"Anyone nastily trying to diminish Lia Thomas's incredible achievement because of lazy transphobia should frankly pipe down. Huge congratulations to her.'"

Well, I'm convinced. I'm packing up my women's rights and fucking off into the glorious new world.

Pipe down you bigots!

Exactly.

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

It's either paid off, or they're too stupid to grasp that what they're saying makes no sense, or they think it's a votewinner. In that last eventuality, I take comfort from the thread I read earlier today on FWR saying that current schoolkids are fed up to the back teeth with gender ideology. I hope that in a few years we will look back on this brief and horrifying interlude with incredulity.
Many of us have been viewing this ideology with increasing horror and incredulity over the past few years.

What will happen, though, to the children who have had crucial body parts removed in order to “change sex”?

@Toseland

I’m thinking now that Labour must have been massively paid off to say these things?
'Follow the money' usually has something to do with such inexplicable stances. It is known that the LibDems have had donations from a drugs company which makes puberty blockers.
Abitofalark · 23/03/2022 18:22

Great post, Lockedoors, Your frustration and anger come through very strongly. It's shameful to have an MP with so little class or clue as to how to conduct herself or behave to constituents. The Labour Party seems to have gone downhill in the quality of MPs. From criminals to drunks to uncouth abusers, liars, cowards and bullies of Rosie and deniers of women, reality and democracy, they have it all. Not for the first time, I wonder how they are selected and who selects them.

RVN123 · 23/03/2022 15:07

It's the culture of fear that allows such misinformation and downright lies to become "truth".
People are too afraid to question the things they are being told now.
"Ah, so transwomen have cervixes/periods/PMT? Great".

In this culture of cancellation/fear, people are just accepting the bullshit that's put out there.

Unquestioning acceptance is what they want.

Oh my god. The idiocy.

PronounssheRa · 23/03/2022 14:51

but a cervix is something I understand you can have following various procedures and hormone treatment

Yes he really did say that. twitter.com/LBC/status/1443125834626260993
Not sure if he thinks a cervix is grown from hormones or whether you can have a implant.

It was astonishing stuff.

FrancescaContini · 23/03/2022 14:44

Oh fuck off, Charlotte, whoever you are

theDudesmummy · 23/03/2022 14:42

I used to be anmajor admirer of David Lammy (lived in a neighbouring consituency). Canot believe the idiocy of his utterances shown on that Twitter thread. Can tht really be real? Not only misogynistic but absolutely ignorant. "It's probably the case that transwomen don't have ovaries [WTF?] but a cervix is something I understand you can have following various procedures and hormone treatment [WATF??]".

What a pity.

TheAbbotOfUnreason · 23/03/2022 14:27

@AlisonDonut

I have asked her who it was she was competing against - I'm guessing 'females' but she seems unable to respond.
It was so long ago she won’t remember.

I absolutely do care about partygate. And covid-related corruption, dodgy deals with Russian oligarchs, appalling welfare support for people with disabilities etc. But if labour has their way I will completely lose any ability to track how any/all political decisions impact women. That is too high of a price to pay, despite being very much on the left on pretty much every other issue.

DomesticatedZombie · 23/03/2022 14:12

I couldn't give a fuck about Partygate.

I care about women being protected in law. And open discourse. And evidence-based beliefs.

Yes, the Tories are corrupt and frequently lie. At least they don't really pretend to be anything other than they are. And they don't seem to try and foist their own 'side of history' on others like Labour are doing.

I agree with very little when it comes to Tory policy, but if Labour - or any other party - are determined to ignore women, then fine, I am happy to ignore them right back.

Hoppinggreen · 23/03/2022 14:11

@FromOurHatsToOurFeet

Is #pipedown the new #bekind? I think i prefer it - it's certainly more honest about what people really mean.
Same thing, along with #suckitupbitches

'Totally agree with all the above criticisms of Charlotte Nichols, but PLEASE don’t vote Tory because of this. Much better to challenge the bigots like Nichols. Let’s not forget Partygate...'

Partygate made me angry. This makes me very angry. Partygate was politicians being greedy and telling lies (they're politicians - I'm not shocked).

This is very different to that. It affects the law and the potential for democratic engagement. It affects our legal rights.

DomesticatedZombie · 23/03/2022 13:54

She distributed leaflets which pledged to deal with "Traveller incursions"

Genuinely shocked at this. Absolutely unacceptable.

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 23/03/2022 13:16

@GahAndTheBear

I’m entering all the Y2 races at the next primary school sports day. I’m going to tell everyone to pipe down and stop diminishing my amazing achievements (when I inevitably win) with their lazy ageism.
I support you! Stunning. Brave. Awesome!

But how can we challenge them - they are not listening. There is ONE Labour MP that has challenged this and she was bullied to the point she could attend a conference.
Lockedoorsopen · 23/03/2022 13:00

@CarbonelCat

I feel incensed by MPs thinking they can speak to the electorate like this.

I was a life long labour voter prior to this issue coming to light. Ben Bradshaw supporting the students at Brighton over the Dr Stock abuse, The ridiculous defence by John McDonnell of Ellie Mae O Hagan's insanity over women in prisons, the treatment of Rosie Duffield, the lack of clarity from Keir Starmer.....this is a single issue vote situation for me and I won't ever be voting labour again.

Yep I feel the same. Its as if they think we are all dickheads

I'm not going to vote Tory but while Labour have this approach I definitely won't vote Labour either. I had a very good gender critical Green candidate locally at the last general election, but the Green Party generally is iffy. LibDems are a lost cause. Women's Equality Party has a lot of ground to make up before I could consider voting for them. I voted for Count Binface at the last Mayoral election. His manifesto made as much sense as most of the others.

Sorry about the lack of proofreading. I am quite irate!

Blackberrycream · 23/03/2022 11:54

I saw this thread earlier and placed a watch. Whilst clearly active, it has disappeared from the active listing. I am noticing this more and more hence why I placed a watch. An mp telling people concerned about women’s rights telling people to pipe down should not be hidden which seems to be in effect what is happening. This site needs to take a good, hard look at their moderators.
