Did anyone see his GB News slot and then tweet where he explains that there are ‘two different kinds of woman’?

Apparently there is a woman as defined by biology and there is a woman as defined by gender identity. Both are equally valid.

Nearly every comment and quote tweet is a variation of no, had enough of this now, total nonsense, why is anyone listening to this guy?

I think we’re moving away from all of this.

It's amazing that someone goes on a message boards where people comment on the news, and then moans about a channel that is about people commenting on the news.

But it's the same old story, where people believe that anyone they don't agree with should be censored! The same people are angry with the potential Musk takeover of Twitter.

GB News is a response to channels like BBC who have a lot of content editorialised by Stonewall. You got the mainstream media to follow certain agendas, and certain shrewd businessmen saw that the majority of the public disagreed and set up new TV channels in response.

Don't make my laugh about Benjamin Butterworth being the token stupid liberal, BBC have been doing it for years "let's have a debate about gay marriage, now Anjem Choudary, you disagree, why?"

Wish I could read the twitter link but it keeps getting the login/register popup over it and I'm not making an account.

Good that he is getting more sunlight where the average normal person can see him, whether you "approve" of the medium or not.

I don't have a Twitter account but when the sign in box comes up, I click on it as if to sign in then close the box down when it asks for sign in details and I can carry on reading. I have to to do it quite regularly but it works for me.

There are a lot of TRAs retreating into the motte on Twitter now. I’m seeing posts along the lines of ‘What transphobes don’t get is that you can believe in a conservative (?!) sex binary without agreeing that it has any fixed moral, political or social implication...’

Er, okay. Because obviously this isn’t what gender critical people have been saying all along? And we haven’t had to read intellectually sub-standard guff in The Lancet and other publications (and all over Twitter) denying the fundamental existence of biological sex? And we aren’t still seeing that extremist position - that sex is variously non-existent, constructed or mutable - being trotted out by those (like Kirrin Medcalfe of Stonewall) who are still trying to defend the bailey?

We know gender is constructed. We know it’s fluid and uncertain. We are not the ones trying to force people to exist within its parameters: that’s the extreme TRA position.

To add to this interesting comment, I'd also say that the difference between the constructions of 'gender' that are studied by, say, historians, were not the product of individuals' feelings being packaged up into a 'gender'. Most women and men didn't have the agency for that, let alone the words.

Historical constructions of gender were either state-sanctioned, community-sanctioned, created by groups (including kinship groups) or otherwise largely imposed.

(Similarly, 'gender non-conforming' is a term used as short-hand to describe those who appeared to have rebelled against 'gender norms' in some way, of which there have always been many.)

The ultra-modern concept of 'gender' being the packaging up of feelings into a 'personal gender' is very new and very privileged, in terms of the people espousing it having the agency to do so. Without that agency they couldn't have positioned the new vocabulary so prominently. Gender is no longer imposed from the outside or kinship networks; it is created by the individual and imposed on others.

TL:DR These kids really hate their fucking parents.

FemaleAndLearning · 14/05/2022 14:22

Lots of great women on GB News (Nana, Dewbs Mervy to name a few) who know what a woman is and aren't afraid to give an opinion. Andrew Doyle (a leftie) is great and has had lots of Gender Critical guests. What I like is that you do get decent length interviews not just headlines. Tom Harding believes TWAW and is a presenter.Of course I don't agree with everything every presenter says, but I have critical thinking skills so can make my own mind up. I also like watching the Daily Wire with Matt Walsh, Ben Shapiro and Brett Cooper who are right wing but again I don't agree with everything they say bit I like the stuff they do around gender ideology. Odin's Men is another American tuber I like to watch. I'm a liberal left voter who is pro choice and j don't think it helps to the long term goal to exposure gender identity ideology for what it is by not allowing myself to view content that doesn't 100% match my values.

If GB News can shed light on what PT is saying then I'm all for it.

I have seen the odd decent person on GB News but 95% is rubbish.

It is not even a news station. They just watch news on another channel and then talk about it - a bit like gogglebox but with a panel of mainly right wing bigots and morons who claim they have been canceled even though they are on TV all the time plus of course a token woke pundit handpicked to make liberals look like idiots. I think they would love OJ but even he is too smart for trap so they get the mind bogglingly stupid Benjamin Butterworth instead who sits there with a daft grin on his face while they call him the wokest man in Britain

I assume Peter has filled this role too.

Even though I despise this nonsense if he has gone on there and put things down on record then it is fair enough to quote him on it and ask why he spouts just drivel.

Simply not true. There are amazing Female presenters on there representing the feminist and GC view and as a previous poster said, they let people from all sides have a say. You're simply shooting the messenger and ignoring the message. Bit like people refusing to read the Daily Mail even if they are the only outlet covering an important story. But each to their own I suppose.

I'm on the left and a very proud European. Farage is a nasty duplicitous old bigot. But we can't silence everyone we disagree with. That's a Stonewall tactic.

I am of the centre, maybe very slightly right and not a proud European though I was a remainer. You are right, we cannot silence such people but I wish we could make an exception for that nasty old fart, Farage!

What do the TRAs think of the “two kinds of women” line?

It’s a contradiction to their usual “DSDs exist therefore sex is a spectrum therefore men and women are the same” bit.

Not that TRAs usually mind contradictions, but “two kinds” still acknowledges the boundary they want to erase, I can imagine them getting pissy.

Yeah, I'm not sure 'two different kinds of woman' is officially approved language!

lassof · 14/05/2022 11:17

He's a man. Why isn't he educating men about the two types of men that exist? Is he going to branch out into 'types of Bame' and 'types of heterosexuals' next?

tabbycatstripy · 14/05/2022 11:12

‘It's ridiculous to side swipe at people for being right wing. Half the people in any country are, at least on some topics.’

It’s true. Ask most people the following questions and it’s clear:

  1. Should people work for a living if they can?
  2. Should we legalise drugs?
  3. Should there be unlimited migration to the UK?
  4. How many sexes are there and can people change sex?
  5. Should we raise taxes to equalise society?

Ah dear old Peter, who thinks gay children should have sex with adults

GB News does have GC views as it fits in with their worldview. There are strange bedfellows in this debate and that does not bother me. We see left wing journalists like OJ singing from the same hymn sheet at Big Pharma that finds the TRA agenda. Yet on other issues the only dissenting voices they allow are comedy acts like Benjamin Butterworth who is only there to make the opposing view look poor.

Lynnthesearesexnotgenderpeople · 14/05/2022 10:49

Well, according to Peter Tatchell there are also two different types of child:

There is a child who is absolutely off limits for having sex with and if you do you are a massive abusive paedo.

And a child with whom it is absolutely fine for an adult to have a sexual relationship with because, ya know, they just aren't bothered by it at all.

Pick your child carefully though! Hmm

He is so grim, how does he have any credibility at all?

suzyscat · 14/05/2022 10:42

Ooh I enjoyed that. Thank you.

@Somanysocks I managed it, though I thought I couldn't at first. Not on android though.

There are two kinds of horse. One you ride at Ascot, and one you dry clothes on. Both are equally valid, but you're going to look bloody silly mounting a clothes horse.

😂😂😂😂

Somanysocks · 14/05/2022 10:28

Thanks @1Week I'll give it a try. Am on android and it's only been for the last few days.

Disappointed that I can't just peruse twitter links now without getting an account so I can't contribute here. Has it recently changed?

Anyway, like with LOJ, I'm always flabbergasted if Tatchell says anything of any value.

I have no issues whatsoever. I just copy and paste link into my preferred browser and can browse tweets and replies and I don’t have an account.

Try nitter.net, a kind of mirror (? Not sure of terminiology) User names etc the same. Can be patchy enough but allows you to lurk for a bit.

1Week · 14/05/2022 10:19

It's ridiculous to side swipe at people for being right wing. Half the people in any country are, at least on some topics.
They absolutely deserve media that reflects their interests and viewpoints, a cowed and frightened conformist media is how we got into this mess in the first place.

Being moderately or even firmly right or left wing is not the problem, and shouldnt be greeted by shivers of disgust, being an extremist on either wing is different.

WeeBisom · 14/05/2022 10:17

Let’s say it’s true that there are two kinds of women. There are biological women and people with women minds. What do the two groups have in common such that they are both women? You could have a biological woman who doesn’t have a womanly mind, and a person with a womanly mind and a male body. It seems there is no intersection between these two groups.

What rubbish, there's a lot of interesting and insightful debate on the channel.

Glinner was excellent when he was on with Andrew Doyle recently.

Musomama1 · 14/05/2022 10:05

GB News has Mark Dolan, he was good on balls of steel in the 90s.

Yes it's full of right wing views but I'm grateful for it's platform for GC discussion, plus they take an interest in child safeguarding. It's refreshing actually seeing how limp wristed other media like the BBC are.
