Stumbled accross this on twitter. Matt Walsh, an American political commentator is on a chat show and confronts transactivist to define a woman and tells him that he is appropriating womanhood.

Then after being told that he has 'traumatised' the activists... He provides this response!!

Wow. He says sh*t straight.... Haha!

The transactivists on twitter are excited about this thread.

I can't even muster up enough interest to click on your link.

There are nine fucking characteristics in the Equality Act. It is not the Gender Identity Equality Act.

Quite.

MalagaNights · 21/01/2022 13:11

Wow. Good.
We need people to say this out loud.

We can argue about differing views on abortion with Matt once we've got the world to agree a man cannot be a women.

TurquoiseBaubles · 21/01/2022 13:08

That's not surprising really. I've yet to see a gender ideologist on twitter who seems capable of separating out the opinion from the opinion-giver. So, in their view, everyone is either good or bad, and the opinions good people believe in are good, and the opinions bad people believe in are bad.

It's why they have to convince everyone else (and themselves) that JKR is bad - she has to be bad, otherwise people might just listen to her.

This guy is bad (and, yes, lots of his opinions are pretty dodgy), so therefore we all have to agree that every opinion he has on everything is bad.

It has to be simple - the ideology just doesn't stand up to any sort of nuance.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 21/01/2022 13:07

Mmm! And we are NOT being monitored? Grin

If any of you Twitterites are still here: We know he also has some abhorrent ideas. But that doesn't stop him beng right on this one!

We are, after all, not BORG.

I am so bored of right wingers spouting 'left wing gender ideology'.

allmywhat · 21/01/2022 12:07

I saw a link to a parody article about M&Ms introducing a new character who identifies as a Skittle.

I didn't realise it was based on something real, and just as ridiculous. Grin

Xoxoxoxoxoxox · 21/01/2022 12:04

why is the battleground always what is a woman, why not what is a man?

Artichokeleaves · 21/01/2022 11:55

I mean, where's the disabled M&M?

Where's the one with beliefs/faith?

Where's the pregnant one?

There are nine fucking characteristics in the Equality Act. It is not the Gender Identity Equality Act.

Artichokeleaves · 21/01/2022 11:55

When did 'inclusive' get changed in meaning to 'pretending sex is something other than it is'?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 21/01/2022 11:46

Ooh! Some of those respones Grin

The green one will become more female and show empowerment by being a swimmer
The yellow one will claim to be female and not lose its nuts
The red one will swim, suck at it, claim to be a female swimmer and then beat the tar out of the green candy repeatedly

“This is not a parody”

beastlyslumber · 21/01/2022 11:35

M&M's too exclusionary? Should be M&MTF's?

OvaHere · 21/01/2022 11:30

M&M’s are apparently getting a new look to become more ‘inclusive’

As in the chocolate? How do you make chocolate more inclusive?

Appledrop · 21/01/2022 11:22

That was great to watch, go Matt, not that I agree with everything he stands for but on this he was right on point. Also had a browse at his wall and am sure I saw a post stating that M&M’s are apparently getting a new look to become more ‘inclusive’?

beastlyslumber · 21/01/2022 11:01

Wow that was so refreshing to see!

I agree - the people he's talking to there (i.e. the TRAs on the show with him) are bad people who don't care about the harm they cause. I love what he said for its clarity, simplicity and truth.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 21/01/2022 10:59

@nolongersurprised and @NotBadConsidering make important points about that Loudon County father.

I worry about that - he was desperate for someone to hear his daughter, and was dismissed by the school and the media - what about his community?

If he has support from other parents then things can escalate into civil unrest quickly. If he doesn't have local support, well, that way madness lies.

My impression is that MW has sympathy for the dad and is using his platform to add some sunlight to an unjust situation. MW benefits with clicks and attention, but he's got a point - a civilised society would not be so casual with the safety of girls.

I hope that man and his family are doing ok.

DoubleTweenQueen · 21/01/2022 10:25

Oh yes! I thought it was simply the tv show discussion :)

Kotatsu · 21/01/2022 10:18

Jesus - well, that pulled no punches..

Mind you, given his opinions he should probably take some of his own advice too.........

Kotatsu · 21/01/2022 09:58

AAAAnd one more thing.

Women are endlessly told that we'll get to women's issues once this bigger injustice is rectified (yes, I did watch that movie about Dagenham recently), we're just doing the same thing here - we'll take this person's support on this issue, and then work on other issues once this one is solved.

Kotatsu · 21/01/2022 09:56

I also wish I knew what it was that possess people to go onto a TV show completely unprepared and unable to define their terms.

He thought he was prepared - he tried the - "Oh, it's sexual organs/reproduction - what if someone's had them removed/doesn't want to have kids" line, as if that was a massive gotcha - which obviously it isn't. If you had a uterus to remove then YOU HAD A UTERUS

Phobiaphobic · 21/01/2022 09:54

@NotBadConsidering

CheeseMmmm

You have fallen into the exact same trap that the education board at the Loudoun County school where a male raped two girls. You’ve looked at who is speaking, and focused on their background, rather than listening to what they are saying. The concerns of parents, include the father of one of the victims, were dismissed because of the perception of what they were motivated by. As a result, no one listened, concerns were ignored and another girl was a victim.

It doesn’t matter what Matt Walsh has said in the past, or where his thoughts on other matters lie, on this he is correct. He went in front of a massive audience, calmly asked basic questions like “what is a woman?”, showed up the ideology for all it is and even got a professor to say, just moments after talking about the rape of a girl, that “it’s not a safety issue”:

mobile.twitter.com/mattwalshblog/status/1483925582274564097?s=10

For what it’s worth I believe he cares about this issue, I don’t think being conservative on other issues means you can’t, and it’s ridiculous to suggest otherwise.

Hard agree.
