Sheila Fogarty was brilliant yesterday. If you listen to her on catch up at 2hrs 20 into her call, she managed the caller 'Kate' brilliantly. She would not tolerate accusations of 'far right' and 'anti-trans' as dismissal techniques of arguments. Not only in relation to slandering people but also as an argument lacking validity. We need more of this!

Just caught up with this. Some very interesting callers.
Some wonderful women, calmly and brilliantly explaining reality.

A couple of people who sounded a bit unhinged. Couldn't respond to challenge and couldn't answer very simple questions.
Peter Tatchel showing what a misogynistic twat he is. He knows some small and dainty transwomen therefore it's fine for them to be in sports or hospital wards. And we should only exclude those men convicted of rape from women's wards.

I am so glad that Tom keeps plugging away at this one.

Gosh, I feel a teeny bit sorry for Rachel - she doesn't understand what she has been told she should believe, so she can't articulate 'her' beliefs. I wonder whether she will have a bit of a moment where she realises what she has been told is nonsense, which is WHY it makes no sense when you try to explain.

He is always invited on to discussions like this. TRAs are generally reluctant to appear. I expect in this case having an obvious MTF would make the point that women have to share single sex spaces with males.

I thought he did a good job of letting those talking rubbish tie themselves up in knots and reveal themselves as clueless. I'm just so grateful for men like this who can see what's going on and are brave enough to get involved and shed some light on it.

I thought he did a pretty good job of challenging them. Certainly more than most. Agree that Tatchell was given way too much air time and shouldn't be given any exposure at all

I listened to this, in fairness to Tom Swarbrick he often has 'trans' stories on.

I am disappointed however that, yet again, we get Peter Tatchel talking crap, whilst Tom did pull him up a bit, not enough in my view. He allowed the second caller way too long although they did let quite a lot of sunlight in. I agree @KittenKong they do given transwomen a lot of air time which actually I wouldn't mind if there was robust questionning.

The hour didn't focus sufficiently on the hospital incident imo.

LBC seem to have a lot of night time listeners who are trans women. Many a night (insomniac) I have heard the voice of ‘Doris from Basingstoke’ and ‘Jane from Battersea’. Never heard a trans man call in though.

Indeed. I wasn't a parent at that time, but I was working in the NHS in a job that required basic safeguarding and it was very obvious to me and all my colleagues.

I don’t really understand PIE and how it got any traction. I vaguely remembered it at the time but it didn’t really register. Only relatively recently have I read more and been shocked about their plan.
They had a lot of support from people in government. Including Harriet Harman, if I remember correctly. Whenever I am puzzled regarding how some people seem to be teflon coated, I assume they must know where the bodies are buried. Given that there are so many incompetent people in high office, even to the extent of being given peerages and knighthoods, there must be an awful lot of bodies.
