Don’t have time to listen, but a heads up for anyone who can.

I just don't post there, largely because several posters told me I wasn't welcome to do so, being the wrong sort of feminist... For me, all feminism is 'sex and gender'.

Well that last bit might explain the first part.

I am not happy if threads are being moved purely to make the other board look busy. Nobody here will argue with your being unhappy that threads are moved. But FWR and the awfully renamed Sex and Gender board are quite busy without any additional threads being moved in. It's FWR Chat that is quiet!

DomesticatedZombie · 07/02/2022 11:46

What I'm slightly baffled by is that threads seem to be being moved from this board onto the other one. I started a thread about Met police using derogatory language. It is possible that I absent mindedly started it in 'feminist chat' by mistake. But unlikely. I just don't post there, largely because several posters told me I wasn't welcome to do so, being the wrong sort of feminist.

Today the 'playing with dolls' thread has moved.

Maybe I should ask, actually. For me, all feminism is 'sex and gender'. So I deliberately choose to post here. I am not happy if threads are being moved purely to make the other board look busy.

LilithOfEden · 07/02/2022 11:43

The problem was never that this board was too visible, it's that too many people flocked to it.

Totally this. Whenever I've been to the other board, it's been more or less tumbleweed central. All the topics we supposedly stopped them talking about? Nada. They didn't want to talk about other things pertaining to women's rights. They just wanted to stop us talking about trans rights activism. But yes, as Purgatory points out, they still can't help themselves, and come here to scold and try to shut down discussion.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 07/02/2022 11:38

Indeed. There were quite a few people, or one person with quite a few accounts, complaining because they wanted us to be shunted down into the basement. But it actually worked out brilliantly, because now they can't come on here and complain.

Well, you might think they wouldn't, but they still do. Seven had made zero posts on the other board under that name when I checked last night.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/02/2022 11:34

Very happy to reside on Reality and Scepticism Island.

Datun · 07/02/2022 11:33

@donquixotedelamancha

These very forums had to be split because GC "feminists" were overwhelming the board with trans talk to the virtual exclusion of any other topic.

There is far more discussion of every feminist topic on this board than the general one.

The boards were split because of a high number of complaints from people claiming to be drowned out; but for some reason all the hundreds of other threads there wasn't room for don't seem to have materialised.

I was sleepless and reading Twitter in the middle of the night once and women in Canada were talking about some horror that had just been reported and how upset they were. And one of them wrote, 'We need Terf Island to wake up and tackle this.' Total GLOW of pride.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/02/2022 10:39

Thanks Gosports Smile

Yes, I'm wondering how many people are benefiting from the split. There were a few very vocal posters delighted to have achieved the split at the time. Yet I don't see them on the other board now. Odd.

Isn’t it?

I do remember at the time ppl suggested to MNHQ that that would be the case and it was just a tactic to try & weaken FWR

A Tactic that has failed abysmally I’m pleased to say

Gosports · 07/02/2022 10:37

I’ve asked for the title to be changed to say Natasha Devon not Rachel Johnson. Sorry Rachel!

@Thewindwhispers

Oh good, another of the Johnson family along to improve Britain. Epic.
Rachel Johnson appears to be a card carrying gender critic. She's also had a go at her brother on more than one occasion (she was anti Brexit/pro Remain and is anti the civil liberty restrictions her brother's government has imposed in the name of covid). I hate it when people are held responsible for the actions of their family members over whom they have no control - more often than not, women held responsible for actions of the men in their lives.

Just to clarify- it isn’t Rachel saying this. It’s someone else on her show. Rachel is GC so far as I know.

Is she wrong? These very forums had to be split because GC "feminists" were overwhelming the board with trans talk to the virtual exclusion of any other topic

Yeah! Cos Monitors, women who don't think sex is an important concept and people who aren't women complained that they couldn't just scroll past!

What the hell else would you expect to be discussed on a forum that is excliusively about women's rights? Look up, look at the breadcrumb trail... Talk : Womens Rights

Where you say trans talk we say women's rights. And nobody here will apologise for discusing women's rights. So as TRAs are currently the greatest threat t women's rights then that is the main topic of conversation.

I am one of those who works for an anto DV charity. I have putlined just how much the relentless change in language, targetting of major fudning streams etc has affected the running of our service.

I will be hung for an actual fucking witch before I make any concessions to any men who want to use our single sex services.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/02/2022 10:15

I feel this title is a bit unfair to Rachel, whether it's her spot on not.

TheGreatATuin · 07/02/2022 09:56

If you look at who the women are who are actually calling out this nonsense, you'll see the strongest voices are those who have dedicated their lives and careers to feminism and helping women. We've got the heads of anti-DV charities and shelters, those supporting women in prison, the women who marched against s28 and were there at the founding of pride and stonewall.
Despite all the smears, anyone looking at the women who are actually speaking up will see they are predominately left wing, many are lesbian and most have dedicated their lived to helping women.
When those women are all raising their voices and sounding the alarm, it means we have a serious, serious problem.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 07/02/2022 09:54

I've always found the TERF island insult interesting. The country were no Trans people have been murdered in several years, where refugees are dying to reach, where Trans people have employment rights, protection against discrimination etc...

Compared to countries where actual violence is happening, actual lack of rights, or where people are denied education based on their sex?

OvaHere · 07/02/2022 09:41

@WheresTheJustice2

She's saying that the feminists who are critical of genderism aren't interested in any other side of women's rights.

Think about it. That doesn’t even make sense

Let's pick a couple of well known feminists who are known to be critical of genderism - Julie Bindel and Germaine Greer. Is she really suggesting that they are not interested in anything else?

I do understand sometimes how people can take a vague glance in this direction and think it's all we care about but I also think they are deeply misinformed and are missing the bigger picture.

If women as a distinct sex class are erased in law and in life and we no longer have the words or the ability to describe or tackle oppression then everything else is lost.

We lose this and we lose everything.

DomesticatedZombie · 07/02/2022 09:03

Celebrity Terf Island sounds like a series I'd watch.

DomesticatedZombie · 07/02/2022 09:02

Yes, odd that you're here to complain about the purpose of the board, Seven, when as you say, there is another board for those who'd rather talk about other issues pertaining to Feminism. Why is that?

LilithOfEden · 07/02/2022 08:46

I've now listened to Rachel Johnson's podcast episodes of Difficult Women with Julie Burchill and Lionel Shriver. By the standards of hyperbolic numpties, who think women having a discussion about settled scientific concepts and sharing their own expertise and experience amounts to "radicalisation", Rachel Johnson is a gender critical militant preacher.

Gumbomambo · 07/02/2022 07:53

I read the replies on the Twitter post. Young people that look exactly like the sex they were born but with pronouns in their names, saying in all seriousness, they want to move because they are too afraid to walk down the street in case they are murdered. Murdered by GC feminists no less. I can’t even be bothered to point out the absolute nonsense of this. I can’t be bothered to point out the core beliefs of any feminist. if you are so stupid you believe you are more likely to be murdered (for being a bloke dressed as a bloke) on the streets of Loughborough than you are in the Sudan then I can’t help you.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 07/02/2022 07:51

Terf Island. The new reality show.

I’m game.
