‘As a matter of law, a woman can have a penis.’

As a matter of law, ‘woman’ still refers to people with female biology (ONS case). The GRA allows some people with penises to change their legal sex markers and to be treated as women for most purposes. It does not make them women.

Sorry MN, I did come across a bit chinophobic. A penis would be handy for picnics and I've always wanted to write my name in the snow, without peeing down my leg. I...I'll think about it!

It's going to take a lot of practice, and a lot of water to get to the m icakethereforeIam!

I've got an old fashioned fairy liquid bottle you could borrow. To practice with that's what we used to use to keep up with boys!

It will make going to the loo so much quicker!! We can get those stand up toilet bowls in the women's cubicles it will be fab. Cut down on the queue time!
A rolled up copy of The Times was good enough Virginia Woolf, IIRC?

Not a very useful tip now most of us read it online though.

@Boiledbeetle .....chinos? I don't think I'll bother.

It's a small price to pay surely. I mean the prize at the end...come on who wouldn't want a penis. It will make going to the loo so much quicker!! We can get those stand up toilet bowls in the women's cubicles it will be fab. Cut down on the queue time!

It's only a pair of chinos.. Come on. And what exactly IS your problem with chinos? Huh? Huh? Come on explain!!

Not had time to read the thread, did Stella say if we could have them now, or do we have to wait until she's in Government?

We can have then now. But it's not easy to get one. I've got mine. The instructions I used are below to obtain one are below

say I'm a female with a penis three times, twizzle around a few times whilst trying to get your right leg into your best chinos whilst sprinkling unicorn years over your vulva with your left hand. Blindfolded!

then go straight to bed and in the morning...voila! Or it might be a reaction to the unicorn tears. I'm still waiting to see if the rash calms down.

She is our MP...loves the attention of anything frivolous....loves the yuppy garden parties in our area...the dog shows...blocks anyone who disagrees with her....they all love her here and think she is fab....her fb posts are heavily censored and filtered so it looks like everyone agrees with her...serious issues are often ignored....!!

Stupid bloody woman.

Although when she comes out with shit like this I'm not sure she actually qualifies to be considered a woman at all. Angry

Allowing people to change their legal sex was a ridiculous thing to do.

Couldn't agree more.

It was sold to the country as nice people like Hayley Cropper being able to go on holiday with Roy without being embarrassed at passport control.

The actor who played Hayley, Julie Hesmondhalgh, was deeply stung by the criticism that Corrie had cast an adult human female to play a man (Harold) who identified as a woman. (Oh the levels of irony ...) Anyway she decided to campaign for the GRA to assuage her guilt or summat. Certainly she was influential in massaging public support in favour of the GRA.

It was all very luvvy and deceptive and a lot of damage has been done.

FOJN · 30/05/2022 21:55

As a matter of law, a woman can have a penis.

This is correct, a woman can have a penis as a matter of law but not as a matter of biology.

I don't think we should hide this fact and we should thank the TRA's for broadcasting it. We need to make sure as many people as possible know that a GRC does not mean someone has surgical altered their genitals.

The law needs to change as it's patently ridiculous.

babyjellyfish · 30/05/2022 21:44

@donquixotedelamancha They have changed their legal sex though. Not their biological sex, but their legal sex.

We don't have legal genders.

Obviously the whole thing is a mess. I think probably we need a system where everyone has a legal sex (which cannot be changed) and people can have an optional legal gender if they wish.

It would massively help in a healthcare context.

And then for things like sports and prisons we could say legal sex only is what counts. And for things like rape therapy groups have some for legal sex alone and some for gender.

The blurring of language around sex and gender is what has got us into this mess.

donquixotedelamancha · 30/05/2022 21:04

Stella Creasy is actually correct. As a matter of law, a woman can have a penis.

Someone changing their legal gender has not changed sex.

A simple demonstration that she is wrong would be the fact that a GRC does not permit access to single sex facilities operating under an EA exemption.

babyjellyfish · 30/05/2022 20:53

I saw someone commenting on Twitter that, whilst Annaliese Dodds' position is far more sane, Stella Creasy is actually correct.

As a matter of law, a woman can have a penis.

The reaction to her comments would rather suggest that a lot of people don't think that should be the law.

Personally I am starting to feel that the Gender Recognition Act needs to be totally repealed. The only problem is, gender recognition certificates are really the only thing standing between us and full self ID.

Allowing people to change their legal sex was a ridiculous thing to do.

WhereAreWeNow · 30/05/2022 20:42

I think there's also a bit of misjudging the support for TRA positions. They spend too much time with people who are actively lobbying them on this (Stonewall) and are surrounded by young assistants fresh from NUS with pronouns in their bios. The majority of constituents are probably blissfully unaware of the madness that TRAs are spouting. There will also be a large number of constituents who are desperately worried about it but scared to speak publicly for fear of losing friends/jobs. So all the MPs like Stella end up hearing is Stonewall and the woke young assistant. It skews their perception of what most people think.

@WhereAreWeNow They're all completely mad.

What are they hoping to gain from this?

Do they genuinely not want to be in power?

I think they either imagine-hardly anyone is bothered by this (what with it never coming up on the doorstep, and that) so we can spout any old bollocks and get away with it-or, we really believe this sixth form bullshit in which case being ideologically pure is more important than gaining power. I think it's more the later-you cannot come out with this fucking nonsense with a straight face without believing it.

@babyjellyfish it was Nandy too. She signed the pledge that called for the expulsion of people like me. She "paused for thought" and then signed it anyway. www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/feb/23/lisa-nandy-wording-trans-rights-pledge-labour-leadership

She also says (Nandy) that 2 in 5 trans YP have attempted suicide. I thought they'd stopped using this stat?

BreadInCaptivity · 30/05/2022 18:02

Has she gone to her favourite line of "a trans child in my constituency...." yet?

Yep. 'I've got a young person here in Wigan ...'
