Twitter have excelled themselves and banned a prominent gay rights campaigner for comparing the impact of gender identity and AIDS on the gay community.

Unfortunately for Twitter he is a legally trained and a prominent gay rights campaigner. His response is amazing.

An excellent letter - the response should be interesting. Great that he drew attention to others also banned for GC tweets.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 20/04/2022 23:06

A rare outbreak of common sense from Twitter

MidCenturyClegs sending my best wishes to you and your daughter. I hope you get support soon.

littlbrowndog · 20/04/2022 22:11

He’s back

yourhairiswinterfire · 20/04/2022 22:11

Dennis has had his account reinstated.

A very good letter, although I was surprised that he asserted that Elon Musk is the majority shareholder. As far as I've been able to establish, Musk wants to take over Twitter but hasn't yet been able to, and the board is trying to block him from doing so.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 17/04/2022 12:38

Just bumping for the day time crowd as the letter is well worth a read.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 17/04/2022 01:26

He may well have said twattish things at times but he was banned for discussing the impact of Gender Ideology on the gay community.
I don’t see how Twitter can kid itself it’s on the right side of history when they are banning women and gay men.
I think that the gay male lobby is significant and if they start feeling attacked then the reaction could be quite powerful.

Excellent letter. Suspect the 20year olds at Twitter didn't understand it.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 17/04/2022 00:21

But he's not claiming to really is he? He's a gay man concerned primarily about gay men. I think he should be entitled to that priority, in the same way that I am entitled to prioritise women.

I don't think it's helpful to immediately jump to "he said a twattish thing once so I don't want to support anything he does". This is a extremely simplistic and unhelpful approach. It suggests we should only look at who is saying a thing, not what is being said. It reeks of purity spirals and it will not move the GC cause forward.

Many, many people (most, in reality) will share GC beliefs to a greater or lesser extent. The fact that (outside of Twitter) we are a majority is a good thing. We aren't a niche, bigoted, unreasonable belief. We are simply people who prioritise biological reality above ideology and feelings. As such, many people who hold other views we may dislike, will also be biological realists. Picking out and casting aside all those who we don't like, who have different priorities from ours, our who have pissed us off in the past, is an insane strategy.

I don't want to win this fight because I have the purest, most righteous ideology, am a Good Person.

I want to win this fight because believing, in my heart of hearts, that the sun will not come up tomorrow will not make it so. Belief does not shape reality. And no-one should be able to dictate to me, or anyone else, what reality is, based on their subjective belief.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 17/04/2022 00:06

I think we put GC males on a pedestal.

I've seen a fair amount of criticism of DK, Glinner, Arty Morty, and various others with a reputation for GC. (I'm blanking on the name of the chap who was quite huffy on TMWI with James Dreyfus and various others.)

MidCenturyClegs · 16/04/2022 23:51

Obviously you can't see the text he wrote cos deleted etc.
But the responses being politely pointed out using a disease with a 20% fatality rate and a 300% growth in 2 years were ignored. A screenshot of his tweet was posted to an international Eating Disorders support page and the outrage from 100s of parents on there against him were in the hundreds. He has no concern for young girls whatsoever

Dennis NK can be an utter misogynist sometimes. I remember he wrote a post about there being no anorexics anymore because all the girls are becoming trans. Quite a few women piped up saying that actually anorexia has been on the rise (300% since Covid), there are no ED beds spare across the country - or at least a 12 month wait list and mothers looking after their skeletal daughters at home.I myself have been waiting for a bed for my daughter for 6 months; she is desperately ill but no available and appropriate care. I think we put GC males on a pedestal.

DrBlackbird · 16/04/2022 22:22

my participation in such debates should not be contingent on my support of biology denial / gender ideology

ScribblingPixie · 16/04/2022 21:57

He was literally my favourite poster on Twitter :(

maltravers · 16/04/2022 21:43

Superb letter. I hope the twits at Twitter read it properly.

Igmum · 16/04/2022 14:59

Bloody brilliant. Totally looking forward to him being reinstated so I can see his tweets. How could anyone disagree with this?

FemaleAndLearning · 16/04/2022 10:17

I saw Dennis being interviewed on GB News alongside Sarah Phillimore. Fantastic duo.

ThePennyJustDropped · 16/04/2022 09:21

Brilliant response. And seems like the type of man who won't give up so I hope he manages to make a huge amount of noise to throw more light on this - sadly so many people are just still completely unaware of what's going on.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 16/04/2022 09:18

It’s been retweeted to Twitter and Elon Musk multiple times now. I imagine it’s been noticed despite the reply

Excellent letter. Shame twitter didn't read it

KittenKong · 16/04/2022 08:35

I miss jebadoo!

Smileyaxolotl1 · 15/04/2022 21:01

Dennis is great.
As well as being well informed, he’s got a great sense of humour.
Good luck to him.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 15/04/2022 17:06

I love the fact he has copied Elon Musk. Parliament is already investigating Twitter’s banning policy this is not going to help their case.

Wow - that is an excellent response! Exactly the kind of calm, incisive clarity which makes TRAs sound like raging toddlers by comparison.
