Hi, trying to connect to other GC’s in the US. Just to have an idea of what’s happening. I see tons of GC stuff on Twitter from UK women but little from US women. I’m currently in North Carolina but live normally in Texas (Fort Worth). I don’t know anyone in North Carolina (Southern Pines) and feel very powerless! I have no organization I’m just attempting to connect so we can attempt to be somewhere as awesome as our UK counterparts.

I have lurked here periodically for the last couple of years, but I decided to finally sign up today after the latest bru-ha-ha on Twitter. Just want to add that I too am in North Carolina, outside of Raleigh. Glad to see a thread up for US women, and hopefully we'll see more international women joining as well!

Hello everyone Smile

23Hares · 24/03/2022 20:12

Welcome friends, will be interesting to hear how things are going over there.

One question...if those of us in the UK are vipers what's your equivalent? Rattlers?

FrancescaContini · 24/03/2022 20:03

Good luck to our GC sisters in the USA. Flowers

This does present a dilemma. Do we put out biscuits or cookies for new visitors?

Well a good old MN question is “what’s your favourite 😉 biscuit?”…

ErrolTheDragon · 24/03/2022 19:38

@MissSteak

” This does present a dilemma. Do we put out biscuits or cookies for new visitors?”. DomesticatedZombie

Both. Sometimes you want chewy. Other times, crunchy.

Anyway - more is more!

Yes... but please don't put gravy on the biscuits here. You may dunk them in a nice cup of tea. BrewBiscuit

@OscarWildebeest my current favourite username

US poster here - been here for a few years! In the far north, so not close to you geographically. US women's feminist and women's Democrat groups get shut down on FB or you get booted out if you're not nice or subscribe to groupthink, so women in the US have fewer online resources. Ovarit has a lot of US women as does Lipstick Alley (for Black women). I feel welcome on MN...my biggest takeaway is the word c*nt is not as bad in the UK as it is across the pond. I still cringe when I hear it but I don't take offense if it's a UK person speaking. The best thing about MN is learning about matching toasters/kettles. I'm very envious.

DomesticatedZombie · 24/03/2022 19:17

I think 'Bepenised Overlord' would make a good Tshirt were we to reach out to the Ychromosomed market. We'd need something pithy on the back, though.

BathTangle · 24/03/2022 19:08

Welcome to our friends from across the pond!!

Hello from Pennsylvania!
I live in one of the more conservative counties in the state, but the klaxon of “TWAW” has somehow taken over here. The liberal people in my area aren’t interested in trying to do anything useful (common sense gun control, funding schools, feeding people, etc.), they’re all busy making sure that our Bepenised Overlords can intrude anywhere they’d like. The conservatives are busy stockpiling ammunition and ‘rolling coal’ to show Biden what’s what.

I feel like I’m losing my mind and I want to flee the country.

beastlyslumber · 24/03/2022 18:30

Hey, hope you find lots of like-minded women. I just wanted to say that Bridget Phetasy had two women from WoLF on her podcast recently, and they were talking about the bill to keep men out of women's prisons. That might be something worth finding out more about/organising around.

DomesticatedZombie · 24/03/2022 18:28

@BenCooperisaGod

Welcome! But you better spell stuff right.

Welcome to MN. Good to see you all. :)

Happy to have you join us.

HildaHedgehog · 24/03/2022 18:02

I just saw your tweet on this subject on Twitter. Welcome to Mumsnet. I hope a veritable transatlantic tsunami makes its way here to join us!! Bit hugs, Hx

DontLikeCrumpets · 24/03/2022 17:32

@LostTxn There are excellent GC forums in the US, for instance Ovarit at ovarit.com/o/GenderCritical. If you want to join just email the administration

SouthJerseyShore · 24/03/2022 17:23

Hello! Thanks for posting this thread and alerting the Americans that we can join Mumsnet too! I am located in New Jersey. I post on twitter anonymously as I am surrounded by UN-likeminded people. I don't know that many people, and yet THREE of the young girls in my social network are now claiming to be NB. Two have changed their names. I have two daughters, and I worry so much for them in this crazy new biology denying world. Would LOVE to meet someone in my area to rant with in person, but until that day comes, I am so thankful to find all of you online. Smile

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

I'm Scottish, agree with *@WouldBeGood* - it's pretty dire here.

However, we can cope with liberal application of foul language. I'm a bit worried about my North American GCs - seems to me that you are generally more conservative in language?

If you ever feel like you need a really good "Faaaaaaaaaaaaarkinell" then do message on here. The Scots will donate, we never run out of fucks to give.

Solidarity, sister.

Hahaha! I love to cuss Idk what’s wrong with these other women! We need some more outrage for sure. I don’t know why it’s all gotten thru so easily. I didn’t know about the schools & kids being allowed to trans until Texas passed their law. A bit of a shocker but you know “everything’s bigger in Texas.” I have been saying wth ever since. Along with many other things. My husband is sick of me & I told him I will divorce him if he doesn’t get more outraged! 😆 Hopefully between the sports debacle and the SCOTUS hearings more people are peaking. I was out on the Republican Party well before trump’s term ended now the Democrats will want to redefine women to include men so out on them! It’s all so frustrating. I’m already not offended by TERF or transphobe. But I am by cis. This is a fkng nightmare.

Olderbadger1 · 24/03/2022 16:30

Welcome OP!
I often listen to WLR - womensliberationradionews.com/ - for updates on the feminist push-back and general rants. And do join the WDI crew - they run regular chatty webinars with women from across the globe. Helps one to feel less isolated.
There's also a MN pub - the Bluestocking which is a great place to go when it all gets to much to handle. Mind you, it's been a bit quiet there of late... maybe that's a sign that the tide seems to be turning here so there's less need for virtual alcohol or sustained swearing.

LostTxn · 24/03/2022 16:28

@DomesticatedZombie

Yeeha!

I hope that's not culturally insensitive. Welcome to Mumsnet.

Good to see some of you swimming over the pond, as it were.

Vipers to the left of me, witches to the right, here we are.

There's a few facebook groups for gender critical feminism that seems to be mostly US based posters.

😂Not when I use the word "y'all" regularly! Yeehaw! 😆
