Great article in Spiked Online about Mridul Wadwha's latest shenanigans:

www.spiked-online.com/2022/02/01/the-thought-police-are-here/

To briefly summarise:

  • Mridul was born male
  • Mridul is legally male with no GRC
  • Mridul is the CEO of Edinburgh Rape crisis
  • Mridul claims women who want female only rape crisis services are bigoted and should 'reframe their trauma'
  • The CEO of a domestic violence charity Nicola Murray stopped referring women to Mridul's rape crisis service due to Mridul's misogyny
  • Mridul reported Nicola Murray to the police for committing a hate crime
  • The police actually visited Nicola Murray to question her thinking

More about Jones: https://4w.pub/male-sex-offender-murderer-paved-way-for/

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5440153/Trans-convict-invited-speak-House-Lords.html

Jones murdered their partner and lived with their decomposing body for so long it was impossible to determine cause of death so could not be tried for murder. Five days after their release from prison Jones tried to rape a shop assistant and gagged her by putting a lemon in her mouth. The woman worked in a shop which sold clothes and accessories for transsexual men.

How many other murderers and rapists are given the floor at the HoL?

I didn't say it was banter. It's unacceptable, misogynist and I condemned it. But it is used by women, especially in the US, where it is a very common term and it is not a rape threat. And that is relevant because I constantly see people claiming on here that feminists are bombarded with death and rape threats by 'TRAs' but when asked to find specific examples of that from a prominent and named trans activist no-one seems to be able to.

Could you kindly stop rooting all your points with some variant of "it happens in America?"

I have never travelled to America and am unlikely to ever be able to afford to do so, even if you spend half your life there. I do not care what you say is acceptable in America, you do not have the right to dictate my boundaries or perceptions.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 06/02/2022 19:12

Please point out one prominent trans activist in the UK who has issued a credible rape or death threat (as opposed to anonymous twitter trolls)

I rather doubt that violence, sexual violence and murder diminish in severity because the perpetrator isn't "prominent".

Do you think that if someone with less than 10,000 followers murders a feminist, she'll be 15% less dead?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 06/02/2022 19:12

You really don’t masdintle 😁

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 06/02/2022 19:07

@barleybadminton

They are only important to you barely.

I think you'll find Angela Davies, Catherine Mckinnon and Gloria Steinman are important to more people than just me lol.

Not important enough to you to spell her name right. That's twice now. I wasn't petty enough to mention it as a one-off, but twice tries my forbearance.

What's really interesting here is that you are going all in on treating feminism and feminist philosophy as a matter of hierarchy, where who writes it is more important than how convincingly they write it.

Masdintle · 06/02/2022 19:07

Blimey Sheldon I now want to read your right threadGrin

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 06/02/2022 19:05

Sorry.

Wrong thread and I’ve reported.

What about the person formerly known as Joe Brennan aka @towntattle, who transitioned and took the name Cathy, in order to harass the well known feminist of that name. I refuse to identify the transactivist by the feminists name, so I have elected to use the former name for clarity.

Brennan is enough of a transactivist to show up at an event that Julie Bindel was speaking at, violently threaten and lunge at her, threatening to punch her. The event had nothing to do with trans issues, IIRC. Brennan was convicted of doing this.

Violent, threatening transactivist. Not a death threat, sure, but when this person lunged towards Julie with fists raised, she could not have known how much harm Brennan meant to cause her.

I expect you’ll think Brennan was flirting with Julie or something, barley.

@Doubletoilandtrouble

“Suck my dick” is nothing biological women say to each other in my experience. Especially since biological women dont have dicks. I don’t know any girl or woman who wouldn’t feel threatened or at least extremely uncomfortable with being told this.

If transwomen think this only is “misogynistic banter” then that just shows the massive cognitive difference between biological women and transwomen. And how biological women have their boundaries violated.

That man's comments were awful but he is not a prominent trans activist. In fact he is not a trans activist at all as far as I can tell and it's quite probable this had nothing to do with trans people and he made the comments for other reasons.

More from Joanna below

Cherry said the febrile debate within the party over changes to the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) and allegations of transphobia directed at her had put her at risk.

She said: “I have a friendship with a trans woman dating back to the days when I first came out as a lesbian on the scene in Edinburgh in the 1980s. One of my most loyal and hard-working activists is a trans woman. I am not transphobic.

“The people who are propagating the idea that I’m transphobic are not only being unfair to me, they’re actually putting me in danger because of the level of abuse I’ve received, which included a death threat in 2019 and in the last week has included a series of very scary and frightening messages which have led to a man being arrested and charged with a serious offence. I can’t comment on that too much at the moment. I can’t tell you who the man was, but I can tell you he was a party member.”

Sophoclesthefox · 06/02/2022 18:34

No of course it's not. It's misogynist, it's a sexual comment, I condemn it, but it is not a credible rape threat. It's something young people say to each other all the time and which seems to have come from the US. There's even a well known song called Suck My Dick by female rapper Lil' Kim

The phrase “suck my dick, you transphobic cunts” aimed at women attending a feminist conference doesn’t seem like a credible rape threat to you because it’s just bantz?!

Wow. You really do have quite an…original…take there.

Goatsaregreat · 06/02/2022 18:32

No of course it's not. It's misogynist, it's a sexual comment, I condemn it, but it is not a credible rape threat
This is why this conversation has become toxic - when an anti women poster ignores context and feels empowered to argue with women what threats to us are credible. Vile.

scalliondays · 06/02/2022 18:31

Interestingly, Edinburgh Rape crisis seem to be advertising for several new volunteer counsellors but add that ''only women need apply for the above volunteer roles under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010''
Shouldn't that have applied to Mridul Whadwa? Wouldn't the centre then have avoided the disgraceful remarks about challenging bigoted views and just efficiently got on with the essential job of helping rape and sexual abuse survivors?

barleybadminton · 06/02/2022 18:26

@Helleofabore

Oh... and suck my dick is not a rape threat?

Not sure how you can minimise that one.

There’s Karen Jones, also known as Karen Lawson, who doesn’t go much for death threats, to be fair, but has convictions for manslaughter and attempted rape. Jones/Lawson was invited by Lord Patel of Bradford to address the House of Lords on the topic of the needs of trans prisoners.

Jones/Lawson is very involved in transactivism, and was instrumental in the decision that MTF transgender prisoners should be accommodated in the prison estate. Pink News certainly finds them a credible source.

www.pinknews.co.uk/2018/01/24/these-powerful-stories-from-two-trans-ex-offenders-remind-us-why-we-need-to-support-trans-rights-today/

I am guessing this won’t count as someone who had issued rape or death threats, though, as Jones/Lawson just went right ahead and committed them.

Helleofabore · 06/02/2022 18:22

Because there is a difference between a prominent trans campaigner and an anonymous troll that could be literally anyone including far right agitators seeking to pour petrol on this debate.

oh I see.... someone else did it. It wasn't us.

Someone who'd been posting Posie Parker's stuff was convicted not that long ago for trying to burn down their neighbours house because they were a trans women but I'm not laying that at the gender critical door.

And I would certainly condemn this person. Are they a feminist, fighting for women's rights?

Goatsaregreat · 06/02/2022 18:21

Actually - at this stage I'm going to invoke Madame Bunbury (or playing chess with pigeons) and stop.

barleybadminton · 06/02/2022 18:21

@scalliondays

Regarding Edinburgh Rape Crisis, they could easily have sessions when it was women only and reserve occasional sessions for men and sessions for trans identifying people. It's hardly rocket science. The very fact that they are not doing this is proof that it's all political point scoring and the actual abused and raped women can just sod off if they don't like it. It's an absolute disgrace.
Most of their work seems to be one on one according to their website so they are offering a service for people who wouldn't want to be in a group with a trans woman.

Absolutely. And there are dubious & murky connections between MW & women only shelters elsewhere having their funding removed which I think is mentioned on this thread or one of the other threads. I hold the SNP / Greens responsible for this shit show, Labour, Lib Dems & Cons are spineless. As Burns wrote “ Sic a parcel o’ rogues in the nation” Scotland & it’s women and children better.
