While I’m genuinely happy that a transwoman has won at a traditional show that will be in the living rooms of many American households I’m not happy that she is now classed as the top winning woman.

It’s a huge step for trans people, no denying that, but don’t take away women’s achievements.

  1. What is a "genuine trans woman"?
  1. How do you know who is "genuine"?
  1. Has it occurred it might be a "different" aspect of womanhood for the sole reason they are men?

You cannot experience womanhood as a man.

Not even one "aspect" of it.

All you can experience is the desire to present as a woman as someone who is male and the challenges of doing so.

Fundamentally, it sounds like your problem is that a trans woman existed and you really don't like it when they do that.

Fundamentally, it sounds like your problem is that you have difficulty deducing meanings from words.

It is a huge achievement. Would they not want to be celebrated as Top Scoring Trans Person? Thats a huge accolade for the whole LGBTQI+ community.

@WhoAre

Really?

Given your post on sexism in your workplace?

No.

Nice try at gaslighting though.

What I don't "like" is the ideology that men should be allowed to colonise the language and experiences of women and in doing so be held up of examples of the female sex in any given situation.

What you appear not to like is women saying "no".

How terribly sad for you. Here's a tiny violin🎻.....

Trans women aren't women though.

I see a problem.

As easy as it is to be condescending about having the top female score at a game show it's still taking a place from an adult human female.

There are some people who find this a worthy accolade on a CV for example.

However my primary objection is it's another example of normalising TWAW.

It doesn't matter what the "list" is. It's about men having access to that "list" at all.

This person is NOT the top scoring woman. Top scoring trans woman (or even trans competitor) yes.

Every time a TW takes a "woman" spot on a list it underscores the ideology they should be there in the first place and that a gateway into "inclusion" into sports, refuges, prisons etc.

I don't care if it's Jeopardy or woman of the year (Caitlin Jenner) or a place in top 100 business woman (Philip/Pip Bunce).

Don't make the mistake of not having a firm line and holding it because a failure to challenge creeping boundaries and obfuscation of language are exactly why we are in the position we are now - fighting for the very notion of what a woman is and thus the necessary legal protection our sex gives us.

There's no biological advantage in being a trans woman in Jeopardy so there's every opportunity for another woman competitor to beat her score. Nor is "top scorer at Jeopardy" really such an illustrious accolade that it needs to be protected. I really don't see the problem here.
