Anti-trans spin from RMW

There is a difference between being supporting women’s rights and anti-trans.

In this article RMW is misrepresenting a whole raft of women who are fighting for women’s rights as being anti trans.

I'm not a lawyer either but does sub-judice apply to civil cases? However, I'd say it's ill-advised for one of the legal teams to weigh in with their opinions at this stage.

Penguintears · 31/05/2022 22:35

A lot of misrepresentation there. Also the surprising statement that RW thinks anyone seeing them in real life would be in no doubt as to their gender. I think that's true but not in the way that RW thinks...

This article needs the Jane Clare Jones multi-coloured pens of doom all over it, it's so inaccurate and wrong. Waves to RMW who I'm sure will have popped over to see our response to it.

Yes. When the burden of your opposition's case consists of demonstrating that the trans politics of the organisation you represent are misogynistic, self righteous and discriminatory it seems a bit counterproductive to give an interview demonstrating those qualities in spades..

Yup, it will serve RMW right if they find themselves on the wrong side of the questioning and having to call on their mother, dog, friend, and the rest of the entourage for support.

MMBaranova · 31/05/2022 22:28

Depends what on earth 'trans' is.

I'm doing my best to not use the word, and ask for clarification when others do in face to face conversation. It blurs things. So I try to use / clarify whether transexual, transnistrian, transgender, transalpine or whatever is meant. As I type this my father is transpyrenees trans.

I wouldn't expect balance from Novaramedia.

Plasmodesmata · 31/05/2022 22:23

What Mollyollydolly said. I am not a lawyer so I don't know if commenting in this way on ongoing cases is something that is normal / advisable though.

I think it is a bit questionable ethically and professionally tbh, given that the person is professionally involved and the case is ongoing. I wonder if the judge is aware?

TheBiologyStupid · 31/05/2022 22:21

What a shockingly one-sided article, and no mention from RMW about what prompted Allison Bailey to add Stonewall to the case. Disingenuous and disgraceful doesn't begin to cover it. I REALLY hope that AB wins her tribunal and puts them back in their place.

ZandathePanda · 31/05/2022 22:20

Is this allowed? I didn’t think they could talk about the case - isn’t there a summing up bit in late June?

Redshoeblueshoe · 31/05/2022 22:19

Yes RW was involved - they prepared the bundle - you know the one - that no one can follow.
Seems a bit wrong to do this when the tribunal isn't over.

CompleteGinasaur · 31/05/2022 22:17

Sorry, 'they'.

Mollyollydolly · 31/05/2022 22:16

True.

I'm surprised to see that interview when the case is still ongoing and RMW is involved.
