Here we are in 2022, and this bloke thinks it's acceptable to advise JKR, a woman, talking about women's rights, to look in the mirror and shut the fuck up Angry

That this is twitter and not a dinner party?? Oh well, that's it women, time to wrap it up, Sean has announced that us wimmins shouldn't be having opinions in the public sphere, save it for dinner parties Hmm

Then tells her he "hopes" she can learn that people are only "encouraging" her that her opinions aren't welcome and she's young enough to learn. She's older than him! Condescending twat!!

That whole thread is pure misogyny and it's just so fucking depressing we are barely a week into the new year to see such a thing. He's not the first and he probably won't be the last but fucking hell Sad

I hadn't heard of him either, but I do think this is a sign of how unafraid men are becoming of displaying their misogyny. A few years ago if you were a progressive-minded man, you'd be as wary of making misogynistic comments as you were of making racist ones. Now they don't care. The story in the Times today about the rise in incel sites is of a piece with this.

He (Gunn, maybe also Blobby) seems to miss the fundamental point that it's not JKR insisting everyone care about her views, it's the TRAs.

She is merely suggesting that anyone claming to care about them should know what they actually are.

Obviously the fact that it was a Mr Blobby-identified person and not the person Assigned Blobby At Birth was important because the imposter didn't have the incisive grasp of the zeitgeist for which Mr Blobby is known.

No, no, no.

Because we were discussing people making prats of themselves on twitter, Pie brought up a different twitter event from last month, having been (presumably) labouring all this time under the misapprehension that it had been the official BBC Mr Blobby account.

Like many twitterati, Pie fell afoul of the subtle distinction between "claims to be Mr Blobby/female" and "actually is Mr Blobby/female", which epitomises this entire debate.

Are you talking about Mr Blobby? I often wondered how he got that plum gig on noels house party. Oh god sorry but having Mr Blobby (not even the official one) quoted as a credible source to put JKR in her place has just booted through the bottom of about 15000 barrels for me. I can’t stop laughing.

It was of extremely limited significance. A shit-posting account (literally - it normally posts jokes about human faeces!) takes time out from his normal schedule to post a different kind of tweet for attention. So what?

The only fascinating thing was other people's reactions, and how many trans activists assumed that it must be the real Mr Blobby because it had a profile picture of Mr Blobby.
