What? What happened there?

Cailleach1 · 20/04/2022 15:43

So, intersectionality always arrives back at T (well, LGBT, but we know they mean the T). What about belief and a woman who wants single sex facilities according to her belief. What about sex and disability?

tabbycatstripy · 20/04/2022 15:42

Yes she is.

There’s something quite threatening about CN.

DomesticatedZombie · 20/04/2022 15:42

Whooop whoop it's JDP.

DomesticatedZombie · 20/04/2022 15:40

Is Kim Johnson the woman in the blue spotty shirt?

tabbycatstripy · 20/04/2022 15:39

Caroline Nokes is for the blokes.

Kim Johnson likes to ask a question and then move on.

Artichokeleaves · 20/04/2022 15:37

Trampling women's rights and removing their language and spaces and access is not fostering good relationships, is it? It's doing the opposite. Boundaries. Good fences make good neighbours.

DomesticatedZombie · 20/04/2022 15:35

Fuck off Nokes. Cheeky mare.

DomesticatedZombie · 20/04/2022 15:30

WTF is Caroline Nokes' problem? She's like someone in a pub spoiling for a fight. Always squaring up to people and trying to trip them up ... it's really odd behaviour.

She's not very bright but has done very well considering, in politics. Her letter of No Confidence in Johnson is still 'live' and that's causing her issues with the whips' office I imagine.

She's a bit of an enigma wrapped up in a plank.

DomesticatedZombie · 20/04/2022 15:34

Hm, their remit is to foster good relations between everyone, apparently. Not sure that's actually possible when we have people insisting that misogynist or homophobic principles must be upheld.

Letterasaurus · 20/04/2022 15:33

Why should the EHRC try to repair relationships with groups who just don't like the law as correctly stated?

A clearer definition of conversion therapy ... Okay.

They all seem a bit nervous.

SpinningMeSoftly · 20/04/2022 15:12

Thank you @OldCrone

SpinningMeSoftly · 20/04/2022 15:11

I seem to be staring at the Building Safety Bill debate for some reason.

"I was hoping Akua Reindorf would be speaking" - I'm not familiar with her. Falkner trying to "clarify" the single sex spaces policy on WH was an absolute car crash and yet Emma Barnett wasn't asking anything that she couldn't have anticipated and been prepared to answer clearly and robustly.

OhHolyJesus · 19/04/2022 22:27

So it's really about LGBT but the Inclusive Britain report is about race. Let's see how much time is allocated to that.

I hope EHRC's witness are prepared and are clear in their language and outline their definitions of language at the outset.

Take charge Baroness, this committee is self appointed, you were chosen. No one takes Caroline Noakes (one for the blokes) seriously anyway...

tabbycatstripy · 19/04/2022 22:26

‘I was hoping Akua Reindorf would be speaking. The Baroness hasn't sounded very confident when I've heard her on the radio — a couple of times now.’

She doesn’t have the wide-ranging PR confidence of some, but she is steely in defence of what she knows. She shall not be moved.

tabbycatstripy · 19/04/2022 22:24

VestofAbsurdity

I was shouting at the screen. Just the insolent attitude they were willing to display towards people who were there in good faith (whatever their opinions) put me off them. I would listen to (virtually) anyone speaking their honest view with better manners than that.

VestofAbsurdity · 19/04/2022 22:20

@tabbycatstripy

The first time I watched one of these sessions my jaw was on the floor. They were so rude, and so obviously partisan.
The appearances before the Women and Equalities Committee last year by various individuals prior to their latest report were jaw dropping in highlighting the different treatment meted out. The bias towards the sacred caste was so fecking obvious, the disrespect, rudeness and aggressiveness to those not in the sacred caste and the fawning, bowing and scraping to those that were was certainly an education.
Pluvia · 19/04/2022 22:14

@TheBiologyStupid

Should be interesting. I hope that Kishwer Falkner is on better form than she was on Woman's Hour a couple of weeks ago.
