This is not acceptable. I like that the DM includes a link to their website at the end of the article. Not sure the DM readership is their target market, but a nice touch.

Go witches go...

@MargaritaPie

Yes threats are uncalled for.

But are we going to ignore the fact they are selling items with "T*RF" on them as if transphobia is "cool" and something to be glamorised and normalised?

Would T-shirts and mugs with "homophobic" on them be acceptable?

You're still missing the point. Does it really need to be explained again?
Gumbomambo · 30/12/2021 16:59

Yes look on their Twitter account.

Gumbomambo · 30/12/2021 16:59

“threats are uncalled for”. Never ever add a BUT here because what you are really saying is “apart from threats to these people”. What do you think of the trans person that’s “going on a terf hunt” with their pink and blue gun, the one they made on the 3D printers at university?

MargaritaPie · 30/12/2021 16:58

Do you have a source that isn't the Daily Mail?

AbandonedCharacter · 30/12/2021 16:56

@MargaritaPie And once again, what are your thoughts about the article?

Helleofabore · 30/12/2021 16:55

And yet, the word transphobic is applied to everything these days. Science included.

It is meaningless now due to overuse.

www.theguardian.com/media/2019/jan/23/dont-trust-daily-mail-website-microsoft-browser-warns-users

The Daily Mail isn't my choice.

"if black people can use the n-word, I'd love an explanation about why radical feminists can't use terf"

That analogy doesn't work. It's like saying we need an explanation about "why homophobics can't use the word homophobic".

And as I said on another thread being feminist doesn't mean Gender Critical. Emma Watson is an example off the top of my head, she's a feminist who does a lot to help women but is also not GC and supports trans-people.

Helleofabore · 30/12/2021 16:54

My understanding is TRF and transphobic are basically interchangeable.*

Your understanding is often wrong as consistently proven on thread after thread.

You rely on trope time and time again in your feeble and ludicrous attempts to ‘gotcha’. You truly are resilient on your belief that you are righteous pie, however I suspect it is driven by just the opposite.

Grumpyosaurus · 30/12/2021 16:50

Oh, we can't use it coz terf = transphobe?

Nah, you're not understanding.

The two are not the same.

Whatwouldscullydo · 30/12/2021 16:46

So you are inventing a link that doesn't exist as after all many biology believers aren't even feminists and the violence towards trans people thats the real transphobia is perpetrated predominantly by men who aren't terfs either...

I mean that's a bit far fetched don't ya think

Grumpyosaurus · 30/12/2021 16:46

So far I've been told on this thread that I shouldn't read anything published by the Mail, and that I should never use the word terf.

Well...um...No.

I can read the Mail and form my own judgement, thanks. And if black people can use the n-word, I'd love an explanation about why radical feminists can't use terf.

It's just another bloody squirrel. Or someone being implausibly obtuse.

AbandonedCharacter · 30/12/2021 16:46

Still not discussing the actual content of the article, I see MargaritaPie?

VestofAbsurdity · 30/12/2021 16:45

You understand wrong MargaritaPie but that's no surprise.

MargaritaPie · 30/12/2021 16:43

My understanding is T*RF and transphobic are basically interchangeable. It's not really something to proudly call oneself or to have on your coffee cup.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 30/12/2021 16:41

Speaking up for women to maintain their legal right to single sex spaces is not transphobic

But you know that

I consider it pretty homophobic to redefine same sex attraction to same gender attraction but then I’m not Stonewall

Whatwouldscullydo · 30/12/2021 16:41

A phobia is an irrational fear or hatred.

Feminists just don't include males in feminism and that's what terf means as feminism.is fir females.

That's not fear or hatred.

MargaritaPie · 30/12/2021 16:37

Theeyeballsinthesky · 30/12/2021 16:28

Even after several years on mumsnet I do find it interesting that some posters still don’t realise that mumsnet is not in fact their actual mum & it’s not our job to say “there there never mind” and sacrifice our own needs to theirs

I’m sure the condemnation of the death threats, harassment and abuse that women have faced for speaking out about their right to single sex spaces will come very soon….

Helleofabore · 30/12/2021 16:20

Maybe some posters should also look at the harm that is being perpetuated by unrealistic narratives being pushed by the community they are determined to sanctify. A narrative that attempts to bend reality to their own version rather than understand how their reality fits in with the rest of society and make sure that their claims for rights don’t negatively impact others. And then if they do negatively impact others deny that it has any negative impact at all.

And then admit just how much this contributes to the negative mental health within the community.

Got distracted and forgot to add this.

VestofAbsurdity · 30/12/2021 16:18

@Helleofabore

Yes. It is very apparent that there are posters who cannot denounce death threats to a lesbian and her children.
Deflect, deflect, deflect.

Must not and will not acknowledge what their side are doing, accuse the posters on here of being hate filled and disgusting, rape and death threats to a lesbian and her children would be classed as disgusting and hate filled by any decent person, but no, bring out the emotional blackmail because after all only certain lives matter.

A tactic that is so commonplace but that gives readers a live demonstration of the lack of self awareness, lack of evidence and how much posters rely on emotional manipulation.

Often extreme. And then cue other posters keen to progress the same agenda will then chime in telling women how mean they are for not giving in to the emotional manipulation. And the flouncing …

Very common.

Deliriumoftheendless · 30/12/2021 16:04

Must be a terrible time of the year to have no one pay you any attention in real life.

Helleofabore · 30/12/2021 16:00

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 30/12/2021 15:55

@AbandonedCharacter

It's very telling that some posters can't even bring themselves to condemn death threats.
Death threats are unequivocally a public harm. Such threats are in no way a valid contribution to useful discussion or critique in a private or public space.
bordermidgebite · 30/12/2021 15:54

Weebisom yes, I found that off
