To not understand the issue with surrogacy?

I've seen a few posts on some threads in this topic, from people condemning surrogacy. I don't understand why it is seen as bad, if all parties consent. Can anyone explain, please?

*You or friend are banned*m

So your opinion needs to be take with a pinch of salt for being way way OTT

Starcup · 02/01/2022 23:52

Ot are you trying to emulate someone that shared extreme views? eek

Either way, weird…….

Helleofabore · 02/01/2022 23:52

Extinction rebellion affects everyone to various degrees, but surrogacy doesn’t at all, so if you honestly think people will listen to 11/12 nutters on MN then you’re more than deluded

Please do keep going.

Errrrrrrrrrrr weren’t you BANNED for your OTT views……. Shock

The references Bunnyfuller is that there is a growing body of evidence from children (many now adults) who have been adopted and donor assisted of some mental health issues arising from removal from their mothers at birth.

If you have no issues, then that is great news.

There have been two schools of thought on this thread about women choosing to be a surrogate:

  1. let her choose, who cares about the consequences
  2. let her choose, but show us a way to make sure protections are in place should that choice be rescinded, regretted, altered, or impacted by decisions beyond that choice.

The first is a libertarian, almost anarchic approach. Which is fine, if that’s what you’re into, but it needs to be acknowledged that this will harm the women physically and mentally you are purporting to support.

The second approach is, in my view, an insoluble question. Someone gives up rights somewhere. So as a result, a ban is the only answer, as agreed by France, Sweden, Germany, Italy etc. In countries where surrogacy has happened, there are examples of all the concerns possible: harm to the surrogate, the intended parents, the baby. There are no examples of these things in countries where surrogacy is banned. I would be interested to read opinions of women in those countries who want to be surrogates but can’t because their choice has been removed and listen to their arguments. I can’t find any examples.

Until coherent arguments can be put forward around this libertarian approach, I can’t see how surrogacy laws can be altered.

A scapegoat? For what?

No. But you just told me ‘ I think your opinions are your opinions and the world is changing and you’re shitting yourself… is what I think

And that my posts deserved no respect. So I assumed that you disagreed on these now.

Like sneakily telling me that the USA (I assume anyway) allowed surrogacy and it should be followed, which you then retracted.

I am now checking what you mean because it all seems very fluid depending on just who you are replying to.

Bunnyfuller · 02/01/2022 23:43

@Starcup

I feel bemused at the assumptions being made about adopted/surro kids. I don’t feel like I’ve suffered. I have parents that love me. I love them. I’m not sure at what point I’ve suffered.

Hey wims! Know your place. Know when to shut the fuck up! And earn respect.

Um yeah… that works well doesn’t it?

Starcup · 02/01/2022 23:38

@Helleofabore

So… you are now in favour of commercial surrogacy, and in favour of any clinic targeting vulnerable women.

Or are you simply continuing to denigrate posters as you have done for days because they have disagreed with you. And you have sought to shame the posters who disagree with you.

Plus continue to go around in circles.

And you are here talking about respect…

But you know the answer is no to both of your questions.

You just want a scapegoat. How bizarre…..

Starcup · 02/01/2022 23:35

@OhHolyJesus

The thing is, being respectful brings respect.

Well ain't that a lesson for us all.

Shall we add it to Be Kind and Be Quiet..

Oh and The World Is Changing (still need a woman to have a baby though) and Don't Shit Yourselves.

You’ll never get respect wit my your responses…… just saying.

You can’t pipe down and know when to shishhhhhhhh

Not for you, you’re replies, yours never deserved respect

And yet, I have answered many of the questions you have asked me. I have also repeated answers when you have circled back and repeated again.

I don’t deserve respect from you? That is fine.

Starcup · 02/01/2022 23:31

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 02/01/2022 23:31

You could offend many people using the name Jesus in vein

in vein eh? my word

Starcup · 02/01/2022 23:30

@OhHolyJesus

flippertyop · 02/01/2022 23:30

@roarfeckingroarr who says it's not ideal? It was ideal for my family. I wanted to get back to work and the kids were full time with their father. It was perfectly ideal. My idea of not ideal would have been a baby who couldn't bear to be without me for months as you describe. I thought feminism was about women having choices.

Helleofabore · 02/01/2022 23:30

@OhHolyJesus

how do you feel about that?

In vein? Jesus is in my veins, yes.

I feel just fine about it, thanks for asking.

I knew it!!

I've got some bread though.
And there's always wine wink

Same time tomorrow?**

Do continue to joke and take the piss, about Jesus, wine etc….. (doesn’t bother me as I’m an atheist but do remember, some of the people on your ‘team’ are religious…., not we don’t want you to alienate them do we? By mocking their belief system.

Have some respect…..

Helleofabore · 02/01/2022 23:29

The sad thing is, you and others make a mockery of real issues. That’s the sad part in a of this…

No. We are very serious about this and other issues.

I believe you started the ‘making a mockery’ when you started to be snide in your answers a few days ago. People have reacted to that since.

But we are serious about discussing the issues around surrogacy.

OhHolyJesus · 02/01/2022 23:25

how do you feel about that?

In vein? Jesus is in my veins, yes.

I feel just fine about it, thanks for asking.

KimikosNightmare · 02/01/2022 23:25

@PurpleDaisies

Not all countries…… the most powerful country in the world accepted it.

America? Did you miss that surrogacy is governed on a state by state basis? It’s certainly not the “America thinks it’s brilliant and allows it in all cases” that you’re implying in your post.

If we're playing that game the most powerful country in the EU and say 3rd/4th/5th most powerful in the world bans all surrogacy. That's Germany obviously.

France isn't far behind in the league tables and also bans it.
