Stumbled accross this on twitter. Matt Walsh, an American political commentator is on a chat show and confronts transactivist to define a woman and tells him that he is appropriating womanhood.

Then after being told that he has 'traumatised' the activists... He provides this response!!

Wow. He says sh*t straight.... Haha!

And yes I'd like to know what word we could use to describe..

Drs who run illegal gender clinics

Fire whistle blowers bring it to attention that concerns have been raised after a female child was left with the spine of an.80 yr old.

Who say that those qho are same sex attracted are sexual racists .

Who misrepresent suicide statistics to emotionally blackmail people into doing what they say.

Who things saying no to a male is worse than rapists being placed in womens prison.

What's the difference really, between being against sane sex attraction as right wing people sometimes are, and telling lesbians they are genital fetishets and they should get over their hang ups about penises and accept transwomen in their dating pool.

How's it difference?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/01/2022 08:27

I don’t care if I don’t agree with him on other stuff, he’s spot on with this, and unrepentant and effective.

I agree, I've followed him for a while on Twitter, I don't agree with most of his other stuff but he's influential.

Helleofabore · 21/01/2022 08:26

Meh! Another group of males discussing what the word woman means.

And in the context that one of them draws their livelihood from posing in a bikini, hips thrust to emulate a female model’s pose, the use of the word ‘costume’ may have some relevance. The bikini must be custom made to fit a penis and testicles as it is certain not to fit a woman.

So, yes. Good on that man straight talking. But it was still a male to male conversation discussing the meaning of the word woman.

ItsCoachBombay · 21/01/2022 08:25

I watched this clip and the man in question is a conservative political speaker.

I put my head in my hand when he explained rightly so what a "woman" is refering to anatomy and the other person came back with "but what if a woman is born without those organs" the words "well she'd be a infertile woman, but still a woman" slipped out 🤦🏻‍♀️

Infertile women are still women...does the other side not get this.

Whatwouldscullydo · 21/01/2022 08:16

I think any ideology that promotes destroying the endocrine systems and fertility of children is evil

We used to give some of these medications to sex offenders to prevent them from being able to re offend.

We no longer do this. Sex offenders get to.keep.their sexual function.

Children now receive " care" deemed too problematic even for sex offenders in prison.

How anyone would rather be on the side of that, because some of the people opposing it might hold views they don't like, I don't know.

NotBadConsidering · 21/01/2022 08:16

@AdamRyan

He doesn't present it as aimed at an ideology, he presents it as aimed at people. Repeatedly pointing and saying "you". "You are a bad person".

I agree the ideology is damaging to women and children and I'm vocally against it and have been for a long time.

But that doesn't mean I'm happy to applaud a right wing commentator using words like "evil" to describe a whole group of other humans.

He comes across to me as a bigot. Compare his response to the measured and non-directed approach of JKR. I totally agree with her. I can't support him.

But you’ve pointed out he is aiming it at people. The people he was on the show with. Those people he thinks are bad people. Not all trans people.

It wasn’t a group though, it was the trans activists who are promoting an evil trans ideology.

(I'm referring to his twitter reply, not the original video)

One of those wonderful examples of it being perfectly possible to agree with a person 10% of the time, whilst also disagreeing with their other beliefs or claims. Walsh was absolutely correct here. How he chooses to put his point across, perhaps in a children's book, (Johnny The Walrus) may not be to everyone's taste, but here he asked clear, direct questions and was not afforded clear, direct answers. It will be ammunition for the TRA's who'll claim that agreeing with Walsh here must mean you agree with his full gamut of politics, but most, I'm sure, will see that as the silly argument it is.

NotBadConsidering · 21/01/2022 08:05

Agreed.

And any ideology that puts rapists in prison with women is evil.

And any ideology that prevents parents from raising concerns at school meetings leading to another girl being raped is evil.

And any ideology that says “it will never happen!” and ignores all the examples of it happening is evil.

NotBadConsidering · 21/01/2022 08:02

Where does he tar all trans people with the same brush? He’s directly addressing his fellow guests.

nolongersurprised · 21/01/2022 07:59

and using words like "evil"

I think any ideology that promotes destroying the endocrine systems and fertility of children is evil.

What adjectives would you use?

AdamRyan · 21/01/2022 07:53

Yeah I agree with cheese
I think he's hostile and nasty, tarring all trans people with the same brush and using words like "evil".
I think he is transphobic and I don't want to come across as allied to someone like that, despite having very very strong concerns about self ID and "TWAW" myself.

Not impressed with that link at all.

nolongersurprised · 21/01/2022 07:40

It stops before any reference to safety etc

It’s on the second link

Datun · 21/01/2022 07:36

@HasaDigaEebowai

Looks like the video has been cut already. It stops before any reference to safety etc
And the censorship will now become part of the issue.

The immense power behind the ideology is revealed.

It's more sunlight, not less.

Whatwouldscullydo · 21/01/2022 07:33

cheese

Do we really want to fall into the trap like the tras of the " perfect source"

Even people we disagree with on some aspects , we will likely agree with on another. Because truth and reality aren't exclusive to being liked being pure etc

There are lots of people I dislike and disagree with much if what they say. But I'm.not going to make myself look like an idiot just so I don't accidentally agree with someone I dislike.

Thats how you end up like the tras on the clip. Backed into a corner, unable to answer a simple question.

Because it becomes about disagreement on purpose. If trump said water was wet I'm not going to say otherwise just to not agree with him.

NotBadConsidering · 21/01/2022 07:27

The professor says “I don’t know if it’s a safety issue at 1 min 10s.

NotBadConsidering · 21/01/2022 07:26

“What is a woman?”

“Sorry, before we proceed in analysing that question and the answer to it, we must first establish where you, the person asking, sit within our moral judgement. If you fit within our beliefs, we can continue. If you don’t, there’s the door.”

It’s such childish nonsense, about who’s on whose “side” 🙄. The answer was idiotic! The person giving the idiotic answer shouldn’t get overlooked because the person asking the question is guilty of wrongthink in other areas.

HasaDigaEebowai · 21/01/2022 07:21

NotBadConsidering · 21/01/2022 07:12

The whole “you’re trying to reduce the definition of ‘woman’ to genitals/biology/reproduction” is so bonkers. The word woman already has a definition based on those things! It’s not us trying to change it to something new! The definition exists! Everyone else knows what it is! It’s batshit crazy people trying to gaslight the rest of world by claiming the definition has never been based on biology and then claiming it has a different definition based on circular reasoning and nebulous feelings. Stop trying to pretend we are coming up with something extreme and “out there”.

That’s pretty much all that Walsh does on Dr Phil, ask these people to justify why the rest of the world needs to change their pre-existing millennia old definition of a word to their definition and lo and behold, they can’t, then claim to be traumatised by such a question.

Who cares what else Walsh thinks about other things? He basically encapsulated every MN FWR thread that asks the plopper TRAs these exact same questions that can never be answered, but on one of the most watched TV shows is the world.

rabbitwoman · 21/01/2022 06:50

He has written some books and has opinions that I would most certainly not agree with.

But if I were sat there on that show with that person trying to tell me that 'womanhood is woman is whoever says they are woman....' I would say exactly what he said. Or I would want to.

By the way, if someone asks me if I am trying to define who a woman is by their genitals, by their ability to have children, I say yes. Because that's what a woman is. And the consequences of that on women throughout the history of human kind have been so significant that it effects even those who have not had children (whether they chose that or not.)

If there is a whole movement of people trying to redefine the word woman as something that is not physically tangible, something that no one can actually quite put their finger on, who benefits? Not me. Not girls at skool who don't even know yet whether they can have children, whether they will want to have children, whether they will have the opportunity to have children but will certainly already be feeling the effects of mysogyny and sexism. Not the 12 year old girl being forced into a marriage she does not want before her fertility is clear. Not the child held down and mutilated by her trusted family members before she's ever even had sex.

Its such a weak, insulting argument and yet it seems to stop people in their tracks every time.... ' oh yes, TW ARE W because otherwise we are saying women who can't have children aren't real women....'

Here is a newsflash.... Lots of trans women have, and can still continue to have, children. By impregnating women with their penises.

NotBadConsidering · 21/01/2022 06:39

CheeseMmmm

You have fallen into the exact same trap that the education board at the Loudoun County school where a male raped two girls. You’ve looked at who is speaking, and focused on their background, rather than listening to what they are saying. The concerns of parents, include the father of one of the victims, were dismissed because of the perception of what they were motivated by. As a result, no one listened, concerns were ignored and another girl was a victim.

It doesn’t matter what Matt Walsh has said in the past, or where his thoughts on other matters lie, on this he is correct. He went in front of a massive audience, calmly asked basic questions like “what is a woman?”, showed up the ideology for all it is and even got a professor to say, just moments after talking about the rape of a girl, that “it’s not a safety issue”:

mobile.twitter.com/mattwalshblog/status/1483925582274564097?s=10

For what it’s worth I believe he cares about this issue, I don’t think being conservative on other issues means you can’t, and it’s ridiculous to suggest otherwise.

nolongersurprised · 21/01/2022 05:32

twitter.com/mattwalshblog/status/1483925582274564097?s=10

He called out the lack of concern for girls’ safety in gender-neutral bathrooms as well. He did it very well. Who knows if he “really cares” or not - he put what happened in Loudon (?sp) county out there, to a mainstream audience with a hostile studio audience. He is getting the expected abuse on Twitter- although no rape or death threats - and not backing down.

He pointed out that womanhood is not to be appropriated and worn and I applaud him for that.

I don’t care if I don’t agree with him on other stuff, he’s spot on with this, and unrepentant and effective.

CheeseMmmm · 21/01/2022 05:01

Bollocks is he worried about women. Except maybe in an ownership way.

Bollocks does he care about rape. Contradictory to what I am comfortable assuming his abortion views are.

He just hates anyone who is not. Women girls must be like this. Men boys must be like that. Anyone not like that is dangerous/ sinful etc. Must be treated as they deserve.

Yeah nope.

This guy beliefs disaster for .. loads of people. Definitely very much nightmare for women/girls.

Let him do his thing. He's zero to do with me and anything I think, believe, care about.
