Lisa is on MN so maybe she’s struggling to post like me - the upgrade has buggered up the app 🙄

Anyway, I concur, with her ovaries of steel (or diamonds, or steely diamonds) I think she should run as an MP, she won by a country mile last time...

If she was here she would be thankful of the support I’m sure.

Cards can be sent to:

Lisa Townsend
Police and Crime Commissioner
Office of the PCC
Surrey Police

Imagine being buddies with Crispin Blunt.

How about that for the wrong side of history?

So, that would be a delirium dream accompanying a very nasty infection, yes?

I have sent an email to the panel chair, David Reeve, voicing my strong support for Lisa as she has said that this sort of evidence is taken seriously and I imagine that after this latest development she will need support more than ever. I seem to remember that, of the 3 complaints against her, at least one wasn’t from Surrey so whether you live there or not it’s worth contacting the panel. The email I used was [email protected]

I want a t-shirt with just 'No'. Stuff that 'be kind' crap.

SpindleInTheWind · 23/04/2022 11:43

Crispin Blunt's councillor mates can't just change the way the Police & Crime Panel works. I'm pretty sure it's all written into the parliamentary legislation that set up the Police & Crime Commissioner system in the first place, so they'd have to persuade Parliament to do it, I suspect.

And right now I don't think Crispin Blunt's wishes are being taken very seriously. He's tainted.

GrimDamnFanjo · 23/04/2022 11:25

Sharron Davies!

I'm massively impressed by her right now.
She has entered the JKR "I no longer give fucks" phase...

They spent two & a half hours discussing this for 4/7 to decide she had "failed to treat others with dignity and respect." RAPISTS they spent their time & energy to tell her off for not treating RAPISTS nicely.

Lisa 🥃

This. And look who Blunt supported? He hasn't got a fucking leg left to stand on, not that he ever did in the first place!

No, damn right she shouldn't have to explain herself to a bunch of bullying misogynistic arseclowns for hurting rapists feelings! And that ominous comment of changing the rules so they can force her, just who the hell do they think they are?

Men really really don't like it when a woman says no. Good on you Lisa!

MidCenturyClegs · 23/04/2022 11:12

Robles, sorry

MidCenturyClegs · 23/04/2022 11:12

Love how she was so straight up. No excuses.

Reminds me of Sarah Noble (another amazing woman to add to the list)'s #nothankyou

And Lisa, and the many women listed above, are utterly brilliant. I love how measured she was in her response. No panic, or need to explain herself. Just no.

Yes. No hyperbole, no threats, no swearing.

She knows she’s right and therefore doesn’t need to hide behind bluster and obfuscation.

What a great role model 🌺

nothingcomestonothing · 23/04/2022 10:31

Flowers for Lisa, what a woman! Lovely sunlight.

*Cllr Fury said: “If you are not legally bound to do so then we need to look again at how the complaints panel works.” The panel has no power,” said chairman Cllr Reeve. “The acid test is in the ballot box vote, and that’s the view of the legal people.”

Looks like one of the Councillors thinks they need to change how the complaints panel works so they'll be able to force the CPP to do as they're told the next time. Not threatening or anti-democratic at all.*

That struck me unpleasantly too. Unilaterally and unlawfully changing the rules to make sure they can force people to their will.

It made me think of Fudge in the Potter books declaring that 'laws can be changed!' when a decision made by the Wizengamot doesn't go the way he wants, though I'm sure there are many real world examples too!

tabbycatstripy · 23/04/2022 07:24

Brilliant, even!

A complete Shero. Who’d have thought that the truth would be so contentious in 2022?

FrancescaContini · 22/04/2022 23:29

Feminist lawyers.

Rosie Duffield, Tonia Antoniazzi. Jackie Doyle-Price. I'm sure that I've forgotten some.

Sarah Ditum. Hadley Freeman.

Laura Kenny has shown leadership at a very difficult time in her life. The other women who have spoken up for women's athletics, swimming, and cycling.

IamSarah for her courage in attempting to provide single-sex services for women who have been raped.

Katie Alcock.

The academics who have endured so much for their support of women. Sophie Scott.

You know the song, Bosom of Abraham? Even collectively, we can't make our arms big enough to embrace all of these fabulous women. We can keep them in our hearts and minds.
