  • haven't had a chance to keep an eye on his tribunal, but from what I'm reading:

'Dr Michael Webberley applied for voluntary erasure from the GMC register. The Tribunal say it is "unfortunate" that was not determined prior to the hearing today.

MW had two requests for postponement declined & has now provided new medical evidence for an adjournment'

VERY interesting :) Especially his application being rejected.

Good news, that means we will hear the evidence against him.

Oh wow, missed this. How interesting.

DomesticatedZombie · 15/03/2022 12:20

Not sure what's going on but it sounds like it's not going Dr Webberley's way so far.

'MW's application to be voluntarily erased from the GMC register has been rejected. He's also made a substantive application to substantively adjourn the case. The decision whether or not this happens will be made this Fri 18th from 9.30am'

I did see this and wondered the significance.

Is it like retiring before a disciplinary?

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 11/03/2022 15:32

And Kathryn Bristow was Very Cross about their HR policy refusing to give KB everything that KB wants. There's trouble 't mill...

I'm amazed. I've never heard of a medic voluntarily asking to give up being a medic.

Why wouldn't he just get a different job if he had tired of gastroenterology? Oh, hang on, he did, didn't he? Selling pharmaceuticals like a Wales/Malaga Breaking Bad.

Neither Helen Webberly nor Gender GP have been tweeting recently.

Definitely the move of someone with nothing to hide Hmm

WanderinWomb · 11/03/2022 13:55

This completely slipped my radar.

Looks like a sneaky move. Hopefully someone here can tell us a bit more about what it means for FTP hearing.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 11/03/2022 13:54

@Rhannion

Sly move on his part
Very smart if it doesn't interfere with his ability to practice overseas or to be part of a structure where someone else can do the actual prescribing. That's a common workaround for clinicians who've been reprimanded or actually struck off.

A lot may depend on what happens to Helen W. Or if certain other clinicians in this space elect to branch out into supporting them as part of private healthcare to coerce the NHS into then bridging and supporting.

'The Tribunal has asked for the VE decision to be taken by the case examiners by Friday pm.

If erasure is determined, then it seems the misconduct evidence will not be heard.'

'If MW's erasure application is rejected, the tribunal reconvenes on Monday (tbc) to agree adjournment case management & timing of medical witnesses.

We expect to be back with the VE case determination on Friday.'
