Dylan, currently on 'Day 47 of being a girl' claims Tampax have been in touch.

Why?

'Dylan was using a public restroom when a fellow woman called out if she had a tampon, Dylan shyly replying ‘no’.
Afterwards, she decided to buy some to keep in the house and in her purse for all her girlfriends, ending the video with “women support women.” It seemed that Tampax were quite interested in working with Dylan afterwards. What an incredible outcome!'

Sort of like "If I can't have you, no one can"

Exactly that.

Absolutely @MarchXX

it must be awful to feel you are in the wrong body but why try and wipe out the autonomy of the gender you say you want to be ?

Because for many men when they realise they can never have what it is they want and desire it becomes a target to destroy. This applies to many things beyond just transgenderism. History is littered with examples -Putin and Ukraine strikes me as a current one.

Sadly I believe you're right @OvaHere

Let me remember all those times I've heard women in toilets calling out for spare sanitary products.

... never ...

Ha yes! At school maybe, as a grown woman? Never!

That is slightly different though.
He is in a position where a girl might need to ask him or he might realise that a girl needs it. Just like a girl would ask her dad if she needed too. He’s not some random bloke in the pub.

But as you say, he has that because he knows it’s the decent thing to do in his position and doesn’t carry on like he’s a bloody hero.

Sorry, absolutely. I was just illustrating how different it is when someone does it without the fanfare. Because then you can perhaps guess more about the different motivations of these two people (is my colleague and Dylan

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 30/04/2022 07:59

In my office two or three of us have sanpro in our desk drawers. All the women in the room know it’s ok to take one in emergency. It’s not part of a ‘process’ & if one of the blokes announced he had a helpful tampon stock that would just be weird.

Does make complete sense for the teacher upthread to have some though.

I am a teacher in a department where we're 75% women. One of my male colleagues keeps a box of pads in his desk drawer in case female students leak onto their chairs and don't have replacement pads with them (I'd say this happens in my classroom a couple of times a year). I only know about this box because I sit next to him in the staff room and one day didn't have a pad in my bag. I was moaning about my chronic lack of organisation to him and he told me he had one if I'd like and explained why.

He's an incredibly good bloke - one of the best. Funnily enough, what he doesn't do is brag about it on social media, or in fact ever mention it at all, apart from when absolutely necessary.

Have we established if tampax has actually offered him a contract? It’s just I need to pop to the shops to pick some up and the answer to that question would help inform my purchasing choices. I’m not spending hard earned money on brands which make items specific to women’s biology, yet centre men in that process.
Do we have a list of those companies which haven’t succumbed yet?

VerveClique · 30/04/2022 07:03

I’ve just come back to catch up on this thread.

This lot shits me too tears.

Just fuck off out of women’s spaces Dylan. And stop appropriating womanhood while you’re at it.

We need to stop being nice about this.

Somanysocks · 30/04/2022 05:12

I have to say I would be hesitant about accepting a tampon from someone like Dylan in a public loo, I would be worried that it had been 'tampered' with in some way.

Furries · 30/04/2022 04:08

EmpressoftheMundane · 29/04/2022 00:02

To be fair, I have been asked for a tampon a few times. Most recently in the loo at St Bart’s hospital Bryan employee. I only use pads, but the recipients have always been grateful for the pads. Maybe I’m just approachable. 🤷🏻‍♀️
That said not sure why tampax wants to fawn over people who don’t actually menstruate. Maybe they see a whole new market opening up, selling tampons to people who don’t need them.

I know it was obviously a stupid autocorrect (bane of my life), but your “Bryan employee” made me laugh!

Furries · 30/04/2022 03:45

I’ve never heard of a guy carrying san-pro.

I’ve been asked, roughly, two or three times by women in the last 35 years of being a bleeding woman. Always colleagues at work - people I was close to, and always asked discretely. Never in the toilets, called out between cubicles.

The more crap I read, and the more some parts of society seem to be twisting themselves into pretzel-shaped reasoning, the more I worry that I’m going to end up with a permanent brick shape forged into my forehead.

The transphobic posts have been removed - that’s why you don’t see any on here. The ones that were nasty and vile, they’re all gone.

i don’t think that the remaining posts are transphobic, insensitive maybe, but each to their own

but it’s the deleted comments that I was responding to…you will be able To see that half a dozen or more have been removed - they were shocking

By the time of your post, 3 comments had been deleted. Best not to over-egg your position if you want to get a point across.

Someone upthread said that this person, by carrying tampons, is “probably feeling more included by being part of the process”. The idea that someone (male or female) wants to be part of the process of another woman’s period really is very weird. It’s up there with talking to someone through a cubicle door when you know they are doing a shit and want you to go away. Women in the toilets want to just do their business and get out (much like men I expect).

Agree!

Oh and not every woman uses tampon, the one time I had to ask it was a close colleague and I only use pads. luckily she did too but not the wing version but I made do just so I could get to the end of the day and home. If a tampon was offered I would turn it down, never used one and rather wad up toilet roll. But again majority of toilets have vending machines in them just a problem if you dont have cash

IAmAWomanNotACis · 29/04/2022 21:33

Of all the things that never happened, a woman asking the person in the stall next to her for a tampon, and men carrying around sanpro for just in case are two such examples.

I know when I was suffering with the delights of unpredictable flow recently I damn well didn't ask a random man for sanpro when I had run out of the 3 spares that I carried in my handbag. I didn't ask stranger women in the public loos. I did ask a very close friend female colleague for a spare, while I made excruciatingly delicately phrased arrangements with my male colleagues so that I could pop to the shops to stock up. Funnily enough none of them jumped up and produced a sodding tampon out of their back pocket for me (thank goodness). If it had been lighter flow I would have used loo roll and/or paper hand towels.

This, THIS is the lived experience of women. Not navalgazing buying a product that one has no personal use for to show solidarity.

It definitely is. They are completely obsessed with chatting with other 'ladies' in the public loos about periods etc. Like it actually EVER happens Hmm.

BluesandClues · 29/04/2022 19:23

I watched the video that another person mentioned further up the thread. The woman speaking in the podcast was really articulate, she impressed me with how articulate she was. There’s another as Dylan made a response on their tiktok to their podcast (as you do).

CruCru · 29/04/2022 18:48

Is it "coming on to the Feminism board of a women's platform to tell women to be nice or be quiet"?

This made me chortle (quietly) to myself.
