Non binary camp councelor shares cabin with fifth grade girls (Calefornia)

Girls sent to a science camp were housed insleeping quarters with non binary male councelors, the camp says that they house residents by gender identity.
Parents were only informed when they returned from the trip.

So how does being non-binary get this teacher housed with the girls?

As an offside, I hate the term 'enby' - such a cutsie name. Can’t totally put my finger on other reasons why I hate it, but it just seems … eurgh… I don’t know…

looks cute and non threatening...

while a lot of them are cute and non threatening, there will be those wishing to exploit the "safe" persons, just as vicars and priests and schout leaders were seen as safe.

Whatwouldscullydo · 20/02/2022 22:13

One wonders when all the girls being used to validate this shit stay at home, will any of it even exist any more

Gumbomambo · 20/02/2022 22:00

I just think it will go down that route now where girls will just be kept home, no science camps, no school trips no opportunities to enrich their lives and give them a leg up. It’s shit.

@Gumbomambo

I’ve just seen a comment that really made me stop and take a breath. It was a comment from a mother who said that If she found out this was happening she wouldn’t let her daughter attend. It’s a science camp! Another young woman held back from another opportunity so a fucking bloke can be validated. Just another one of the countless nameless girls that will miss out on swimming teams, girl guiding, science clubs and god knows what else because of rampant male entitlement.
That got me too, we want more girls to study science. How many Transwomen or Non-Binarys will now be taking an interest in this...
ISpyCobraKai · 20/02/2022 21:54

Non binary my arse, its a man.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 20/02/2022 21:51

And you wouldn't find out in advance so you'd need to pull them when they're there or just not let them go at all.

It's a creeping secular version of all the regimes that are so abhorred for the restrictions they impose on the lives of girls and women.

I agree.

DysonSphere · 20/02/2022 20:53

Sorry I'm not very well and confused. Are they saying non-binary can be anything so it doesn't matter if a 'male bodied' but gender disassociated/non-conforming person gets assigned to the girls? Despicable but it makes a logical triangle in my mind. Be whatever. Go wherever.

Whitefire · 20/02/2022 20:50

It is absolutely terrifying. This is just throwing the stable doors wide open.

@Redshoeblueshoe

The school saying it's against the law to tell the parents Shock Does anyone know if that is true ?(telling the parents I mean)
I believe it's the same excuse the Girl Guides in the UK use to justify allowing boys who identify as girls sharing bedrooms and showers etc with girls or adult males identifying as women to deal with care for girls on trips??
2Rebecca · 20/02/2022 20:42

In the post above I'm using their definition of nonbinary not mine.

2Rebecca · 20/02/2022 20:41

That's awful. It's also stupid. A nonbinary person is just as much one sex as the other so why not put them with children of the same sex for safeguarding reasons. Nonbinary females should be with the girls.

SoItWas · 20/02/2022 20:39

"I have to assume because there's a bizarre conflation with eunuchs."

Is this why many transwomen don't like the lady dick phenemon, being pointed out? They prefer the harmless eunuch treatment?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 20/02/2022 20:37

Why do they want to share with young girls?

Under California state law I believe this is right. As stated by PP, they've changed the laws to make safeguarding or infact any protection of women and girls absolutely impossible.
TooTiredForAdventure · 20/02/2022 20:34

@TravellingFrom

Err…. I thought non binary people felt neither male or female?

In that case, why is a non binary person automatically sharing with the girls???

Exactly.

WouldIwasShookspeared · 20/02/2022 20:32

I am so sick of this bollocks.

I would argue that if someone is 'non binary' then they should use facilities that match their genitals since their 'identity' doesn't match with either male or female gender stereotypes.

TravellingFrom · 20/02/2022 20:32

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

Why does non-binary in practice always translate as opposite sex?
It doesn’t. You won’t see a non binary woman staying with the men. It’s only the other way around. Wonder why….

When I was a teen, and went on summer camps, we didn't have the young adult helpers (this is my understanding of what a counsellor is) sleeping in our tents anyway. This was for safeguarding reasons. Each tent did have a nominated pair of young adults who were particularly responsible for them. They slept in a tent next door and were the same sex as us. (Obviously more appropriate as we'd have gone to them if we'd been ill in the night etc.)

When I was a Young Leader with Brownies (would have been about 15) I had my own room on Pack Holiday as it wasn't seen to be appropriate for me to share with either the Brownies or the other (adult) leaders.

So why would you be so stupid as to put a biologically male adult in with girls, when every organisation I've been involved with wouldn't even put a female adult in with girls?

Clymene · 20/02/2022 20:26

The non binary people I know are all women.

Whatever their sex though, adult NBs (I'm not talking about teenagers) are all heterosexual

334bu · 20/02/2022 20:23

Fifth graders are 10 - 11 years old, so at this time of year most will be 11, with a good few already menstruating. Any male , no matter their gender identity, wishing to share sleeping and showering facilities with girls this age, should be treated with suspicion.

Whatwouldscullydo · 20/02/2022 20:18

None of this is even about sexual attraction though.

It wouldn't be appropriate if the male was gay either.

Its all about power.
