Great article in Spiked Online about Mridul Wadwha's latest shenanigans:

www.spiked-online.com/2022/02/01/the-thought-police-are-here/

To briefly summarise:

 • Mridul was born male
 • Mridul is legally male with no GRC
 • Mridul is the CEO of Edinburgh Rape crisis
 • Mridul claims women who want female only rape crisis services are bigoted and should 'reframe their trauma'
 • The CEO of a domestic violence charity Nicola Murray stopped referring women to Mridul's rape crisis service due to Mridul's misogyny
 • Mridul reported Nicola Murray to the police for committing a hate crime
 • The police actually visited Nicola Murray to question her thinking

Then of course there was Andrea Cachia:

'omw to make a bitches pronouns was/were ' while posing with a gun

Another tweet, dated May 17, shows two images of guns, including a pink gun sporting a transgender symbol. “You’re going on a TERF hunt, what u takin,”

‘Making a nice list of terfs tweeting WomenWontWheesht because she needs target practice’.”

etc

@scalliondays

Interestingly, Edinburgh Rape crisis seem to be advertising for several new volunteer counsellors but add that ''only women need apply for the above volunteer roles under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010'' Shouldn't that have applied to Mridul Whadwa? Wouldn't the centre then have avoided the disgraceful remarks about challenging bigoted views and just efficiently got on with the essential job of helping rape and sexual abuse survivors?
Yes. Mridul Whadwa was not eligible to apply for the CEO role due to their sex. ERCC invoked the occupational exemption and then just disregarded it.

There's quite a few questions around - political influence (MW being pally with Nicola Sturgeon), whether ERCC had decided that MW was getting the job even before it was advertised and were reducing pool of applicants by not allowing males to advertise and of course the ERCC's funding from the Scottish Government being contingent on being 'inclusive'. The Scottish Government who are advised by and allow themselves to be heavily lobbied by Stonewall.

No, the reason I asked for someone who was not anonymous is because a lot of the time people are not who they say they are online.

Again.... no.... not us. We didn't do it.

Strange isn't it that the same phrase is used in real life interactions as well. Or... no. Those people yelling that same threat and writing threatening placards are also not us....

Helleofabore · 06/02/2022 20:04

@sausagebap

why do TRAs on these boards always use 'lol' to punctuate?
They are obviously down with the cool kids sausage.
Helleofabore · 06/02/2022 20:03

but anyone who thinks that TRAs saying 'suck my girldick' to women they dislike are using threatening language is totally wrong? Because some Americans apparently say 'suck my dick' to each other in a jokey way?

And we have been told from a poster, who from the very first post under the current name they use, has also shown they have a habit of denigrating, demonising, shaming and disparage and sneering at any woman who disagrees with their personal political agenda. In nearly every single post.

Who believes that they are righteous for whatever reason they have come up with.

It is quite remarkable to think about it. Someone so heavily invested in telling women to STFU in so many ways on so many posts, is now telling women what is and what is NOT a credible rape threat. Because 'they' judge that it is not.

Yep. Surprised I tell you.

At least they make it hard for readers to misunderstand the issues by showing a live demonstration.

barleybadminton · 06/02/2022 20:00

How many other murderers and rapists are given the floor at the HoL?

I don't know but I think it's important those responsible for prisons hear the views of long term prisoners and by it's nature that is going to mean listening to people who have done horrifying things.

sausagebap · 06/02/2022 20:00

@PurgatoryOfPotholes

Please point out one prominent trans activist in the UK who has issued a credible rape or death threat (as opposed to anonymous twitter trolls)

I rather doubt that violence, sexual violence and murder diminish in severity because the perpetrator isn't "prominent".

Do you think that if someone with less than 10,000 followers murders a feminist, she'll be 15% less dead?

No, the reason I asked for someone who was not anonymous is because a lot of the time people are not who they say they are online. Anyone can set up a twitter account and post vile shit and blame it on trans activists. And whilst I don't think GC feminists would do that, although I'm not so sure about some of the GC men, people from the far right would not think twice - in fact if you look on 4chan it's the kind of thing they actively plan and boast about doing it. And as reluctant as you might be to do anything about it you've got fascists on your side now.

I still don't think I've had an answer as to why Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre can offer groups for many different services users but not provide a single sex service for women who require it, using the single sex exemptions allowed to them in law.

Presumably because they don't want to and as an independent organisation they can do what they like.

Dead wrong @barleybadminton, the correct answer is of course 'because their primary funder, the Scottish Government, requires them to be trans inclusive in every aspect of their service.' No men in your group, no money for your group.

More from Joanna below

Cherry said the febrile debate within the party over changes to the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) and allegations of transphobia directed at her had put her at risk.

She said: “I have a friendship with a trans woman dating back to the days when I first came out as a lesbian on the scene in Edinburgh in the 1980s. One of my most loyal and hard-working activists is a trans woman. I am not transphobic.

“The people who are propagating the idea that I’m transphobic are not only being unfair to me, they’re actually putting me in danger because of the level of abuse I’ve received, which included a death threat in 2019 and in the last week has included a series of very scary and frightening messages which have led to a man being arrested and charged with a serious offence. I can’t comment on that too much at the moment. I can’t tell you who the man was, but I can tell you he was a party member.”

But Joanna wrote this barley. What do you think ?

She wrote she is being put in danger

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 06/02/2022 19:49

No-one who implies that I am just being uptight about descriptions of sexual violence and that the cool girls get that it's a joke has any business lecturing me about feminism

But it does offer an answer to what kind of mind can deny the right to request a female examiner to a shaking, traumatised woman on the worst day of her life when that person is also the CEO of a rape crisis centre?

The kind of mind that doesn't see why we have an issue with being instructed to perform fellatio, perhaps?

Get this, petal. I am offended, and I do not give a rusty piece of scrap what women you produce to tell me my boundaries are too high. And every time I see these imperatives to perform sexual acts issued, my resolution hardens, and I am reminded anew of the mindset that drives them. A mindset that sees men as the default human and women as the "sex class" made to service men. Holders of the mindset seek to humiliate women by reminding us that they think we're there to serve their sexual urges, every time we act as if we think we're people too.

I will never, ever consent to these males using female only spaces. Thanks for reminding me why today.

littlbrowndog · 06/02/2022 19:48

Scotland such a place isn’t it ?

For such a small country

DomesticatedZombie · 06/02/2022 19:47

Gregor Murray was suspended as a councillor for vile, abusive tweets to women.

www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/4244982/gregor-murray-snp-trans-councillor-quits-suspended/

GreenWhiteViolet · 06/02/2022 19:46

Wait, so JK Rowling's writing apparently is transphobic and makes people 'feel unsafe' not because of what's explicitly written but because of some kind of covert associational guilt, and the same has been said of a billboard stating 'woman: adult human female' - but anyone who thinks that TRAs saying 'suck my girldick' to women they dislike are using threatening language is totally wrong? Because some Americans apparently say 'suck my dick' to each other in a jokey way?

Doesn't make sense to me.

Datun · 06/02/2022 19:45

@Waitwhat23

I still don't think I've had an answer as to why Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre can offer groups for many different services users but not provide a single sex service for women who require it, using the single sex exemptions allowed to them in law.
This single, simple solution demolishes every single one of barleys arguments.

As evidenced by the response 'they don't want to'. Ner.

There is zero reason why men, however they identify, cannot be counselled by the same service as women, just not at the same time or in the same room. Neither does it require male therapists and counsellors to access women.

That means everyone gets what they need, but rape victims are not being used as validation for males. And other males who would use the service for nefarious means are thwarted.

DdraigGoch · 06/02/2022 19:43

It's something young people say to each other all the time

I've been a male on this planet for nearly thirty years and have never uttered those words, nor anything like them.

MaChienEstUnDick · 06/02/2022 19:41

SACRO is a charity, and in many ways it is an exceptionally good charity working at the sharp end of rehabilitation of offenders, programmes to stop offending and working with families of offenders.

I was incredibly shocked and disturbed by the Monklands decision. I thought and still do think that it was wrong. But even if MW's partner was still the director of SACRO, it is a charity and no-one is making money off the back of this decision, however bad it is for women.

DdraigGoch · 06/02/2022 19:38

And I realise that as an American, Decaudin doesn't qualify your criteria of being UK-based (though why you're suddenly so keen to keep to the UK when you weren't a page earlier) but there are plenty of similar threads in the UK. Even on placards at a feminist conference.

DdraigGoch · 06/02/2022 19:35
@Waitwhat23

That is an unpleasant and aggresive comment but it is not a death or rape threat.
How about Emilia Decaudin and the countless others who issue threats like "suck my girldick, TERFs"?

Following through with such a threat would definitely count as rape under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

Helleofabore · 06/02/2022 19:34

That just shows that you really need a dick to find the use of this in any way excusable on this side of the pond.

or had a dick.

Helleofabore · 06/02/2022 19:31

I wasn't referring to 'prominent' trans activists in any case. And frankly, anyone can easily find the examples for themselves, just start with threats made against Joanne Rowling. Many on the threads with children while she engaged with them about the Ickabog.

That a poster has declared that 'suck my dick you transphobic cunt' is not a threat to women, is just another example of where lived experience of being a female comes into play. I am pretty sure that a high proportion of females who have seen these threats would indeed find them credible threats.

But here we have a poster telling women what they should find threatening or not.

At the same time as downplaying many other aspects of the things said and done by Mridul Wadhwa.

Doubletoilandtrouble · 06/02/2022 19:28

So because some random person on the Internet tells me that some unknown people in the US are using “suck my dick” as banter, I am not allowed to feel violated if someone says this to me?

I am in the U.K. It must be lovely to be able to afford lots of foreign travel, but I have only been to the US once years ago. What they do or don’t do has no impact on me.

I do know lots of English women and I can reliably say that not a single biological woman I have come across has used this expression- or found it anything less than threatening, violating and distasteful.

I am willing to accept that English men and transwomen use this and normalise this expression. That just shows that you really need a dick to find the use of this in any way excusable on this side of the pond.

DomesticatedZombie · 06/02/2022 19:24

Most of their work seems to be one on one according to their website so they are offering a service for people who wouldn't want to be in a group with a trans woman.

Unless, of course, you notice that the counsellor is potentially a transwoman.

Sophoclesthefox · 06/02/2022 19:20

Or maybe there’s Peyton Rose Montreux, a trans singer songwriter who in 2019 was due to headline at a Trans Pride Scotland event for Trans day of visibility.

Monteux tweeted a picture that featured an image of a leaflet distributed by For Women Scotland with the text: “If you catch one of these assholes in the act, please undo their work or throat-punch them.”

Police investigated.

Interestingly, Monteux was also at the event I mentioned above where Brennan attempted to assault Julie Bindel.

Now, again, it’s not a death threat, but a throat punch can cause a serious injury, so the effort to frighten women by these threats is certainly effective enough, don’t you think?

Helleofabore · 06/02/2022 19:17

So, now we cannot frame what we find threatening. That is a new turn.

Please keep them coming barely because it really is enlightening to see this in action.

So... suck my dick, you transphobic cunt is NOT threatening wims... just a misogynistic turn of phrase, but these people don't really mean it. They really don't. It is just a thing to say.....

I am surprised I tell you. Just completely surprised.

Anyway, can we get back on track with this thread. About a transitioned male and their position as the CEO of the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre.

The squirrels have got out of hand here.

What kind of mind can deny that right to request a female examiner to a shaking, traumatised woman on the worst day of her life when that person is also the CEO of a rape crisis centre?
