One rule for women and another for transgender women.

Having long green nails and heavy makeup, breaches Hertfordshire Police Forces uniform policy, unless of course you're trans! Then you can do what you like to "feel like a woman".

Ah, Ok.
Well just a quick look at Hert police twitter account you don't have to scroll far at all see pics of other women officers being shown.
The first one I saw was someone looking like they're heavily tanned and like the fake tan bottle a lot or foundation.
Is anyone commenting on her appearance (apart from me now obviously which feels a Hmm thing to do.
Why aren't they?
Can anyone think why that may be?
Or is it just saved for what make up a trans woman is wearing?

TInkyWlnky · 09/01/2022 16:35

No. Must conform to the rules conditions of my employment, like everyone else doing the job

Yep. This would work.

CompleteGinasaur · 09/01/2022 16:33

@NoNotMeNoSiree

And if you look at the female officers who have their photos released on the same twitter account, no finger nails being shown I don't know how people who are trans put up with this kind of shit and scrutiny, honestly. Having to second guess your every move because somebody, somewhere is ready to pick apart your actions and appearance just for being yourself. '' Must remember not to show my hands in case someone doesn't like my polish '' '' better tone down my lipstick in case someone thinks it's too bright. '' As has been pointed out, there are other tweets of women all wearing make up. None look bare faced. Now its link to the exact same force, are they wearing the same type of colour? Etc etc etc etc Why? As you just know that they won't count as their lipstick is pink instead of red or whatever. Anyone can go look for themselves if they want to, they're not hidden away.

Fatfucker messages and tweets aren't the same thing. I read that as hundreds of messages (could be a mix of direct messages, emails and letters Anne Robinson Points of View style. Then the tweets on Twitter.
Ok you're right! I'll give them them the benefit of the doubt! But would still love to see the deleted tweet!!

I guess the woman face make up is required otherwise that officer couldn't signify to the world that they are a woman. After all, they don't have any other of the attributes of being one, as they are a male. So the only thing they can do is resort to stereotyping what a woman is. And yes it is double standards. Women don't need to wear makeup to show their biological reality. It's obvious they are women.

This person's biological reality shows clearly that they are a biological male. So to address this self percieved significant problem, this officer feels they need to wear make up to demonstrate to other people that being a woman is what they would like their biological reality to be and how they think they should be treated.

Maybe a hat, with the word woman written on it would suffice instead. So that people would know they are speaking to someone who is a man who wants to be a woman.

Would that work?

Why same force? What's that got to do with anything?
Because that keeps ‘all other things equal’. I mean, each force should have similar or same dress code, but I am not prepared to visit each force to check theirs.

Or do you think it appropriate to introduce us to females from another force which may have a different tolerance of application of the dress code to that force.

Spend two seconds on twitter, you can find countless pictures of non-trans women police officers wearing make-up and nail polish

Link them up please. Same force, females with non-neutral colours, long nails and heavy eyeliner. Or as the mail reported- including scarlet.

I look forward to you showing us up.

Hertsfordshire police in case you need a reminder.

Helleofabore · 09/01/2022 16:11

And if you look at the female officers who have their photos released on the same twitter account, no finger nails being shown.

But no heavy make up and nothing but neutral colours worn on lips or anywhere on the face.

So, please show us other officers in the same force that have been able to bend the rules to suit their desire to wear more makeup and not neutral colours. Please do link up where females get to bend the rules.

A second photograph showed the officer sporting scarlet-red nails and fake eyelashes, sparking hundreds of messages of complaint.

The force* took the image down, warning that 'derogatory comments' would be 'reported'.*

Hertfordshire Constabulary said: 'We removed the tweet following unhelpful comments from a relatively small number, many of which were irrelevant to the meaning and spirit of the post.'

Relatively small number of comments or hundreds of messages of complaints! Which one was it??

I don't trust our Police Forces one little bit! They lie and lie.

The only thing different about her is that she's trans
Exactly.
There was quite a lot of different police officers in the original series of tweets, which seemed to be about just showing them as normal (for want of a better word) human beings behind the uniform and not just a police officer.
All wearing differing amounts of make up.
Yet I didn't see anyone complaining that any of the non trans people were wearing too much mascara, the lipstick is too bright or whatever.
Strange, that.

lovelyweathertoday · 09/01/2022 15:51

Damn, hit post by accident,

I was trying to say this isn't about women wearing makeup. It's about Cherry apparently being allowed to ignore the uniform rules that any woman would have to follow.

lovelyweathertoday · 09/01/2022 15:48

@bhdsjhbs

Oh for heaven's sake. What is this brand of 'feminism' that GC feminists claim to champion that shames women for wearing make up? Cherry is one of several special officers (volunteers by the way) photographed wearing make-up and nail polish. The only thing different about her is that she's trans.

I don't shame women for wearing makeup (have a lot of respect for Kellie-Jay Keen

Helleofabore · 09/01/2022 15:41

bhdsjhbs

No feminism should be shaming anyone for wearing makeup. And they are not on this thread.

This is about double standards being applied and the standards for females being overlooked in this case.

Why should it have happened?

ViceLikeBlip · 09/01/2022 15:34

@NoNotMeNoSiree

I honestly don't get this. As in, she's wearing make up and nail varnish. So bloody what?! It can't be put down to anything like '' valid concerns, taking over toilets!'' I sometimes think anyone who is trans can't win (that's a saying in the UK, it doesn't mean trying to win an end game or anything!) Don't wear make up. '' You look too much like a bloke!!'' '' At least makes an effort - Stop appropriating womanhood! Who says you can wear makeup or nail varnish?! At least make it consistent. Or should it be that people shouldn't be trans at all? Genuinely (honestly) curious
Are you saying that life is not fair for trans women, because they don't look as much like women as women do?!
Helleofabore · 09/01/2022 15:27

On the other hand you have people up in arms because how come you get to wear make up and I don't?

Are we on the same thread?

Seriously?

You cannot see the double standards? Why am I not surprised?

Helleofabore · 09/01/2022 15:25

Couldn't give a toss whether police women wear make up or not.

Never even really noticed.

Errr. Because the dress code would state that make up be not heavily applied.

Meaning…. Not really noticeable.

See how that works?

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 09/01/2022 15:22

So, yet more playing chess with a fucking pigeon!

Warmduscher · 09/01/2022 15:15

@NoNotMeNoSiree

Doesn't come across that way on this thread Ok, but I really can't. Couldn't give a toss whether police women wear make up or not. Never even really noticed. On the other hand you have people up in arms because how come you get to wear make up and I don't? It's just make up. Maybe it's because I never wear it but I don't care if trans women wear it or not.
You are spectacularly missing the point here.

No one would give a toss if the dress code for women police officers included as much make up as you wanted and long, painted nails.

But it doesn’t - it’s clear that those things aren’t allowed, so either Herts Police knows Cherry isn’t a woman and is therefore exempt from the rules for women, or they believe Cherry is a woman but don’t think the dress code applies to Cherry because virtue signalling.
