Oh cripes, I wasn't up to date on what the wife has said. How very odd.

Although I suppose if Eric Joyce's wife can stand by him, anything is possible. Can't understand either of them myself.

But hang on with the “Tory Wife” stuff: what have the sex-work positive activists from e.g. the Guardian got to say about all this? Surely Little OJ et al will be praising Neil Parish for his visible show of support?

Ha they must be tying themselves in knots.

I almost feel sorry for the Tory wife, so deluded, like many, about the realities of who participates in porn and why. Clearly lived in a home counties bubble with no idea what her husband was actually like. Reality comes crashing down now.

I wonder if she's in shock at the moment. She may well wake up and LTB at a later date.

In addition, it seems that his wife has released a statement condemning any man who watches porn in a public place and thereby making all the women around him feel uncomfortable; nevertheless, she slipped in, at the end of the statement, that for all the men watching porn, there are women who “pose” for it.

Yes indeed, and that (IMO) is the most serious of the problems of porn, much more serious than bystanders feeling uncomfortable. Not that the latter is ok, of course, just that the former is obviously often abusive and damaging. I take it that's not what she meant?Hmm

Tory Wife clearly has no idea just who and what 'poses' for porn.Confused

Exploited young women. Yes.

FrancescaContini · 29/04/2022 19:51

Yeah, her final sentence totally undermines, if not negates, what she initially says.

I would end my marriage immediately if this were my husband.

Jeremy Vine earlier in the week, radio2, covered this. Make opinion seemed to be that as porn is legal, HoC is boring, men will be men, whatever...

Nothing at all about making women feel uncomfortable, the whole nastiness of porn, or ANY work place not being the right place!

I don't mind admitting I surprised myself shouting at the radio. Scared the 🐕

I can’t stand JV, always sounds so pleased with himself, but I am shocked to hear that this was his show’s perspective on the issue. Boys will be boys, eh? 🤔

I’m beyond disgusted by the issue. It’s a further erosion of the boundaries of what’s considered acceptable behaviour in public places. In the HoC, FFS!! I just watched this slippery little AH of an MP on Sky news repeatedly saying “we will await the outcome of the inquiry.” In addition, it seems that his wife has released a statement condemning any man who watches porn in a public place and thereby making all the women around him feel uncomfortable; nevertheless, she slipped in, at the end of the statement, that for all the men watching porn, there are women who “pose” for it. Thanks for that unsisterly move, Tory Wife 😡

Ffs. How would they feel if women were glued to their phones getting all hot and sweaty about watching men being slapped and spat on and strangled by beings twice their size?

ErrolTheDragon · 29/04/2022 18:54

Yesterday's Times cartoon obviously wasn't accidental though.
Caption - Porn in the Commons: Tory Whips hand out discipline.
Whip depicted as corpulent figure in rubber gear, saying 'How many lashes would you like'.Hmm

Har flipping har.

Bosky · 29/04/2022 18:26

Yes, it's grim but even when they are trying to be serious, this happens, which I think might be unintentional:

"Neil Parish named as Tory MP accused of watching porn in Commons"
Chairman of environment committee has whip removed after allegations

(The Times: Share token)

NancyDrawed · 29/04/2022 17:59

The subject matter is grim, I agree and not in any way funny.

Wrt to the porn watching MP, the headline accessed from this link is a belter!!

metro.co.uk/2022/04/27/tory-caught-watching-porn-in-commons-while-sat-next-to-female-minister-16543511/

As is the headline on this one:
metro.co.uk/2022/04/28/tory-mp-who-watched-porn-in-commons-faces-being-discharged-from-party-16548970/?ico=tag-post-strip_item_3_news

The only thing is, this isn’t really funny, is it? And Metro has previous as being pretty misogynistic in its coverage of some topics

SpindleInTheWind · 29/04/2022 17:25

That's a cracking headline. Respect.

The MP spotted watching downloaded pornographic content is some nobdie called Neil Parish (Con, Tiverton).

tabbycatstripy · 29/04/2022 09:59

He's not the porn MP. Not a member of the 2015, 2017 or 2019 intakes, according to news.

RebelNotHon · 28/04/2022 22:40

I hope he's the porn-watcher, and they get rid before doing a whole Augean stables number on the rest of the women haters.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 28/04/2022 22:33

Quality 😉

The Conservatives vetted him and thought that was the kind of person who would make a perfect MP?

Ah, yes - it all makes a lot more sense when you put it like that.

zanahoria · 28/04/2022 18:39

I bet he makes his trans debut in court probably with a twin-set and pearls

ErrolTheDragon · 28/04/2022 18:29

BootsAndRoots · 28/04/2022 17:44

All of this was coming, that's why he's played the trans card.

They didn't mention him being 'trans' on the brief bbc radio report I heard earlier, so maybe he's not going to find it as helpful as he may have imagined.
