I couldn't see another thread...

I loved this article. It brought tears to my eyes - angry and sad. The bit about ladettes in the 90s. I was 90% there.

I have sent it to all my younger female friends admitting that I was one of those ladette lovers in the 90s expecting my shirts to have been washed and ironed by the matriarchy. And here we are.

@samsalmon

Am I brave enough to link it to my Facebook?
You are!
Blessex · 07/02/2022 06:18

Uffff read it again and again. How to hit a nail on the head.

Discofish · 07/02/2022 00:09

Have just read this article and came on here to see if anyone had shared. Such a good article! I've read loads of good articles in The Critic- they're not afraid to publish gender critical articles

CrumpetShaw · 06/02/2022 20:26

Brilliant. Shame there aren't more articles like this in the left/centre left media
That's the people who are holding all of this up.

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 06/02/2022 20:10

This was great.
I'm going to subscribe.

"For all the name-calling, for all the accusations of “fear-mongering” thrown at women who dig their heels in about sex-based rights, there is a reliance on these women to hold the line. It’s like taking the piss out of Mummy for not being able to see beyond the washing machine while still expecting a drawer full of clean clothes to magically appear."

Great article and have enjoyed a couple of others too.

crazyjinglist · 06/02/2022 12:29

Thank you. Absolutely excellent article!

beastlyslumber · 06/02/2022 12:21

Brilliant. Really like the critic mag. It's always well hidden behind the other mags in waitrose and I always put a few copies where they're visible Grin

ScrollingLeaves · 06/02/2022 12:04

@334bu
Thank you for linking that. That is an interesting, well written article too.

334bu · 06/02/2022 10:54

Thanks for the link. There is also another article I!n that issue which people might find interesting, about the Left's misogynistic attitude to prostitution

RelentlessForwardProgress · 06/02/2022 10:44

Thanks for this, great article.

“I don’t notice a person’s sex” is the political equivalent of “not noticing” the washing up (while still knowing it exists and relying on someone, somewhere, to do something about it).

I'd never heard of the Critic and after this read a couple of the political sketches which were also excellent, so I have just subscribed Smile

EdithStourton · 05/02/2022 18:48

Utterly brilliant article.

It’s like taking the piss out of Mummy for not being able to see beyond the washing machine while still expecting a drawer full of clean clothes to magically appear
Absolute genius. True AND funny.

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 05/02/2022 18:37

Love the bit about being radicalised into still thinking what I thought 5 minutes ago.
Vipers really got me brainwashed Grin

Scraggythang · 05/02/2022 15:51

Beautiful piece. And every word absolutely bloody true.

PonyPatter44 · 04/02/2022 19:33

This is a superb bit of writing. Thank you for posting it!

GibbonsGoatsGibbons · 04/02/2022 19:26

I just came to check this had been posted here - fabulous isn't it!

Musomama1 · 04/02/2022 18:22

Fantastic article, answers a few of my questions as to what is happening with young feminists and how they are supported by 'professional' feminists who both look at us with contempt and don't want to get their own hands dirty - brilliant.

I'm still getting my head around how this forum is pointing out the bleeding obvious above all the fucking professional feminists? And this helps.

RoyKentsChestHair · 04/02/2022 16:04

Fantastic article. Think lll send it to DS as he seems a bit confused about what feminism really is, having been exposed to the new kind online, which doesn’t seem to tally with my particularly MNetty brand of feminism at home!

Igmum · 04/02/2022 16:04

Excellent excellent excellent

Noisyprat · 04/02/2022 15:57

Thank you, great article. Looks a good magazine actually, I might try it for a bit.

DisappearingGirl · 04/02/2022 15:56

You’re mocked for being obsessed with things that will never happen — no one has clean socks, there’s no food in the house, women have lost all sex-based rights and feminism has become practically meaningless — but the only reason they won’t happen is because of your eminently mockable obsessions

Great stuff

She's my absolute favourite feminist writer.

So deeply perceptive and really lays out exactly what is happening.
