This is not acceptable. I like that the DM includes a link to their website at the end of the article. Not sure the DM readership is their target market, but a nice touch.

Go witches go...

It's very telling that some posters can't even bring themselves to condemn death threats.

WeeBisom · 30/12/2021 15:48

It’s very telling that women can’t even be centred in a thread about them receiving death threats.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 30/12/2021 15:45

She was 34 when she took her own life because of the letter her mother wrote expressing your views

The questions that this raises are more about whether you're a reliable or trustworthy narrator of events and the way you choose to characterise a MN monolith rather than individual posters. It says nothing at all about your friend's state of mind and the way you're choosing to use your friend's lifestory.

GoatsAndBarley · 30/12/2021 15:41

It was nice of the parents to invite you all to the funeral to pay your last respects at least though.

GoatsAndBarley · 30/12/2021 15:37

She was 34 when she took her own life because of the letter her mother wrote expressing your views

What views? That biological sex is real? Don't you think it is real?

AbandonedCharacter · 30/12/2021 15:36

@Someposters are you going to address the death threats?

Gumbomambo · 30/12/2021 15:35

I don’t speak loudly and with vitriol against anyone. Neither do I send death threats, urges to commit suicide or disparaging remarks to other people. I admire Angela Wild enormously, they have been targeted and harassed since the witch T shirt and it’s been shocking to watch. Where’s the support for their beliefs and rights as lesbians? Where’s the sobbing and hand wringing for them?

SomePosters · 30/12/2021 15:34

She was 34 when she took her own life because of the letter her mother wrote expressing your views

I read the letter, I handed it to the police so that her death would be counted under the trans suicide statists, it was as hate filled and disgusting as the threads on here have slowly become.
A few days later she was gone

There were 200 trans people at her funeral because she was a shining star who was well loved by her friends if not her family.
It was nearly two years ago and I still ache not just for her but for what all those people suffered at her funeral and through the hole she left behind.

Unfortunately we were not enough to fill the gap left by her mothers rejection

AbandonedCharacter · 30/12/2021 15:33

And apologies for reducing WWW to her nationality and sexuality. It just seemed important if we're discussing minorities and protected characteristics.

AbandonedCharacter · 30/12/2021 15:31

@Someposters do you think the French lesbian deserves any death threats at all, let alone on a daily basis?

TheWeeDonkey · 30/12/2021 15:26

We I guess that justifies doxxing a lone parent and threatening to firebomb her house. Puts a completely different complexion to it.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 30/12/2021 15:20

I looked at them and I thought of you all… determined to see them as predators only playing dress up to access womens toilets… I thought how gracefully they carried their pain so as not to inflict it on others

I look with continuing weariness at some posters' faith in their own judgments, so convinced that they, for some to unquestionable reason, should be able to assert a bad faith interpretation of others' motivations and actions while accusing others of it.

GoatsAndBarley · 30/12/2021 15:16

200 transpeople no less. That's a lot of transpeople for anyone to know, let alone a single child. I thought transpeople were supposed to be a teeny tiny part of the population...

IndigoToo · 30/12/2021 15:16

Extra points for including 2 variations of “gracefully carrying their pain”?

Whatwouldscullydo · 30/12/2021 15:14

200 people at a child's funeral? How did a child know 200 people well enough to have them.attend a funeral ?

Helleofabore · 30/12/2021 15:14

I am never surprised by the lengths people go to manipulate others.

And how deep their own prejudice is while pointing out the supposed intolerance in others.

And laying blame for events on feminists who are fighting the negative impact due to the conflict of rights of another group on their hard fought for and now established rights.

Once you see that manipulation it is hard to unsee it.

I do extend my sympathy for your loss.

GoatsAndBarley · 30/12/2021 15:13

Maybe if you spent a bit more time getting to know the people you speak out so loudly against you would too

Which ones? The ones that gleefully tell women to such their girl dick? The ones that like to masturbate over the seats in the women's toilets? The ones that compete and win in women's sport? The ones that identify as women in the prison system, and then subsequently go on to assault female prisoners?

I'm sorry you lost your friend. But resorting to emotional blackmail to try and shame women into giving up their sex segregated spaces and destroy children's safeguards isn't going to wash any more. People can dress and present however they want. But males, no matter how they identify, should not be accessing women's sex segregated spaces. You are part of the problem. You think you're helping. You're making the problem worse.

I was wondering whether Someposters would include Al Jazeera amongst their media sources

Yes a list of acceptable sources would be great.

I mean surely to many even PN jumped the shark a bit surely? Like when they held Iran up as a shining example of trans acceptance/trans rights. Completely forgetting that gay people in Iran are killed or jailed and the only option is to change gender.

Needmoresleep · 30/12/2021 14:56

I was wondering whether Someposters would include Al Jazeera amongst their media sources Smile

I genuinely used to read both the Guardian and the Mail online. Both free and a chance to work out which of two possible conflicting views were closest to mine. (Oddly back in the day the Mail would regularly reprint Guardian articles particularly those on women and social issues.)

Then something went wrong with the Guardian. It became preachy and irritating, as if they owned the truth. I still feel free to disagree with stuff in the Mail and there is plenty of content I skip. I should pay for a subscription to the Times to replace the Guardian. Hence my interest in how Somepeople obtains a balanced access to news.

So what about the daily mail. Everyone here is surely capable of reading a range of sources and forming theor own opinions and gathering the relevant facts?

I'll read anything from the mail to pink news. " Know your enemy" and all that.

If everyone waited fir the right source at the right time by the right person at midnight on a full moon buying a potato , we'd all have a very long wait.

Anyway back to thr point of the thread.

These threats don't realky give the impression of an oppressed marginalised group now do they . Some people may want to re consider their approach to avoid coming across as nothing more than an entitled bully.

Funny how rape threats are ok but "mis gendering" isn't. Wonder who that benefits.....

I light have to place another order in solidarity

VestofAbsurdity · 30/12/2021 14:41

I agree you need to take a long hard look at the people on your team and who you are allying yourself with Someposters, I'd certainly be giving them a wide berth.

GoatsAndBarley · 30/12/2021 14:41

I remember a time when we didn’t share daily fail links here

I remember a time when people didn't think men could be women. I also remember a time when people understand the principles of safeguarding. How times change...

Helleofabore · 30/12/2021 14:41

Same goes for any posters and plopping down posts with the intent to shame posters into silence.

We can only assume that they are supportative of those issuing the threats since they have not focused on the topic just attacking the media who reported it.

PiglingBlonde · 30/12/2021 14:40

@Needmoresleep

Some posters, what do you read and why?

Genuinely curious.

Clearly they've never been on AIBU. That's at least 82% Daily Mail links. Usually by people who never read it.
