Extremely vocal intervention by CB following a jury finding his fellow Conservative Wakefield MP guilty of sexual assault....

Let’s not forget that with the exception of Joanna Cherry who knew what he was up to, those now scurrying to resign were happy to serve on a committee with him despite all this:

sex-matters.org/posts/updates/crispin-blunt-mp-ordered-to-apologise-for-breach-of-parliamentary-rules-over-attempt-to-make-secret-deal-on-self-id/

Glad they have finally seen what he’s about, but they were happy for him to circulate a paper in secret calling for the dismantlement of single sed spaces.

DomesticatedZombie · 11/04/2022 23:40

Listen, if I was a gay man I'd be fucking outraged. They deserve better representation.

tabbycatstripy · 11/04/2022 23:39

‘If not wanting adults to sexually abuse children makes me a Victorian then stick me in bloomers and call me not amused.’

We are most definitely not amused.

Joanna Cherry on Twitter;
''I’ve stayed a member of the APPG on Global LGBT Rights against my better judgment mainly because I was determined not to be bullied out as a gender critical lesbian but chair Crispin Blunt’s statement tonight is the last straw. I’ll be resigning tomorrow.''

He’s confused ‘Protected Characteristic’ with ‘Impunity’. He’s an idiot.

zanahoria · 11/04/2022 23:07

Blunt's statement declared

"I sat through some of the trial"

Some of it?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 11/04/2022 23:07

The Mail have picked this up and there's some very interesting information about how hard Khan worked to stop the press reporting the case with them having to fight a costly legal battle to be allowed to report on it.
He also apparently claimed that the sexual acts were 'consensual'.(a 38 year old man with a 15 year old)

*woke agreement

Organictangerine · 11/04/2022 22:57
@Organictangerine that he thinks it isnt surprising. That he is so blatant about being ok with child abuse, does surprise me.

There loads of people that think women's rights and abuse of women doesn't matter. That's not rare, sadly. He has plenty if support on that.

Its very rare to find alot of support for someone who believes child abuse is fine.
I’m going to be honest here and say I wouldn’t be surprised if a high percentage of people who are very vocal about supporting self ID, teaching ‘queer theory’ in schools etc (not just people in generalised work agreement) do not have… distasteful views towards the rights of children also. At least much higher than in the general population.

Man is convicted for sexually assaulting a minor: Crispin Blunt talks of his friendship and outrage. Woman (Lisa Townsend) stands up for sex-based rights, Blunt makes formal complaints about her and tries to get her kicked out of her party and fired. Admirable all round

@tabbycatstripy

Blunt’s statements risk conflating LBG with being a child molester, suggesting that Khan was convicted because he was gay rather then because he assaulted a child.
Yes, indeed. It's abhorrent.
mirax · 11/04/2022 22:55

Outrageous sense of entitlement creates Blunt's downfall. Is there any feasible way he can come back from this car crash? Perhaps one that will win him applause and cries of "stunning and brave!"?

zanahoria · 11/04/2022 22:55

Ahmad Khan, MP for Wakefield since December 2019. His conviction today is nothing short of an international scandal, with dreadful wider implications for millions of LGBT+ muslims around the world

Considering many will live in countries where homosexuality is a crime, I doubt they will be that bothered by a case in a nation where homosexuality is not illegal and the man was given a fair trial.

PermanentTemporary · 11/04/2022 22:55

Maybe he means he knows lots of straight Christian MPs who've done worse things and nobody is interested? That's certainly possible but not really an argument for not prosecuting sexual assault.

backtobusy · 11/04/2022 22:49

This seems particularly deranged even by his standards.

People who are Muslim and gay should be allowed to sexually assault children?
That is quite the take for Crispin to have.

Also about as unhelpful for either minority group as you could get.

PronounssheRa · 11/04/2022 22:44

Joanna Cherry has also resigned from the APPG

JoanOgden · 11/04/2022 22:43

Juries don't convict easily when it's one party's word against the other. I can only assume that they found the victim's evidence compelling. Shame on Crispin for casting doubt on their verdict.

dropthevipers · 11/04/2022 22:39

I really dont understand why he has done this. If a dreadful miscarriage of justice has taken place, then lets see the proof. Oh, there is none. Right. In which case the only other reason must be that gay peadophiles must not be prosecuted otherwise we will think they are terrible people. Well, er, we do. Duh! The man is more deranged than I thought.Which is saying something.

Butfirstcoffees · 11/04/2022 22:38

Two is a good start... Will courage call to courage among the chaps I wonder?

Overdoing the poppers.

Live4weekend · 11/04/2022 22:32

I suspect on BBC news tomorrow morning we will hear he had had the whip withdrawn.

It's a shocking tweet and I can't understand what he thought it would achieve.
