Firstly. Yes I name change a lot. I have lurked around for some time.....but I don't know anyone in real life who either knows the issues or cares. How do I find you? Google reveals nothing. Having gone back to work recently issues are becoming more real.....not in a good way. I am beds/ herts border.

Re the WRN you need to have a personal introduction from someone you know in real life who is in one of the groups.
I would pop down to Reformers Tree tomorrow and chat with people, everyone is very friendly! There is sometimes a visit to the pub afterwards.

I don’t know anyone in real life who gets it either. One friend, who always been somewhat holier-than-thou, is completely clueless: I made the mistake of discussing my anger at athletes like Lia Thomas with her, and she actually said to me ‘TWAW… no debate!’. At which I thought ‘Fuck off!’ but said something much more measured. I suspect I won’t hear from her again. I have made a small stand against it in work though, which resulted in a an apology from a colleague, so that was a small win.

I went back to work last year and felt rather panicked by the changes around me. Turns out that all but two that I’ve raised with the issue with completely get it. You will not be alone at work with your views.

I don't think there are any. My friend thinks I am a loon after I mentioned this whole issue to her and is still of the opinion that none of this actually happens.

My other close friend hasn't said as much but she has no issues and can't see any issues with TWAW.

I didn't understand till I stumbled on these boards a few years ago.

My DH just doesn't get it. Agrees in principle but I can tell he thinks it's not happening and I am going on about nothing.

I am noticing more and more on forms I fill in that sex has been replaced with gender.

Why can't they have sex and a separate drop down for gender? That's the scary thing, gender doesn't replace sex but it is being replaced everywhere.

It's so shit.

All this TWAW. They are not. If you are a women and in a relationship with a TW who still has their penis you can still get pregnant. That's basic biology.

They don't exist. She's a reality show personality that is a complete act, but I suspect she is hard work in real life too

Why would you want to have women like her in your life OP? She is nothing but drama and more drama

Omg that's funny!

Sorry, didn't read your post properly and went in at your title. I'm sorry Blush

I share your difficulties, OP. Sounded out a friend the other week and she turned out to be full on TWAW. So depressing.

I've looked to contact the local WRN on Twitter, but the organiser doesn't follow me so I can't DM her.

WeeBisom · 28/05/2022 10:34

Follow the feminist calendar on Twitter, it shows all the major feminist events in the U.K. for each month.

I think there's a gathering at Speaker's Corner in London at 1 pm tomorrow

McDuffy · 28/05/2022 09:57

I met up with two from my city's feminist Facebook group for a cocktail this week Grin It was so energising! The meeting rather than the drink. They also recommended the women's rights network

mudgetastic · 28/05/2022 09:54

You may find there are plenty around

So far only one couple has turned out to not be GC

One was very kind but still sees limits

There are a much larger number of friends who are more dismissive of trans people than mnhq would tolerate

prettytoes · 28/05/2022 09:34

There are feminists groups on Twitter you can contact and they will point you towards your local group, depending where you are. Scottish Feminists, ReSisters, try Womens Rights Network again, Northern Rad Fem Network

TopKnotch · 28/05/2022 08:17

All the people around you probably?

I find a little conversation opener about prisons, or hospitals, or prize short lists....

My family had a lot of "be kind" people and I've lost dropped nuggets and gently challenged and in reality, they're all GC now

Signalbox · 28/05/2022 07:41

I’ve been looking too OP. WRN didn’t get back to me sadly. As pp said the groups are hard to find I guess they need to keep low key for obvious reasons!

MrsOvertonsWindow · 28/05/2022 07:28

Sin up to Fair Play for Women, Transgender Trend etc. Look for a Resisters group local to you? KJK's meetings in Hyde Park? It's hard to find initially as women have to be so careful to protect themselves but it is possible.

The Women's Rights Network. Find us on Twitter or their website. There are groups of us all over the UK 😊
