Good on RR. She's dealt with an awful lot of shit already, I'm sad to know that more is coming her way but I do admire her courage.

That India Willoughby tweet is horrendous, as an aside. Is that legally actionable? Saying JKR's charity work counts for nothing because Jimmy Saville hid his sexual abuse behind charity work - is that not drawing a comparison between JKR and Saville?
I know JK normally rises above but I'd be on to my lawyers if that was me.

They don't necessarily 'stem from her defence of Jews'. Not all misogynists are antisemites, not all antisemites are misogynists. But there's a fuck of a lot of crossover.

Speaking as a middle-aged gender-critical Jewish woman, i know whereof I speak on this one.

When you've had to withstand the fucking onslaught of antisemitism that Jews in the UK, particularly Jewish women, have endured over the past few years, it kind of empowers you to also stand up for women's rights - because we've been relentlessly attacked, gaslighted, smeared, abused and misrepresented, so we're used to it... unfortunately.

See also Hadley Freeman as another example of a gender critical, kick-arse Jewish woman who is sick of all their shit (I am another one, but I'm not remotely famous so I don't count!)

kind about the whole subject. Until she slowly started to see what was actually going on and receiving some awful toxic abuse from TRA. (and once you see, you can't be a "both sides" kind of fence sitter, as I think Rachel Riley is slowly realising)

I think @frenchriver that it's possible to communicate with both women on a public communication platform called 'Twitter' so you can ask them directly.

The source of monies behind ideologies is indeed a fascinating and important subject that needs much deeper investigation.

I've been following her on twitter for a long time too. She's smart and I doubt she's gone into this without a lot of thought.

As for BC.... you can fight antisemitism and still be a misogynist, you can fight misogyny and still be an antisemite. Historically though it's interesting to note how often these two went hand in hand - particular as expressed by the church when it was claiming that only IT had the power to give the kind of life that REALLY mattered. i.e. New life in christ, given at baptism - replacing the meaningless, merely physical, life given by women, and a new set of scriptures replacing the "old" set of Judaism.

of course the psychology of men using women for surrogacy is interesting in this context too...... 🧐

100% this. I've followed RR for some time on twitter because of her brave stance on antisemitism, and the abuse she gets is off the scale. The woman has ovaries of steel and I doubt she jumped into this debate without knowing what the response would be.
