They're at it again. You'd think the last couple of weeks would have highlighted the value of being able to say your reporting was balanced and free from political bias, but there you go.

The Vaush thing is horrendous, and the way twitter have framed it as well.

Only really aware of him by reputation, but I did see this appalling bit from him last year on Selina Soule, Connecticut runner fighting against boys in her sport. Never seen misogyny articulated by someone not doing it under cover of anonymity.

The misogyny is just so clear to see, it's so fucking depressing.

WinterTrees · 10/03/2022 10:27

He has shown himself to be a persistent, committed and unapologetic abuser and manipulator of women. He's proud of it. And in giving him an international platform Twitter are endorsing his views and behaviour.

ScreamingMeMe · 10/03/2022 10:24

*second.

ScreamingMeMe · 10/03/2022 10:24

He really showed his arse with that seckbd tweet.

@IvyTwines

They're really scraping the bottom of the barrel today.
Who gives a fuck about some misogynistic neckbeard YouTuber? Desperate stuff.
WinterTrees · 10/03/2022 10:16

This is a new low for Twitter. Seriously. WTF.

Summary of this account and the situation here. Why are Twitter giving him the publicity? (Actually don't answer that because it's obvious and fucking depressing.)

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

Who or what is Vaush? Genuine question, neverheardofVaush before. I don't even know what a content creator is. Group, company, individual? I would have expected Twitter to use that side panel to highlight people and issues of wide interest, not pursue personal vendettas against one of the most successful and well known women in the world.
Self important leftie youtuber. Beard. Very into special identities. One of those sex work is work type men. Defender of pornography and all the other stuff you would expect leading from that.

@babyjellyfish

Twitter keeps mysteriously deciding to show me tweets from people I don't follow talking about how hard it is to be trans / the parent of a trans child.

I mostly tweet gender critical stuff.

I've noticed this too - 'you might be interested in'... I don't tweet about this but it knows I follow GC accounts and read up on threads. Saying that I follow and interact with LGBT accounts too, so it could be from that.

I get a lot flagged up from a recent post-op trans woman who tells everyone their 'boobs hurt' as part of their username, so Hmm

Yes, I'd like to think this insanity was all the work of sinister bots messing with our heads (as Radio 4's The Hackers says is also happening) but with Twitter and the other big social media providers, it's so clearly and blatantly coming from within. It goes full-on 'Pink News' where JKR is concerned.

@WinterTrees

Today's Twitter sidebar:

J.K. Rowling receives criticism for a series of Tweets following Shadow Minister of Equalities Anneliese Dodds' comments about the Labour Party's 'definition of a woman'

They should just make J.K Rowling receives criticism for... a daily feature.

Oh wait, they already have.

This is so true.

Whenever we see 'JK Rowling receives criticism for...' can we all just comment: 'Passive voice. Consider revising.' Even MS Office knows it's weasel wording!

Hasselhoffsheadband · 09/03/2022 10:38

@EeeICouldRipATissue

You just don't like people praising JKR, really. Well that's just tough I'm afraid.

Not at all just find any fawning adulation posts going '' yaaaas my Queen* and others gushing about their queen utterly bizarre

That's nice dear.
Hasselhoffsheadband · 09/03/2022 10:37

@EeeICouldRipATissue

Regardless, on twatter in 2022 it reads very embarrassingly.

Yes, you can feel yourself cringing for some of them
Mental image of them Wayne's World style at her feet going '' we're not worthy, we're not worthy! '' lol

Whereas when it's used for a male appropriating womanhood, dressed in a bra and knickers in a pornified pose (eg. Munroe Bergdorf) that's entirely appropriate is it? Because that sort of thing is the main usage of that phrase.

And yes, I'm sure that JKR prefers 'yas queen' to 'I hope your teeth rot and fall out of your skull you bitch' which popped up on the JK Rowling trending tag today.
