@Brefugee

as someone on the twitter thread said, it is funny that the NYT doesn'T imagine certain films without Roman Polanski / Woody Allen /Harvey Weinstein. Funny indeed
Just thinking about how many careers Harvey Weinstein destroyed and how many people enabled him because he's a nasty grubby predator. How much creativity has been lost, but no JKR is the bad guy because she believes what we all believed until a few years ago that biological sex is real.

This one?

*Jove...

ManonCrochan · 21/02/2022 18:31

What did JKR actually do. What was the tweet the set this all of? I know she was telling the truth but does anyone have a screen shot of the actual tweets?

CanIPleaseHaveOne · 21/02/2022 18:31

@Viviennemary

There is a big world outside the little coterie of MN Rowling worshippers.
500 million book sold world wide is now a little coterie?

Is the another new definition?

CanIPleaseHaveOne · 21/02/2022 18:28

@Porcupineintherough

Tbh I've always managed to enjoy various art forms without thinking of their creators at all - never know the director's name, rarely the author's, or anything about the artist beyond theirs. What I want to know is why Lianna's opinion on any if this is worth reporting any more than mine would be. Why is Lianna news?
By Giove I thinks she's got it.

YOU should be Editor of the New York TImes.

It's not about worshipping her, it's about critical thinking and understanding that a small group of people are very wrong in their opinions. She has done nothing to deserve the awful treatment from the haters.

@ABitBesotted

A shockingly shit paper anyway.
Why though?

They have some great writters and some excellent journalism.

I am conflicted!

CanIPleaseHaveOne · 21/02/2022 17:56

I stand with JKR too.

We have Covid here - 4 of us. We are having a Harry Potter marathon. It soothes us!

Thank you JKR. I have daughters and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

TrashyPanda · 21/02/2022 17:54

Lianna is also “Imagining Harry Potter without its Creator.”

Lianna is many things:

sadly lacking in critical thinking
Puffed up by her self-importance
Not very bright.

Why would she want to advertise these things?

The NYT can fuck off.
I stand with JKR.

CanIPleaseHaveOne · 21/02/2022 17:46

@Porcupineintherough

Ah crap, I started reading the NYT over lockdown and found a lot of good articles in it. Another one to ditch.
Me too.

I am so pissed off with them/this. I was enjoying their recipe section!

Should have known though as their lack of diligence on Donald Trump (he was their beat in NY), their latest response to BLM movement along with many other things have been ringing alarms for a while.

I think I am going to swing to The Times, and go for good magazing reads.

Indeed. When I think of all the Polanski apologism we’ve had to witness for decades, on behalf of someone who anally raped a child - BUT a woman who expresses an opinion - just an opinion - that biological sex exists, is subject to these neurotic toddler tantrums of anger - I actually despair.
Rosiesmydog · 20/02/2022 16:11

Just a thought…isn’t Wordle a NYT thing now? Perhaps we should stop playing that!

The literal existence of JKR really fucks with their little heads, doesn't it?

Wow... that's a bit like imagining a newspaper with no news, or no editorials isn't it? An empty void.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 20/02/2022 07:44

Risible. Utterly risible.

MangyInseam · 19/02/2022 23:30

Is this surprising? I thought they have been all signed up to identity politics for some time?

GrumpyPanda · 19/02/2022 18:17

Lots of things to imagine. Including the NYT without paywall. Just install the NoScript extension in your browser and you're all set Grin
