No mention of just saying “TWAW” being all that is needed. No mention of invasion of the change rooms.

I could go on.

I found the stubby cooler very provoking. It certainly fits Pauline's branding. She is quite masterful to playing to her audience. Does anyone take notice of one nation anymore though?

What is needed is female MPs and Senators across all parties to come out to support women and children there, as in Australia, absolutely! Drown out Pauline and her extremist views on anything.

Helleofabore · 18/05/2022 13:49

She could do nothing but own 'please explain'. I remember her turning it to her advantage very early on.

You know what I mean though, right?

It's not the same as ppl accusing PP / KJK as being far right because she talked to Tucker in the US

Pauline does have a reputation of being racist going back decades so it makes the gender critical movement harder to be seen as benign.

I guess what is needed is politicians like Labour MP Rosie Duffield here in the U.K. speaking up. That comes from GC women working within Labor in Aus to sway minds in support of women and children.

I’m just poking around her website and, fuck, this is sponsored by Malcolm Roberts. She can certainly read her audience, though.

She totally owns that.

What worries me is that it's the likes of Pauline Hanson delivering this message. It does add a nail in the coffin to women's rights when your traditional leftie voters despise her and her racist (in the real sense, going back 30 years) views.

Helleofabore · 18/05/2022 13:20

OMG Sandgroper!

I would say 'please explain!' but I think it is clear.

TheSandgroper · 18/05/2022 13:10

Perhaps a vote for Pauline?

It any political party has to rely on the Australian Greens as a coalition partner, Australia is buggered.

Albo is good on local issues. He was my MP for a while and was very good back then for our electorate.

But ... it will be interesting to see if he gets in, just how he will deal with the gender identity issues at a federal level.

@MidCenturyClegs I haven’t been keeping track but a quick look at the headlines shows Labor getting in. You can take your pick whether it will be a wide or a narrow margin.

The Liberals have been in for a number of terms now and Australians may have a strong “it’s time for a change’ feeling, which we are wont to do. And then we have Scotty from Marketing (PM) who has supported Katharine Deves to the extent that he pulled rank and parachuted her into contesting the seat.

Saturday night with wine beside the fire is always the best bit so I can’t wait. However, pre poll and postal votes aren’t counted on the night. www.perthnow.com.au/politics/federal-election/federal-election-2022-greenfields-pre-poll-voting-centre-at-eastlake-church-garners-most-early-votes-in-wa-c-6834617 This year will be messy and I predict number of seats will not be decided the night.

I know a few Australians living in the States and in the U.K. who have been voting at their local embassies. A couple in France too. I'm guessing their votes are counted there and then their numbers shipped off.
I have family in Australia including young girls and boys so keenly watching. Thank you for standing up for women and girls over there Flowers

Just to be clear when I said 'nobody cares about transmen' I meant it is men and the media - who don't give them a single thought.

(Wonder why that is, could it be to do with the fact that they're FEMale and both socially conditioned to not make demands and in sports have next to no chance of taking away anything from men)

MidCenturyClegs · 18/05/2022 10:57

Why is it always "banning trans from women's sports" as opposed to "banning males with from female sports".
Or at least saying transwomen (transmen a whole different issue obvs but nobody cares about them).

What are the polls generally saying @TheSandgroper for the election? I did read recently Labor.

LilacTwine · 25/04/2022 13:11

My impression is that Morrison is also known to direct most of his campaigning towards men who might, just might, vote Labor. So trans woman in sport is one way to do that because sport is so central to Australian culture.

Also typical of Morrison is to use a woman in his party to do his dirty work.

Helleofabore · 25/04/2022 09:02

Ahhhhh…. I see. I am sorry. That first sentence threw me.

(and welcome to MN by the way)

WisdomOrOblivion · 25/04/2022 08:38

No, totally understand this affects all women. I 've been in this debate for three years on Twitter but I am new to mumsnet, perhaps I replied to the wrong post? I wanted to respond to the post about the issue not being of a concern to the LNP voters in Deve's electorate. Sorry for my ham fisted approach. It obviously didn't come across as I intended.

Helleofabore · 25/04/2022 08:19

WisdomOrOblivion

I understand the point you are trying to make. However, all women ARE impacted by this. Even if they have not realized it yet. Have you forgotten the issues facing the children and teens?

WisdomOrOblivion · 25/04/2022 07:46

This issue definitely not an issue for the ruling or middle classes of Liberal heartland. Working class women however are disproportionately affected by Gender Self-ID. For instance, Richard Pusey is trans maxxing to enter the Women's prison in Victoria. He is not trans. He is doing this to get a new identity - new name and birth certificate as well as access to women he can abuse and the pleasure of humiliating prison guards. Pusey is the notorious Porsche driver who filmed 4 dying police officers and laughed at them while they were dying. He was also charged with assaulting a woman dragging her up stairs and showing her a rope noose. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/melbourne/article-10730077/Notorious-Porsche-driver-Richard-Pusey-appears-court-wearing-pigtails.html

WalrusSubmarine · 24/04/2022 20:04

I agree as above that it’s probably not been brought up as a local issue for Zali in a big way and I can see how there would be annoyance that their area has been used for this sort of test case.

But you can’t have it both ways. Trans issues have been pushed hard in the media and by local groups (we’ve had many training sessions at work despite having no one). And yet when we do try to talk about the practicalities of moving forward in terms of safeguarding, protected attributes and employment/legislation, the impact on women in sport etc then we just get rapped across the knuckles and told to shut up and that it’s not really an issue!

We can’t go on like this for much longer. The censorship is not reassuring.

Helleofabore · 24/04/2022 14:01

Oh.... I remember Clinch and that case. That was a doozy.

And isn't it really interesting that without filters etc, pics are often very clear as to the sex of the person in the photo.

Crackersnack · 24/04/2022 13:53

Re the moderating and disappearing comments- I just remembered this legal case from a few years ago. I don't know much about the details or how far the ruling would extend. But as it related directly to transgender issued I imagine it would be affecting what news outlets will publish in the comments.

Are there any Aussie lawyers here who could provide insight?
