  • haven't had a chance to keep an eye on his tribunal, but from what I'm reading:

'Dr Michael Webberley applied for voluntary erasure from the GMC register. The Tribunal say it is "unfortunate" that was not determined prior to the hearing today.

MW had two requests for postponement declined & has now provided new medical evidence for an adjournment'

His wife said he's already retired.

Signalbox · 25/05/2022 16:44

Sorry that was an answer to Magnolia not Geojellyfish.

I wonder if he intends to appeal?

For him it will be. You can reapply to be readmitted to the register after 5 years but it is not straightforward to get back on once you have been erased.

He requested voluntary removal (instead of a tribunal) so I am assuming that due to health / age he was ready to retire.

MagnoliaTaint · 25/05/2022 16:42

Do trans people not realise why some healthcare providers are relentless in their quest for 'affirmation' and medication for trans people?

Is it not obvious?

These people are not trying to help you, although they say they are. They are reckless, dangerous and dishonest.

People will promise impossible things if it is in their interests to do so.

I'm tired of people coming on here accusing women of hate, when all we're doing is trying our best to stop bad actors infiltrate every level of society. Wake up! Just because someone promises you the world does not mean they have your best interests at heart. In fact, it quite often can mean the opposite.

Datun · 25/05/2022 16:40

Is that what is meant by being struck off?

MagnoliaTaint · 25/05/2022 16:34

'transgender patients were put at risk of serious harm by Dr Webberley’s actions'

'A number of the transgender patients were vulnerable by reason of their age and/or mental health.'

'Dr Webberley had dishonestly given false information'

'if Dr Webberley had not known that he was practising far beyond the limits of his competence, he should have done'

Wow. That is very, very clear. And very damning.

Erasure is permanent?

MagnoliaTaint · 25/05/2022 16:28

'Dr Webberley’s behaviour was fundamentally incompatible with being a doctor. He further submitted that there had been a deliberate or reckless disregard for the principles set out in GMP and/or patient safety.'

tabbycatstripy · 25/05/2022 16:28

Wrong thread! 😂

MagnoliaTaint · 25/05/2022 16:28

'a sustained pattern of serious

misconduct. Dr Webberley had demonstrated a knowing desire to avoid the

necessary and proper regulation of all spheres of professional practice, whether

established or developing, which all doctors registered with the GMC are required to

submit to, and which Dr Webberley openly sought to avoid,'

tabbycatstripy · 25/05/2022 16:27

Saying SS was a ‘risk’ to Chambers didn’t mean he was some sort of nonce. It meant he was putting them at further risk in litigation terms, which he was. Not personal at all. This is bonkers.

geojellyfish · 25/05/2022 16:25

I wonder if he intends to appeal?

tabbycatstripy · 25/05/2022 16:23

Very good news. People will be a little bit safer without him handing out pills.

Signalbox · 25/05/2022 15:40

Just seen Webberley has been erased.

'I can't believe my surgeon's been reported to the police! I asked him to cut my leg off and he's always been really lovely to me. I think he's a great doctor and I'd recommend him to anyone else needing surgery for body dysmorphia.'

We're not far off this.

UnashamedFeministIntellectual · 20/05/2022 16:50

That statement! The total disregard for their victims, simply congratulating themselves/each other, is fucking abhorrent and sickening. It's also extremely telling. It speaks volumes.

(I mean "their" as in both the Webberleys - not a fucking pronoun thing)

MagnoliaTaint · 20/05/2022 16:39

'His patients have always loved him

And that's why they reported him to the tribunal, I presume?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/05/2022 08:17

I hope he gets struck off.

If he wanted to tell his story so desperately he should have turned up to his fecking tribunal

Very much so.

Bosky · 19/05/2022 21:32

Is there a typo in this part of the Determination of Facts?

  1. The Tribunal was unable to discern from the evidence generally or GenderGP’s records in particular, what if any, qualification any of these three individuals may have had, or indeed, what if any experience they had in transgender medicine. In particular, the Tribunal had no evidence to suggest that they could not properly be described as ‘mental health professionals’ as broadly defined by WPATH in respect of those individuals who are qualified in the assessment and diagnosis of gender dysphoria.

Surely that bolded section should read, "In particular, the Tribunal had no evidence to suggest that they could properly be described"?

ie. delete the word "not"

Daily Mail doing what they do. It must be horrific for the family of patient W in particular. If I remember correctly I think MW tried to get the hearing delayed and offered voluntary erasure but they declined both. He didn't want it to go ahead and then didn't show up when it was confirmed that it was continuing. I don't know what he expected, it's typical of HW to crow on as she is though, she's a walking bingo card that one. I can't see how he'll escape erasure.

All the supportive comments, some from former patients. Reminds me of when Shipman was arrested and everyone saying what a good Doctor he was.

I wish peace of heart and mind to the families and friends of the young people at the heart of these Tribunal hearings.

I deplore the thoughtlessness of Dr HW's DARVOing and references to Dr MW's health and need for "big surgery" when we consider what so many of these young people have been through and what they've yet to face (and may include surgery). I wish the children and young people health and happiness in their future and I sincerely hope that a decent clinical service is available for them.

geojellyfish · 19/05/2022 18:49

I don't understand why HW is complaining when he didn't put forward any evidence, witnesses or seek legal representation to defend himself?

She's critical of the expert witnesses called by GMC, but the whole point of conducting a tribunal is that it provides the opportunity to cross examine such evidence.
