet some Mumsnetters there. 😁

I wanted to book early on and could only come for one day but without even a draft programme it was hard to choose a day. I'll take a look now but wish they could have a theme for each day in advance.
It sounds a great place to be with other women.

I love coming down to breakfast in whichever hotel & spotting familiar T-shirts! As you say, purpleboy, the atmosphere’s incredible. I always come back knackered but thoroughly recharged at the same time.
