Gender nonsense will be the Tories secret weapon

To my mind, the only way the Tories can get themselves out of their self made mess is to shine a light on gender woo woo in the Labour Party. I'm guessing that was behind Wes Streeting's tentative "maybe we shouldn't say burn the witch all the time".
How can they not see how vulnerable they are when Liz Truss has become a more appealing prospect for women's rights.
Jesus.

That's exactly what they were accused of doing, what do you think Section 28 was about

But they weren’t though and so it was campaigned against successfully and repealed. “Accused” is the key word here. Trans ideology does encourage the long term medicalisation and mutilating surgeries on young healthy bodies, in fact it is necessary to achieve the desired outcomes. This is not an “accusation”.

No they were accused of luring children into a 'gay lifestyle' where they would take drugs, have deviant sex and get AIDS.

But they weren’t though, and so they have prevailed and become the accepted and often aspirational members of society they should always have been. Well not lesbians so much - that’s never been “cool” has it? Still a lot of rage and resentment directed towards them…

They didn’t demand any changes in language Are you having a laugh? Many of the older generation were furious that a word that once meant happy and carefree was now used to mean sexual deviance as they saw it

One word. Not entire changes to all language relating to women and their needs. Not to mention 24 hour games of Let’s Pretend which include instructing everyone to ignore the evidence of their own senses, and even how they must refer to them when they’re not even there!

Have you ever read any radical lesbian literature from the period or looked at some of the agitprop that was produced at that time? The lesbian and gay movement was revolutionary in nature and many sought to overturn everything from capitalism to the nuclear family.

Fringe groups? Similar to the some more extreme TRA and the TRA/ANTIFA alliance in the US, who seem to make such comfortable bedfellows… and don’t such views originate in Marxism and the aim of deconstruction of society anyway? And are not a specifically “gay/lesbian” held view?

@Outlyingtrout

Barley really does think that every GC woman on mumsnet and beyond is white, straight, middle-aged, wealthy and Tory. How blinkered can you be. Just absolutely no understanding of the fact that GC women are from all backgrounds, all races, all ages and some of us are part of the LGB community they are attempting to speak on behalf of. You're not going to get very far insisting to a diverse group of women that GC feminists are irrelevant because we are only a handful of middle-aged, middle-class white women (let's ignore how misogynistic it is to dismiss that group), when many of us know that we don't fit into that group on several counts and we know that we are not outliers in our social groups either.
I don't know if barley thinks it or not but it's standard tactics isn't it?

And an encouragement to share personal information.

@DdraigGoch

Not that much of a problem given Biden's resounding election win on the back of the most pro-trans rights platform ever pursued by a US presidential candidate. *@barleybadminton* he was up against a lunatic. And still wasn't that far ahead in the popular vote. Said lunatic is now ahead of Biden in the polls.
I just don't understand how anyone even calls it resounding, 46% vs 51%? of the popular vote? I mean it's usual for them to be close, but that doesn't make it resounding.

The only voter demographic Trump lost in his second election was white men. Many others went up, including a lot of the "diverse" demographics.

And as you say - people aren't exactly happy with what Biden has actually done.

TooBigForMyBoots · 14/01/2022 00:14

What is PM Johnson's position on this?

Sorry (really this time), that's for Whatiswrongwithmyknee...!

CompleteGinasaur · 13/01/2022 23:56

I know. I'm sorry. I'll try harder in future. Though after practicing for nearly sixty years and still not getting it, I don't hold out much hope of any realistic change now.. Tee Hee.

(And to borrow a phrase from someone much younger - Sorry not sorry...?)

Whatiswrongwithmyknee · 13/01/2022 23:54

@barleybadminton

Why the fuck are you still here boring me to death?

Good line, I'm enjoying the carnage.

Aw, bless. You can't see that the carnage is coming from your mouth.
TooBigForMyBoots · 13/01/2022 23:54

To my mind, the only way the Tories can get themselves out of their self made mess is to shine a light on gender woo woo in the Labour Party.

Or they could scrap their own proposals to the GRA and repair the damage they have done to Women's Rights.Hmm They can do this. They have an 80 seat majority in the HoC.

Whatiswrongwithmyknee · 13/01/2022 23:51

You need to do womaning better @completeginasaur - be kind to others (well, men) and stop having an opinion which others (well, men) don't like. You can trust men to judge whether your rights are being protected and it's really unkind of you to challenge their authority in this regard. Have you even given one thought to their self actualising? There really is no price too high for people (well, women) to pay for other people's (well, mens) self actualisation.

KittyLeMew · 13/01/2022 23:46

Christ you’re actually working through the LOJ playbook now, at least get some original false equivalences going.

Just reposting this from my earlier comment and wondering how you think this is going to play with the ‘younger generation of feminists GCs have failed to win over’:

In fact why don’t you read this thread about the horrific racist abuse FGM survivor and campaigner Jana Cornell receives from TRAs simply for using the word female within the context of FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION:
panoramicgutterview.blogspot.com/2021/03/female-genital-mutilation-and-right.html?m=1

Or that Allison Bailey receives for standing up for women’s and lesbian’s rights.
twitter.com/BluskyeAllison/status/1480143656380252161

Or when it finally dawns on them that gender identity is wholly based on limiting sex stereotypes, that their identities, rights and experiences have been eroded, that they’ve been utterly gaslit and manipulated in order to validate a group of people who couldn’t give the slightest fuck about them.

And sorry but you can’t play the ‘moral panic over gay people’ card when your ideology seeks to erase same-sex attraction and coerce, pressure and shame lesbians into having sex with male bodies, gay men into having sex with female ones.

CompleteGinasaur · 13/01/2022 23:42

Sorry, Whatiswrongwithmyknee, I keep trying to be kind like I'm supposed to, but then Barley starts up with the old inane shite and the Red Mist descends...

Whatiswrongwithmyknee · 13/01/2022 23:38

Oh my god. Does Barley actually believe that most people are happy for women's spaces to be fully open to men? Does he or she really believe that GC people are in the minority? Bless. Be kind guys. Barley is going to find the wake up call quite difficult when he or she hears it.

CompleteGinasaur · 13/01/2022 23:35

And I've just reread my post and realise that it doesn't say quite what I meant it to - I did not mean to imply that I knew more than anyone on here about the struggle for gay rights (such a portentious phrase; I didn't choose it). I just meant Barley...!

CompleteGinasaur · 13/01/2022 23:31

Absolutely, DialSquare.

Do you think he's gone? Oh dear, how sad, never mind..

DialSquare · 13/01/2022 23:23

Oh well. We'll just have to come to our own conclusions then (if we haven't already).

CompleteGinasaur · 13/01/2022 23:17

@DialSquare

"As someone who is part of the LGBT community"

What part are you?

Extremely good question. But I don't think Barley answers those..
CompleteGinasaur · 13/01/2022 23:14

Two glasses. Yay!

CompleteGinasaur · 13/01/2022 23:13

And as someone who lived in a Lesbian Housing Co-op in the 80s, worked in Lesbian owned businesses, volunteered for years on a Lesbian helpline, marched against section 28 when it was still section 27, campaigned for an equal age of consent before Stonewall was even formed..

If you want to know anything about the struggle for gay rights, don't ask Barley, I'm sat right here.

Alekto · 13/01/2022 23:12

Bloody formatting Hmm

they are not having these conversations around you

CompleteGinasaur · 13/01/2022 23:06

And it doesn't matter what we were accused of back in the day, Barley, fact is the allegations were completely baseless. Unlike..

DialSquare · 13/01/2022 23:04

CompleteGinasaur · 13/01/2022 23:04
