Dylan, currently on 'Day 47 of being a girl' claims Tampax have been in touch.

www.instagram.com/p/CbiQWjUpXXd/

Why?

'Dylan was using a public restroom when a fellow woman called out if she had a tampon, Dylan shyly replying ‘no’.
Afterwards, she decided to buy some to keep in the house and in her purse for all her girlfriends, ending the video with “women support women.” It seemed that Tampax were quite interested in working with Dylan afterwards. What an incredible outcome!'

Wow…a lot of snidey bs on here today.

Dylan may not menstruate but by having a tampon on hand she is potentially not only helping a fellow woman out if they are in need, and probably feeling more included by being part of the process.

I’ve heard of many a cis-gendered male carrying sanitary products in their cars or bags, just in case one of their friends gets caught out…they always get talked about like heroes for their understanding. I don’t get why people are being so mean about a transgendered female doing the same…

Maybe a lot of people should take a look at themselves and remember the old adage ‘if you have don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.’

Oh my! I was busy at work yesterday and missed catching up pn a lot of posts, but this one? OMG!

Snidey? To say that at 56 years old I have never, ever been in a public loo and been asked by a stranger for a tampon.

Snidey to ppint out that it is something of a 'girly trope' amongst some transwomen?

Dylan may not menstruate may not ? I know it's a turn of phrase but really? Dylan does not, never will menstruate. What is the twaddle about "feeling included"? If a man, inside a women's loo, offers me a tampon I am not going to feel comfotable. It's going to be one of those moments where fight or flight kicks in and my cortisol levels surge. I'd probably accept the tampon, smile and say thank you nad then, as soon and as quietly as possible I would leave, I wouldn't use the tampon either. Why? Because a man I didn't know had invaded my privacy!

many a cis-gendered male Wassat when it's at home. Do you mean 'man' ? And the only two men in my life who have ever mentioned tampax have been a housemate, only male in a house full of women, and my DH. Neither of whom mentioned them in an unsolicited manner, nor where they feted as bloody heroes.

As for that last sentence, try it out. Instead of haranguing women for wanting to keep men out of female spaces you should examine your need to reduce, to override the rights of women. Why do you do that?

mocktail · 29/04/2022 11:06

I'm almost 50 and have never heard anyone call out for tampons in public (or school/work) toilets. Once ever, a friend asked me for one.

This never happened.

puffalo · 29/04/2022 01:10

Yes, that’s exactly who it was!

I’m quite proud of myself for managing to forget that awful creature’s name in the first place. Some of the things he said/did…

Hes still going. And done yet more stuff, been arrested, been held for breach of the peace, had at least one operation. Dont think I can say more because I want the thread to stand.

RomeoOscarXrayIndigoEcho · 29/04/2022 10:55

I've never asked and I've never been asked.

One of the main reasons why is...what is the likelihood that a random woman is going to have the product I prefer available?

I'd rather improvise until I was able to purchase my preferred product. It's such a personal choice.

If anything I'd ask if someone had a pad rather than a tampon, but even then in o er 20 years of menstruation I've never asked or been asked.

Not have I ever asked a friend or colleague either.

I love the notion that men have sanitary products just in case women need them. Trying to picture a world where I stroll up to Ian in compliance and ask what he has, he pulls out his supply and we ascertain that even though he has super max tampons and light pads, neither suit my needs so he recommends I check with Matt in HR as he is always good for Tenna pants. Fairly confident that even if this did happen I would not be putting any of thoes items on or in my genitals.

Exactly this! You’ve made me laugh.

I find the notion of a man (Dylan aside) carrying tampons around very strange. It would strike me as a fetish rather than a good deed.

I have been asked for tampons a good few times in my 38 years but I don’t recall asking anyone myself.

Because it never ever happens....no person experiencing a period would ask someone else for sanitary products. You are always carrying something yourself or use loo roll.

Possibly a very close family member but only one you knew for certain would have that kind of thing, and never ever a "cis-gendered male".

Just had a look at the "rebuttal" video on YouTube where a lady responds to Dylan's video diaries.

The comments section makes for appalling and sober reading if anyone want to look. The vast majority are in favour of Dylan and the comments vary from "Dylan is the epitome of womanhood" to "Dylan is a real woman , you're jealous" to "as a black woman you should know what racism is like so how can you be so horrible " etc.
There are very very few voices of reason. It's scary but I'm hoping that it's the echo chamber of Dylan's "fans" that have come over form whatever stupid platform he is on.
I feel bad for the woman who made a very reasonable response video, she was even kind enough to not misgender the person and didn't say anything terrible at ALL.
The video is called ""A (Biological) Woman’s Take on Trending TRANS TikToker Dylan Mulvaney- Unapologetic LIVE"" if anyone does want to depress themselves and realise how few sane people are left in the world.

Mandodari · 29/04/2022 10:26

@puffalo
Absolutely nailed it. I have never seen a trans fantasy of womanhood that explores why it is assumed that she will be the one to care for elderly parents, or why when she comes home from work she is expected to shoulder most of the housework burden. When they talk about makeup, none of them mention trying to get it done in the car on the way to work because they have run out of time getting lunches ready putting the bins out or any of the rest of the crap that goes with the lives of real women. It's always about friperies or feeling affirmed or feeling desirable.

viques · 29/04/2022 10:11

I’ve been thinking about other ways kind transmenmen like Dylan could offer help and solidarity to us girls, not as exciting as rushing forward with tampons, but still.

Tampons of course
smelling salts for when we have the fainting spells
double sided tape for droopy hems
clear nail varnish for runs in our stockings
and talking of stockings, small buttons to use if a suspender button gets broken
safety pins, various, for those pesky bra straps
otc pain relief for cramps

I ‘m sure there are more. Maybe he could have a dinky little bag tied round his neck like a St Bernard, in fact, forget the above, just give us the brandy……

EmmaGrundyForPM · 29/04/2022 09:49

This did sort of happen to me in a public toilet in a less economically developed country. The toilets were filthy, no toilet paper, no basins. A young woman was clearly upset and when I asked if I could help, she explained in broken English that she needed something as there was blood. She was highly embarrassed but incredibly grateful when I was able to produce a sanitary towel out of my rucksack. She certainly wasn't merrily and loudly asking for a tampon. I imagine that if I had ever been caught out I would quietly and discreetly ask a kind looking woman who came into the toilets, not announce my needs to all and sundry.

Helleofabore · 29/04/2022 09:48

Of course, being the tampon dispenser gives Dyls a purpose for being in that loo, doesn’t it?

Another layer to the validation argument.

Ratonastick · 29/04/2022 09:40

Incidentally, I do know that tampons are bloody good for cleaning gunk out of piston cylinders, though they need soaking in WD40 first. One of the blokiest blokes I know has a dusty old box in his garage for just this purpose. He would spontaneously combust with embarrassment if I nipped in and asked for one.

Ratonastick · 29/04/2022 09:30

@puffalo has nailed it. Absolutely nailed it. My delightful 78 year old mother encapsulated the debate with one sniffy comment: Well we all know which sex will be cleaning the gender neutral loos, don’t we?

As for Dylan, Dylan is a role playing weirdo that wants other people to validate his fantasies. If his magical menstruation story had involved a harassed looking woman rummaging around in her handbag and quietly asking if he could change a pound coin I might believe it. By joyful cries of “has anyone got a spare tampon” across the hallowed cubicles of the public khazi seem unlikely.

Yesterday I read about trainee midwives being taught about trans women giving birth. After reading about some NHS literature being changed from breast feeding to chest feeding I just fear for the common sense of future generations but more so for the people coming up with this nonsense.

it must be awful to feel you are in the wrong body but why try and wipe out the autonomy of the gender you say you want to be ?

Because it's easier to ride on, and cut off, our coat tails than make a whole new coat for yourself.

To Men & transwomen: I will NEVER ask you for sanpro. I don’t know if any woman who would. So I would save your money. or if you want to help donate sanpro to your local food bank.

👏period poverty is the grim reality for so many girls, this is a great shout.

TitsInAbsentia · 29/04/2022 09:20

MzHz · 28/04/2022 23:56

Gah!

that’s what we’re supposed to do?

53 years of this and I’m still getting this girling wrong

😑

Ah it's ok @MzHz just transmogrify into a male for a week and than transmogrify back to being female and you can start all over again - voila!

@Nellodee
. It was in a little bag along with compass, waterproof matches,

I skim read that and thought it read compact ,waterproof mascara- I was desperate to find out why they were needed in the wild 😆

nzborn · 29/04/2022 08:41

when I land on a toilet and find out too late theirs no toilet paper it's embarrassing enough to ask a stranger to pass some under the door.

I can't ever ever imagine asking someone for sanitary products if caught short like someone else said you make do with the toilet paper till you get home or to a shop.

user750 · 29/04/2022 07:47

DH has on occasion taken tampons out with him. Together with a miniature of vodka or a bit of paraffin makes an amazing firelighter.

Helleofabore · 29/04/2022 07:33

Well! You learn something new everyday. I was going to suggest that maybe Dyl got nosebleeds or that they wanted to practice first aid. But fire starting ….. that is a new one. Maybe it is more environmentally friendly than the hexamine cube we carry for the purpose.

I wouldn’t want to mention why else a male would want to carry around tampons.

bellinisurge · 29/04/2022 07:27

@Nellodee , there is a number of suggested prepper uses for tampons (I'm a prepper). None of them involves hanging around women's public toilets looking for young girls to validate you.
