What is a Woman? Advert. The tide is truly turning...

"Florida-based watch manufacturer Egard Watches has created an ad spot in defense of biological women’s rights.

What are the details?
The video opens with footage of accomplished women, including female athletes and others, and shows women through the decades and even centuries fighting for equal rights.

"What is a woman?" the female narrator says. "Is women's history of achievements quickly being erased? Is a woman a feminine force of nature? Is a woman a sister, a daughter, a mother? Is a woman the wonder of childbirth?"

"Is a woman a caregiver?" the narrator continues. "Is a woman a warrior who fought for her place?"

The video continues, "Is that now being taken away, soon to be forgotten? Is that not worth protecting? And how long do we sit idly by and not stand for the sacred value of womanhood as it loses all meaning?"

"Because we believe that womanhood is a birthright," the narrator concludes.

What else?
In a statement provided to Blaze Media, Egard CEO Ilan Srulovicz said, “The overwhelming majority of Americans are appalled by Big Tech, Big Business, and Big Government’s coordinated campaign to erase the hard-fought gains earned by untold millions of amazing women in our society."

"Yet, almost nobody is speaking for them," Srulovicz continued. "We crafted an ad campaign that celebrates our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, aunts, and daughters, and everything they represent to paint a stark contrast to the lies we are all being told."

Srulovicz added, "The push for transgender rights is no longer about equality, it’s now a cleverly-crafted lie that comes at the expense of women. We ask all Americans to join us to speak truth.”

This is a VERY powerful advert

I have to admit I do have a bit of a crush on him 😆

He’s finer than frog’s hair! 😝

The whole thing is a problem with American cultural imperialism tbh.

We don't want their gender identity ideology, but nor do we need their total lack of understanding of UK grass roots feminism dominating the conversation. All this is toxic as fuck.

Nah, I get it. Someone asked for an American perspective, but it’s good. I thought we all had a common goal? Still got a soft spot for my friends in the UK. No hard feelings, eh. I’ll see myself out.

Fabulous! I also spun the wheel for 15% off so shall also order one of those lovely necklaces. Quite fancy a new watch too…

capncrunch · 20/04/2022 09:41

What about women who aren't feminine? Is a butch lesbian less of a woman?

Of course not, as long as they've got XX chromosomes they're a woman.

Blow by blow for those who haven’t watched the ad. I may have missed a thing or two.

Voiceover “Women’s Achievements are being erased” with photos of trans males winning things from women. Fallon Fox breaking open her opponent’s skull. Lia Thomas lapping everyone.

A picture of a mother and a newborn child and underneath it it says ”Biden is removing the word woman and mother from the Maternal Healthguide.”

“A woman is a warrior who fought for her place” (showing women fighting for the right to vote)

“Is that now being taken away” …and shows the Supreme Court Justice not able to answer what is a woman. (It’s being taken away because a SUPREME COURT JUSTICE doesn’t know what a woman is, the person who will be hearing very important cases about what a woman is. It’s not showing her because she’s stupid it’s showing her because she’s pretending to be stupid about women’s rights, what we are all here fighting for.

“ Says how long do we idly sit by” …it shows seven men raping women in a womens prison. It shows old women black women strong women young women. I was in tears after.

I’ve heard this guy speak and he cares and believes in this issue. Stop demonizing him because he said the word caregiver. For fuckity fuck all fuck.

You missed the bit about women being a "feminine force of nature".

What about women who aren't feminine? Is a butch lesbian less of a woman?

Are you aware of the religious right in America - what they stand for and how powerful they are?

capncrunch · 20/04/2022 09:29

I would rather the rather old- fashioned vision of womanhood of this advert, than the 'anyone can be a woman' narrative, of the trans lobby.

Absolutely, women and girls safety is paramount and this is a hill I'm willing to die on.

I think this is getting heated because of the difference between UK and US feminists, British feminists support pro-lifers such as Posie Parker & Caroline Farrow (who got a big love ❤️ from JKR)

All it takes, is one man, in a changing room, in a women's prison, on a woman's hospital ward, to reduce what should be a single-sex space, to mixed-sex space.

One man. That's how the maths works.
One man in a women's swimming race, and all the women might have just as well stayed at home. One man.

The trolls on this thread are having such fun with their hand- waving about 'moral panic'. But men and women are different. Men cannot be women.

I would rather the rather old- fashioned vision of womanhood of this advert, than the 'anyone can be a woman' narrative, of the trans lobby.

The threat to women from the trans lobby is so extreme, that for a while all other women's rights issues will have to be put to one side.

No, women's rights issues don't need to be pushed to one side. If that happens we risk losing them altogether.

It doesn't have to be a choice between conservatism or trans activism. In the UK, we have a long tradition of sucessful left wing feminist activism, and that's the largest group that's been fighting this.

America doesn't have a grass roots, feminist movement like we do.

Please don't think you need to destroy our feminist movement to fight gender identity ideology, you really don't. You are being played if you think you do.

Again, feminism is not conservatism.

What is a Woman? Advert. The tide is truly turning...

I'm curious, what do women on this thread think the phrase Gender Critical means?

Truer43 · 20/04/2022 07:46

Looks like the TRA's have been on the board overnight

@user1471504747 &@notwhatineednow we see you

You see TRAs? Fuck me, you need your eyes tested.

I've been actively campaigning against gender ideology for over 5 years now. I've organised events, spoken to MPs, brought women together in various ways, distributed flyers, written blogs and spent pretty much all my spare time and what little spare money I have fighting this cause.

What I haven't done is get into bed with pro-lifers or people who are actively campaigning against the gains feminists made over the last 50 years.

Sadly, it's become apparent that we can't rest on the laurels of our foremothers. We need to keep on fighting for our rights or we lose them.

The world the religious right in America are fighting for isn't one in which women are empowered. Women are being denied abortion and having access to contraception restricted in modern day America. Do you support that?

I notice no one has addressed that point.

Feminism is meant to be an analysis, not just an allegience to a single issue. It's utterly depressing to see so many women here, on the feminist board, who are so unwilling to use criticial thinking to work out what that ad is trying to sell you.

I can see we have more work to do that I realised Sad.

Snoodsy · 20/04/2022 09:04

The trolls and MRA’s are taking over, but keep it down please, the left is about to tell us everything we want to hear…wha-what? You don’t know what a woman is? Sigh. Can I sit next to you Tucker?

@user1471504747 &@notwhatineednow we see you

What have I said that makes me sound like a TRA?

As another poster (can’t remember who) said, my enemies enemy is not always automatically my friend. A lot of posters have highlighted the issues with the advert and company far more eloquently than I. I think in the long run supporting anti women organisations or individuals just because they agree with feminists on one issue (and for different reasons) will do far more harm to women than good.

im also very skeptical about what women’s charities the money will be going to

Snoodsy · 20/04/2022 08:55

@Truer43 I just had an awesome, if not a bit pissy blow by blow of why it is an amazing ad but now I won’t waste my finger energy. Too fucking bad, men, if women being celebrated gets your panties in a twist, but deal with it. I don’t even think some people have watched the ad, I was tearing up at the end.

I can’t wait to get my necklace!

Tonight Tucker and Hannity did more segments on the insidious nature of the movement in schools and how parents are fighting back. They also talked about the hundreds of millions of dollars being thrown into this industry to get people to pretend like they believe in it. Tucker is the number one cable news show Fox is the number one cable news channel so this is getting heard, y’all.

Wow! Brilliant. But it's very painful to see that the senator asking for a definition of woman is a white Republican, and it's a black woman - Biden's Supreme Court nominee -- saying she can't give a definition.

Also a shame they mention ‘big tech’ etc as that’s often spouted in reference to Trump being banned on some social media sites and it’s all painted as some big tech Democrat conspiracy to squash “free speech”
but yes apart from that….

Good lord, what a load of hifalutin piffle. LOL!

A tiny, tiny few people, born as males, now describe themselves as females. And that's all it takes, seriously, for all those born female to squeal and burst into tears that this tiny few people, possessed of penises and testicles, to oppress them. Well, not even just that, nowadays: to erase them.

I must ask my male friends what it feels like to have been erased, because there are now transmales claiming to be males. I shall report back if any of them - any of them at all - say anything other than e.g. 'Eh? What the F do you mean by being 'erased'? No, last I checked, I'm still here ... no one's rubbed me out!'

Lawd god, has feminism failed, so utterly and completely, if all it takes to reduce women to tears is just one in - what, 100? 400? people who were born male to say 'Hey, I'm a woman now!'. Feminism tried so hard, and so long, to convince women that not having a scrotum and penis didn't mean that they were automatically weaker, more vulnerable and inferior to males ... and now, all that's at an end. Just one person in a women's changing room, equipped with male tackle, is all it takes to destroy all that empowerment.

Utterly, completely pathetic. The entire project of feminism destroyed by a bunch of self-proclaimed, modern-day proponents of feminism who absolutely insist that women are weeds next to men, and can't be anything else. What a travesty.

user1471504747 · 19/04/2022 23:55

@MangyInseam

If feminism is only left wing it's really not relevant to about half of women, and needs to stop pretending that it takes all women seriously. There is no more reason we should think of it as any more important than any other partisan viewpoint, and it certainly should not claim to speak for women.

Conservatives in the US are about as likely to be women as men. If feminism imagines it's for all women, then it needs to listen to them and not behave like some kind of patronizing parent speaking on their behalf because they don't really know what they think or what's good for them. They really aren't all chained up in the kitchen without enough education to have an opinion.

If you don’t think there are women actively campaigning against women’s rights then I don’t know what to tell you.

I’ll listen to them, but I don’t need to agree with them or shape my feminism around their misogynistic demands just because they happen to be women.
