Worth a watch. How much do men hate women who say 'no'. When speaking the truth is a revolutionary act.

Kellie-Jay is absolutely fantastic.
The ratio on Twitter is a joy and some brillant comments.

unwashedanddazed · 29/12/2021 15:46

KJKM is bloody marvellous! God, I wish she could bottle and sell that clarity and unswerving confidence.

Nice to see lots of people in the comments saying they've never heard of her but she's an instant hero to them Smile

Let's hope the head girls appreciate what she's done here.

MrsMadderRose · 29/12/2021 15:43

(And yes as PPs say, one reason so many men absolutely run with this is that it gives them carte blanche to dismiss what feminists think and discount women's experiences, and tell women off for not being nice.)

NancyDrawed · 29/12/2021 15:41

@Mochudubh

Slightly at a tangent but why is KJ sometimes PP? Obviously not for anonymity. I'm just curious as I hadn't heard of her before I joined MN and found her critique of SGreen's TED talk very interesting.
Can't remember when Posie Parker became Kellie-Jay Keen, but I do wonder whether it was a bit to do leading by example and using her real name rather than a pseudonym to try to encourage others to do the same if they were able.

Or maybe because it became common knowledge that PP was KJK? Her piece in The Spectator recently was as PP though if I recall correctly.

MrsMadderRose · 29/12/2021 15:41

His position was ridiculous and he didn't have a leg to stand on, and the interview showed it clearly.

But the worrying, and astonishing, thing is that this is what a great many under-informed and misled people think. Not necessarily stupid people either. And they can be very well-meaning. They think this because despite the detail of wherever the latest twitter arguments and definitions are at, the "born in the wrong body"/"poor sad persecuted trans person who has a male body but is [somehow] actually a woman" has been hammered into our collective consciousness for a long time now - not just the past few years. i thought this myself in a vague kind of way until the demands became more overreaching and it started being a big thing for kids, and I started thinking it through logically and looking for actual evidence.

This is why so many teachers, parents and general allies think they are just being nice and anyone who questions it is a nasty meanie.

Speaking the truth is shocking to these people because so many have sleepwalked into accepting total meaningless nonsense as fact.

@Whatthechicken

I’m sure many of us have met men like this in our working lives. They usually show up to work/board meetings full of their own arrogance, misogyny and very little of anything substantive. I had the pleasure of working with such a man. He did no prep for meetings, no research, never completed his actions from the previous meetings - he’d just try to belittle the work I’d done and then when he could see I was passionate about something - he’d tell me to ‘calm down’ in front of the board. When they can’t compete or match, they pick faults, they bully, they talk over, they insult. Fuckers always get found out in the end though. That presentation that blew everyone away in 1998 - can only be dined out on for so long.
Spot on.

And bloody well done KJ if you're reading Xmas Smile thank you!

Oldtiredfedup · 29/12/2021 15:13

Listened earlier.

The bloke was playing Straight out of the Misogynist’s Strawman almanac.

Goatsaregreat · 29/12/2021 15:10

She was fab - and he came over as a weapons grade prat. Tis always the way - sneering, hostile and speaking complete nonsense while being so certain of how right he was Grin Grin

TheWeeDonkey · 29/12/2021 15:10

@Floisme

I'm sure there's someone out there who was born in my body. Was it one of you fuckers?
It was me, sorry. I've proper fucked it up to 🤣

He's one of a number of men who enjoy having a debate regardless of what's at stake for the person they're interviewing. The other person's distress is just good entertainment for them. They might even enjoy seeing women distressed, enjoy talking down to them as if they were primary school children and enjoy talking over them, and I've encountered his type before.

Men like him have been waiting for this moment for years - the time where they get to tell women how incredibly horrible and exclusionary they are (remarkably similar to incel accusations , all because they resent women sticking up for themselves and asserting their rights. They've never got over the fact that women ventured outside the kitchen and are determined to make this crucial moment for women's rights hurt as much as possible. They're loving the fact that outspoken women are outcasted whilst men like James get to score points with the left. It is a time of sweet revenge for them.

He's a very clear example of this, and it's incredibly revealing that he brings up the topic of single-sex spaces as if it's on par with women's single sex spaces.

James smugly thinks he has the upper hand over the simple women folk who don't seem to quite understand what's what, yet makes an absolute tool of himself. I'm glad this interview was recorded for everyone to see.

Honestly, I laughed out aloud at several points during it.

Redshoeblueshoe · 29/12/2021 14:56

Well I've never heard of James Max - what a dick

Floisme · 29/12/2021 14:56

I've not listened to this yet but I find it fascinating that she doesn't prefix her points with 'I'm sorry but....' (like I do) or try and soften what she says by smiling. It brings it home to be how conditioned I am to be pleasant.

Runningupthecurtains · 29/12/2021 14:54

@rabbitwoman

My second post is quite controversial but I really hope it stays up because its a very interesting point I have noticed....

But let's face it, kellie is gorgeous. And the fact that kellie is so gorgeous is probably even more galling to these men because hey!! What else are gorgeous women for, if not for men to look at, if not to make men feel flattered by their attention. How dare she ruin that by being so strident, eloquent and intelligent? How dare she tease James so by being desirable but then rejecting him by not immediately agreeing with everything he says.....

Kellie highlights this stunning misogyny, I reckon, better than an old growler like me could. Same misogyny that says women can't be funny, or leaders, because as soon as they show strong personalities they stop being compliant sex objects.....

Nah we all know that feminists are just ugly old women who hate men because they can't get one.
TooWicked · 29/12/2021 14:54

I agree Rabbit she’s very Marylin-Esque which, in all the interviews I’ve watched her do, seems to add to men’s incredulity and outrage in a way that it doesn’t perhaps with some others.

I just fucking love the fact that she simply says “no” and doesn’t give even an inch. I’ll admit that made me quite uncomfortable when I was new to the whole subject, but now I can totally see and appreciate why.

Masdintle · 29/12/2021 14:49

I agree rabbit she is gorgeous. And they do get cross that she doesn't simper. I could watch her for a long time

TooWicked · 29/12/2021 14:45

Some of the replies to his tweet though GrinGrinGrin

This reminds me of the time Prince Andrew thought his Maitlis interview went well. Egos are quite the drug.
