Transwoman claims Tampax have offered sponsorship

Dylan, currently on 'Day 47 of being a girl' claims Tampax have been in touch.

www.instagram.com/p/CbiQWjUpXXd/

Why?

'Dylan was using a public restroom when a fellow woman called out if she had a tampon, Dylan shyly replying ‘no’.
Afterwards, she decided to buy some to keep in the house and in her purse for all her girlfriends, ending the video with “women support women.” It seemed that Tampax were quite interested in working with Dylan afterwards. What an incredible outcome!'

Hutchy16, the last thread was deleted without ANY transphobic comments.
Unless you count saying males do not have periods as being transphobic.
Or suggesting that such males who DO takes in interest in such things as perhaps having another motive.
These things are both true, and yet the thread was removed.

As has every thread on periods been removed in the last few weeks.
It seems to offend some lurkers or Twiterrati that women do not like their biological processes being appropriated for clickbait and validation.

It makes you wonder why people keep listing the threads over and over.

and this one in particular, clearly Dylan is lying for fame/notoriety…it’s a waste of time posting about it.

but my comments earlier that I seem to have been getting unnecessary grief for, were nothing to do with Dylan or the truth of this post and everything to do with the vile hate that some decided to spew.

now the one about changing rooms and gender identity that is also up…that one is a real thing that actually warrants a discussion

the stories of men with sanitary products are regularly shown on quora, Facebook, boredpanda

Yeah, I don't doubt there may be men who carry sanpro around with them. What I'd disagree on is their reasons for doing so and whether women would call them 'heroes' or ... something else.

It has been for a very long time, even 20 years ago I remember my friend telling me how her transsexual friends would carry tampons, it’s all part of the illusion / thrill of passing.

And it’s always tampons isn’t it, not boring old pads. Can’t think why 🤔

MsFogi · 28/04/2022 22:49

What are the chances - the one time in human history that a woman has yelled from the loo stall for someone to thow a tampon over there happened to be a trans person hanging about in the women's lavatories. Maybe a MNer who is better at maths than me could work out what the probability of that genuinely happing are...maybe Tampax would like to include the stat in their campaign, they could even call it "It never happens"

This thread has covered ALL the points of the last thread on the same subject.
All of the same observations have been made.
The last thread was deleted because someone took offence to biological reality.
And their opinions shut down a discussion because their opinions are more important / inclusive / kind than the VAST majority of women who can see this situation for what it is.

This thread will be buried too.
I will personally send everyone a tampon if this thread gets to 1000 posts.

This one should be fine now. The disgusting stuff is gone

probably feeling more included by being part of the process

women have been penalised for centuries for having periods. Today many women still suffer in extreme pain, discomfort and period poverty due to periods. How nice for Dylan to get to be included in that, and if dylan is to be believed, also financially gain from that.

This is so true - and when white women are lauded for wearing their hair in styles that black women are penalised for, it is quite rightly called out as appropriation. How is this different?

Why should we be 'including Dylan in being part of the process'? He has no right to appropriate our bodies and our biology in this way.

Plus tampax are crap anyway, why would you want something that extends like a slinky....only girth will stop the flood 😂

TitsInAbsentia · 28/04/2022 22:42

Before the thread self destructs...

Most women wouldn't dream of asking a stranger for a tampon...not because they're too embarrassed to, but because they're too embarrassed for the woman they're asking because they know she'll be squirming - torn between offering the scruffy fluffy one lurking with the lone mint imperial and faded receipts or saying no to save face.

Summerhillsquare · 28/04/2022 22:40

Hutchy16 · 28/04/2022 22:31

Also…perhaps you should Google the definition of sexist haha 🙈

Is it "coming on to the Feminism board of a women's platform to tell women to be nice or be quiet"?

puffyisgood · 28/04/2022 22:40

I saw a few clips on this person's social media. I certainly don't think they're a Jessica Yaniv style pervert with a fetish of some kind for all things menstrual. The act (and it is an act, this person is a comedian, this media is their livelihood, documenting a trans journey isn't a basis for an entire career but it could be a useful springboard/way to build up a fanbase)
seems sincere enough, this person clearly has a whole host sensibilities which, in traditional gender terms, tend towards the 'feminine'. This doesn't come close to making her a 'woman' in the sense that I understand and use the term but I can accept that it does using other (imo objectively wrong) definitions.

Hutchy16 · 28/04/2022 22:39

BackAgain777 · 28/04/2022 21:16

It is NOT transphobic (which has lost all meaning anyway, as it's the battle cry of the handmaidens) to suggest that men who think so much about periods and period products, wonder who might be having their period and need products, like to hand out said products IN THE WOMEN'S bathrooms, have some kind of unnatural interest (unless they're a gynaecologist) in menstruation.
Why would that be?
As for the male "friend" who carries sanpro for their friends, while I would still suggest this is not the norm, the problem is that this "Dylan" person is doing it while women are in their OWN bathroom, at what is probably quite a vulnerable and potentially embarrassing moment.
Don't try to make out it's normal for men to frolic around with baskets of tampons for their female pals.
It's not.

Anyway, thread deletion imminent. The magic word has already been spoken.

The transphobic posts have been removed - that’s why you don’t see any on here. The ones that were nasty and vile, they’re all gone.

i don’t think that the remaining posts are transphobic, insensitive maybe, but each to their own

but it’s the deleted comments that I was responding to…you will be able To see that half a dozen or more have been removed - they were shocking

WookeyHole · 28/04/2022 22:38

Well it's quite possible given Tampax are made by the same company which removed the female sign from Always

www.independent.co.uk/life-style/women/always-sanitary-products-female-symbol-inclusive-transgender-female-erasure-a9164671.html

And which is the same company which donated £10,000 to Mermaids just last year

pgnewsroom.co.uk/news-releases/news-details/2020/PG-Commits-to-2021-Acts-of-Good-in-2021-and-Inspires-Millions-through-Lead-with-Love-Campaign/

Most likely with the majority of their income coming from mums like us doing our weekly shop.

Pretty much every woman on here has said they've never asked for a tampon so do not require anyone's help- but you happen to know men who carry them round just in case they get asked??? Really??? Sounds fucking creepy to me. If women are going to ask someone then they're going to ask a women, it definitely wouldn't occur to any woman be yelling it out to all and sundry in the office......or to ask a man. But us silly girls would be very lucky to have men think about these things on our behalf and carry boxes of tampons round in their cars - what heroes!!

TBH I think if you can't say anything truthful then you shouldn't say anything at all.

My response is due to some disgusting transphobic posts, they’ve been removed now so it is going to seem out of context.

the stories of men with sanitary products are regularly shown on quora, Facebook, boredpanda, you could name more…their legitimacy could be called into question but given that I said I’ve ‘heard’ not ‘I’ve known personally’ I think your comments are foolish.

anyway, my comments aren’t to the people who say they have never been asked, my comments are to the nasty trolls who were misgendering, name calling and more…but those comments have been removed and this is why my comments look harsh. They really weren’t if you had actually seen some of the shocking transphobic stuff that was being posted.

AngelinaFibres · 28/04/2022 22:31

The world will truly have disappeared up its own arse if a biological man is sponsored by a tampon company when biological women, who actually need these things, have had to pay extra tax on them because they were a 'luxury item' for years and years .

Hutchy16 · 28/04/2022 22:31

Also…perhaps you should Google the definition of sexist haha 🙈

Hey @hutchy16 - I "don't have anything nice to say" - bore off with your condescending sexist nonsense.

You know, I don’t have anything to say in response to this.

my post was because of some vile and disgraceful transphobic comments on the page which have since been removed because they were shocking.

because they have been removed, I can completely understand how you can reply with such a stupid post. Have a nice day!

PonyPatter44 · 28/04/2022 22:28

Who would ever ask a man if he had any sanitary protection, even if you were flooding? I would ask female friends or colleagues, or take myself off to the shop...but I really wouldn't even think of asking a male. Even my partner, who is utterly wonderful and understands womens issues, wouldn't wander about with a spare tampon in his pocket. He'd go to the shop for me, he'd buy any sort of pads or tampons I need (plus chocolate), but he doesn't carry them around with him. In fact, I just asked him what he thought of the idea, the words "thats proper fucking weird" were uttered.

viques · 28/04/2022 22:24

WhenDovesFly · 28/04/2022 21:55

If only it were possible to make these trans women feel the true experience of having periods. The bleeding for days, the occasional leaking, the cramps, the backache, the hormonal swings. They'd find 'being a girl' isn't the fun they think it is.

I suppose if they took mega doses of super strength laxatives for five days and tried to stem the “flow” by sticking tampons up their bum they would get a slight sense of what having a period can be like. Wouldn’t deal with mood swings though.

noirchatsdeux · 28/04/2022 22:21

Exactly 40 years of periods... I've never asked any other woman for a tampon. Let alone a complete stranger.

GoodWeatherforDucks · 28/04/2022 22:19

When I first came across this Tik Tokker, I thought it was surely a parody. But by “Day 25 of Being A Girl”, I became convinced that Dylan’s for real. If he’s playing it for laughs, he will be torn limb from limb by all his fawning fans, if and when he comes clean.
