Hard to believe that these untested for purpose drugs are so casually handed out to children in this country.

The very carefully worded interim report from the UK's Cass review makes appalling reading - lack of research & data, untested treatment, children not receiving the same evidenced standard of care as other children in the NHS. It's shameful that we have allowed extremist lobby groups to influence the medical treatment of children to this extent.

It's hardly news that puberty blockers are harmful to children.

Complete disgrace that they were ever even considered for use on children who are, essentially, unhappy.

If this doesn't make people stop amd think I don't know what will.

Its utterly heart breaking what we are doing to children .

Puberty is not a disease that needs treating. Its a natural part of development.

We have legal adults with the bodies of children and skeletons of elderly women.. Who does that benefit.

These children are being left disabled and in pain so no one has to say no and be labelled a transphobe.

What happend to first do no harm

The original SVT documentary featuring Leo is here:

For context on the profile of this stuff there, this went out at 8pm on a Monday on SVT1 - their equivalent of BBC1.

There are more and more stories online of youth who transitioned and now want to detransition (while still young) and the impact that blockers and even surgery had on them. Teens are so exploratory in their confusion re identity that these procedures and treatments that have permanent or long lasting impacts are contributing the problem. THis is a 60 minutes doc with one young person but if you google detransitioning on youtube, there is just story after story.

Poor kid. Mum sounded…. Naive and swept up in the glitter.

Madness. And puts the Webberley tribunal conclusions in perspective.

That’s a very upsetting article. It was a programme on BBC radio called I am Leo that first alerted me to this. It was a pro puberty blockers program about 4 years ago. I wrote my first ever complaint to the BBC about the one sidedness of the program as even I could see it was not a neutral thing to do as portrayed. Not saying same child as I think that Leo was British iirc.

Child abuse committed by adults and it is horrifying. Where was medical ethics code 'First do no harm'?

For all our Safeguarding procedures and laws designed to protect children we are failing.
