This is in today's paper and states again that Dept for Education is working on the guidelines.

8 in 10 teachers say their secondary school has trans pupils

"Asked what they thought had contributed to students’ altered identity, approximately 60 per cent of secondary school teachers cited there being trans or non-binary celebrities in the media. About 80 per cent said their school would refer to a pupil by their chosen name and pronouns if asked by a trans or non-binary student and their parent."

And

"A spokesman for the Department for Education said yesterday: “We recognise that gender identity can be a complex and sensitive topic for schools to navigate.

“We know many teachers are having these important conversations with their pupils, including through the relationship, sex and health education curriculum which is designed to foster respect for others in a way that respects everyone’s views.

“We will be working with the Equalities and Human Rights Commission as we consider our next steps for supporting schools in this area.”"

Did you mean women with penises? That would be up to the individual lesbian surely.

And yet, I have also witnessed a conversation between 7 teens, most of who are homosexual where these friends are telling the group that to not accept 'dick' if it is a 'lesbian dick' is horrifically transphobic.

Do you understand the degree of peer pressure that is being applied to these teens by their friends?

"Many of these guidelines produced by schools and local authorities have been withdrawn because they were found to be in breach of the law"

As I said the pedagogy will evolve and develop over time if it is found to be more accessible and to comply with changing legal frameworks etc.

I've already stated that we "lie" to students all the time by providing out of date simplified models that are accessible to them. These models are modified and expanded upon as we get older.

As I stated have you still not realised that most teachers are not activists out to promote certain choice? We are simply teaching along guidelines and using approaches that change as society does, but not driving those changes ourselves?

tabbycatstripy · 11/04/2022 15:13

‘ No I am teaching a model that has been agreed by the relevant school leadership team , approved in the school policies and signed off by the governor's. this makes me an activist apparently?’

So you admit you are teaching kids something you don’t understand and can’t critique?

rogdmum · 11/04/2022 15:10

I don’t think there’s any great conspiracy. I do think where an activist school is pushing gender ideology, great harm can be done. Here’s a screenshot from the last paragraph of the Guidance for Transgender Pupils at my daughter’s school. It says:

“The linked pdf does not represent the views or approach taken by [school]. The article, on gender dysphoria serves to help those professionals who are supporting young people to understand that there may be parents/carers who feel that an ‘affirmative approach’ is unhelpful and that their child is gender dysphoric rather than trans.”

The linked pdf is to this page:

www.transgendertrend.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Current-Evidence-in-the-Treatment-of-Gender-Dysphoric-Children-and-Young-People.pdf

As a parent, where do you even start with that? The school seems to be telling their teachers that they believe in some sort of gendered soul, that they don’t believe in gender dysphoria?

It is incomprehensible.

Women don't have penises. Women are female.

I recognise this may not be an idealogy you agree with,in which case raise it with your child's school. You would probably find that schools are full of overworked overwhelmed teachers and are organisations of glacial beauracracy. As I said the pedagogy and approach may change but probably very gradually.

If I went to a different school there would be small variations in what was taught. I still fail to see where any of this causes exploitation.

School policies still have to comply with the law.

Many of these guidelines produced by schools and local authorities have been withdrawn because they were found to be in breach of the law.

So let me get this straight . You get to be all " progressive and inclusive " give ukurself a nice pat on the back.that you aren't like us feminists. But

Nothing is your job. Everything is passed onto everyone else. If they dont tell parents it's not your problem. You stick to "approved materials" and because they are approved it doesn't actually matter to you what they say ir whether you are lying to the children because checking then.was someone else's job also. Amd you won't answer any questions because none of it is your responsibility.

Well least you sleep at night I guess. You just let eveeyone else clear up your mess

Helleofabore · 11/04/2022 15:04

Please point to the posts stating that teachers are deliberately exploiting mental illnesses of children.

Please copy and paste them so we know which posts you are talking about.

And then let's discuss.

But at the moment you have been throwing around some pretty prejudiced views and denigrations on this thread of parents giving examples of how their children are being let down.

We KNOW teachers are overworked and under resourced. However, this issue is vital to get right. If schools cannot get it right, they should not be using poorly developed materials and giving information that can so easily be misinterpreted by children. And they should NOT be making changes to student records without parent's consent.

LittleWhingingWoman · 11/04/2022 15:01

I'm not sure how any of these affirming teachers can live with themselves. They must know that they are encouraging kids on a dangerous pathway of medicalisation and surgery. They KNOW it.
As the tide turns they will have no protection from the parents asking "why did you allow this to happen, how could you have encouraged this, we trusted our children with you."

It's an actual horror story.

"whether you step in when.a child declares a trans identity"

If a child declares that to me I would be reported to the safeguarding and pastoral team. They would make all other decisions such as whether to inform parents etc

LittleWhingingWoman · 11/04/2022 14:56

@walksen

"I hope they recommend stopping teaching transgenderism in schools."

Perhaps that might appear in section 28......

Current school lessons at my daughters school have been telling children that lesbians are same gender attracted. Do you think that Lesbians should accept men with penises? Get in the sea.

Whatwouldscullydo · 11/04/2022 14:47

But the materials all create more questions than they answer. Stonewall define homosexuality as same gender attraction so do you allow the girls in your classes to believe lesbians have a penis or do you correct the definition?

You seem to he avoiding providing vital answers like definitions , whether you step in when.a child declares a trans identity but you are aware of all the mis information and mental vulnerable of the student and you seek.to think.its ok to just go along with it because diagnosing any other problems.isnt hour job/problem .

Its actually our job as pareNts but guess what THEY WONT TELL US. So who do these kids have then if you won't step in and parents are in the dark.

Don't hide behind job roles . You are a coward and a liar

tabbycatstripy · 11/04/2022 14:46

You are coming across as though you are happy to promote a very questionable ideology that you have decided to believe in, based on the struggles of a small number of children with gender-related distress.

You can’t explain it, support it or justify it. You’ve had your backside handed to you over several pages and you’ve yet to say what you think you are teaching.

Inadequate.

walksen · 11/04/2022 14:44

"It’s exactly how you are coming across here""

How am I exploiting the mental illness of pupils, exactly?

Sunflower987 · 11/04/2022 14:44

It's been really pushed by certain teachers in my children's school.
Now we have some kids that think biological men can give birth and that if when you are older and you are say a lesbian or straight and you don't want to have sex with a transwoman with a penis you are a transphobe.

They are taking away boundaries that they should be installing for young people, sexual orientation is real.
Nobody has to have sex with someone who they don't want to and who are not of their sexual orientation.

We have also had a case of a teacher teaching the children certain famous people that have spoken out for women's rights are transphobic.

It's an absolute mess.

Safeguarding and boundaries blurred everywhere.

tabbycatstripy · 11/04/2022 14:43

‘I actually do teach it when required to do so, following the guidelines of the school because it is part of my job’

Then as I said above, we are going to campaign on this until you are made to do your job right. Because at the moment (given what we’ve seen here) I wouldn’t let you teach my child to paint their face like an orange.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 11/04/2022 14:43

walksen Every time a professional gets defensive on here (especially when they've initially outed themselves to have a flawed understanding of safeguarding) they end up defending the indefensible.
You're trying to lecture parents, lesbians, teachers, safeguarding experts who know this stuff. Yes - the majority of teachers are responsible and try to navigate this ideology with care. But having taught SRE for years and worked with schools navigating this ideology, some teachers prioritise their activism rather than children's needs and safety. This government's refusal to offer core advice left schools dependent on self interested groups for advice - and some of the "training" has been truly awful - resulting in poor, child inappropriate practice.
Refusing to accept that simply leads to an ideology being more important than children's needs. Just look at the Ockenden report into maternity services to see what happens when professionals prioritise an ideology rather than good practice.

walksen · 11/04/2022 14:41

"And yet you think you should be standing in front of children teaching them this topic using “simplified” (read: invented) models you can’t actually explain yourself."

I actually do teach it when required to do so, following the guidelines of the school because it is part of my job.

tabbycatstripy · 11/04/2022 14:40

You do. And the law doesn’t enshrine the term ”gender identity”. Nor does the law recognise children (or anyone) as “trans”. People have the protected characteristic of gender reassignment, and some people have legally changed their sex markers to match an internal perception they call “gender”.

So try teaching it like that.

walksen · 11/04/2022 14:37

"Could you also confirm whether or not, in your capacity as a teacher, you believe that homosexuality is based on sex? Or is it based on gender identity"

My personal beliefs are irrelevant. We have to be neutral on such issues as politics and support the rule of law etc.

tabbycatstripy · 11/04/2022 14:34

‘No I have some resentment against parents who believe teachers are activists who are deliberately exploiting mental illness of children they teach, which is a baseless and offensive assertion’

It’s exactly how you are coming across here. No facts, no evidence, no credibility. And yet you think you should be standing in front of children teaching them this topic using “simplified” (read: invented) models you can’t actually explain yourself.

Our next step will be showing people this thread.
