Russian Funding of anti-woke

It seems that someone has 'followed the money' and Putin's manipulation is everywhere amongst the anti-woke, including the Gender Critical. As the press rallies behind Putin by blaming the West's obsession with being woke ( obviously not the press obsessively being anti-woke ) it appears that so many easily influenced people have been victim to his manipulation and money

Honestly, this is the "Source: trust me, bro" meme in real, living colour.

ScreamingMeMe · 28/02/2022 16:23

Oh, yes, I forgot we were waiting for page 2 - the chart with the UK feminist organisations. Found it yet, DoM? You've had a few hours now...

Even a link to the first info graphic would be a start - I note that the name of whoever posted it has been cut off...

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/02/2022 16:19

It's a cliche Domesticated but I just spat my tea out at that!

DomesticatedZombie · 28/02/2022 16:18

His aim was to create division so that he could walk into Ukraine without a coordinated response

You mean, flat shoes and culottes?

FunnyTalks · 28/02/2022 16:09

@DialSquare

So DoM are you saying that you actually don't agree with invaders and that you don't blame the people being invaded for defending their space?

NecessaryScene · 28/02/2022 16:06

Again - where is your source for this Russian money trail? Where is the data? You haven't proven anything.

Oh, yes, I forgot we were waiting for page 2 - the chart with the UK feminist organisations. Found it yet, DoM? You've had a few hours now...

Anyway, what point do we think DoM is trying to make? Is it "we should put men in women's prisons because it would annoy Putin, who smells"?

"If Lia Thomas doesn't win, then Putin wins"?

Not a very convincing anti-feminist argument is it?

Does he think that if Fair Play for Women surrenders, then Putin will withdraw? Hmm

It's sweet that he thinks we're so powerful Grin Putin's just marching through Ukraine to get to WPUK, right?

Fluffymule · 28/02/2022 15:59

If you are really into how this started then you will see it goes back to 2014 …

Says someone so obsessed with making everything about their own agenda and opinion they make ridiculous statements that show a complete ignorance, wilful or otherwise, of the history of Ukraine and its relationship with it’s neighbours that goes back to the 13th century.

This is not about you. It’s not about your ideology or your take on culture wars.

You appear to have no respect for women voices here; at least show some respect for those people dying in a war overseas that has nothing to do with pronouns, and stop using it as a vehicle for your self obsession.

ScreamingMeMe · 28/02/2022 15:58

More comedy gold from DoM Grin

We have been talking about the threat to women's rights from self ID longer than any newspaper. How misogynistic and patronising to suggest we let the media lead us by the nose. I give not a shit about the so-called 'culture wars' and have never used that phrase. I care about feminism. Real, tangible feminism.

Are you calling the TRAs I mentioned above "chattering socially conservative right wing chattering classes" too? If not why not? Are TRAs not constantly banging on about how important using the corrrect pronouns are, even going so far as to say using the 'wrong' ones is "literal violence"?

Do you not think Ukraine is "socially conservative"?

And you can fro with that 'faux outrage' comment - I see your deflection attempt for what it is.

No idea where you're going with that bit about the butter. Perhaps you can elaborate

Again - where is your source for this Russian money trail? Where is the data? You haven't proven anything.

DialSquare · 28/02/2022 15:53

If you are really into how this started then you will see it goes back to 2014 when Putin started seeding social media and the press with culture war money. His aim was to create division so that he could walk into Ukraine without a coordinated response.

So your hypothesis is that women wouldn't have objected to men running their rape crisis centres, in their prisons and in their sports, without Putin funding them?

Or is it that Putin is funding Stonewall?

Or is Putin stopping Grace Lavery from showing up to debate?

I'm struggling to see how Putin is necessary for the division to arise...

You seem to be deciding to counter right-wing "Putin wouldn't have invaded Ukraine if we hadn't been arguing about pronouns" argument (ie the TRAs shouldn't have been pushing it) with "Putin wouldn't have invaded Ukraine if we hadn't been arguing about pronouns" (ie women should have just accepted it). Doesn't make any more sense.

Maybe, just maybe, the two things have nothing to do with each other....?

AweSoupSome · 28/02/2022 15:48

@ScreamingMeMe

"Me, me, me, it's all about meeeeeeee."
I 100% stand with the Ukrainian woman who posted that.

IW's post is a shameful disgrace, attention seeking narc using innocent Ukrainian children for her agenda Envy.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/02/2022 15:45

Fortunately the Ukranians are made of better stuff than the chattering socially conservative right wing chattering classes

So much chattering!

Yeah mate but no. Views all my own.
Fimofriend · 28/02/2022 15:33

Well, we are mumsnetters, so we are part of the hive mind and all think alike according to some of the TRAs so I guess from there to "someone else is doing the thinking for us"....

It is funny that they don't realize that their misogyny is showing.

DisgustedofManchester · 28/02/2022 15:31

I love when peopl say they are not answering this but...

As for the standard faux outrage "people are dying", perhaps you've missed the whole UK newspapers blaming pronouns on Putin startiung his invasion

'if only we weren't arguing about pronouns we would have seen his troops massing earlier.... and still done nothing'

If you are really into how this started then you will see it goes back to 2014 when Putin started seeding social media and the press with culture war money. His aim was to create division so that he could walk into Ukraine without a coordinated response. He was right as well, see the Daily Mail blaming the 'woke' for that. Fortunately the Ukranians are made of better stuff than the chattering socially conservative right wing chattering classes who online will 'boycott' a butter brand but in reality....

@ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings

Are you seriously not ashamed to try and weaponised the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine for your own antifeminist goals? Every time I think "no, surely they won't make that about themselves, surely they won't try and appropriate this, that's too low even for the TRAs" you somehow manage to do it. I can't even begin to imagine what the people who know you must think of you.
Oh, TRAscan always get worse. Look how many of them are calling the law in Texas against transistioning children a "trans genocide", and saying it is on a par with, or worse than, the situation in Ukraine and people who talk about Ukraine should be talking about it too.

OP's post could easily limbo dance under a very low bar with room to spare.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/02/2022 14:59

@DomesticatedZombie

What happens when Putin fuelled bots hit Xtian RightWing funding - is this a fundamental paradox? Will the world explode?

Confused

Putin seems to be an old fashioned patriarchal religious type - against the rights of women, homosexuals etc - who afaik gets a lot of support from the Russian Orthodox Church. I'm not sure he's very distinguishable on these matters from the 'Christian right wing', other than being a statist authoritarian rather than more individualistic.

He, and they, are pretty much antithetical to all feminists, liberal, radical or any other label.

SorryAuntLydia · 28/02/2022 14:59

Oh you again Disgustedof? Hmm
Sorry can’t stop to chat; I’ve got roubles to launder - or possibly I mean the kids’ clothes- Silly Mummy gets so confused

TinselAngel · 28/02/2022 14:56

Don't worry, I'm hoarding the filthy Russian cash in the strongroom at Dinosaur HQ, alongside our enviable supply of rights.
I will sleep easier knowing my roubles are being guarded by dinosaurs.

EsmaCannonball · 28/02/2022 14:55

On a more serious note, all the above shows that even dictators have learned the DARVO playbook.

EsmaCannonball · 28/02/2022 14:53

Given that Vlad's been calling everyone Nazis, claiming he is the ultimate antifa and also the victim of something called Russophobia, I had assumed his next move would be to shove on a shift dress and say, 'Call me Wendy.'
