Thought you would all enjoy this little bit of guerrilla feminism spotted deep in the New Forest, Hampshire today. Brought a little Christmas cheer to my sister and I!

Oh come off it.

There's a world of difference between something which can be removed in a second by any person seeing it, if one feels inclined, and which is causing no damage at all to the vehicle used for its display and something which has vandalised the display vehicle and requires calling out workers with specialist equipment to remove it.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 26/12/2021 03:23

It's scribbling political messages onto natural stones.
That can also be seen as a form of graffiti.
It doesn't have to just mean spray paint cans on a wall in an underground subway or whatever.

KimikosNightmare · 26/12/2021 03:16

Yes, but the act of writing on stones/slate as someone pointed out at the beginning of the thread could be seen as a kind of graffiti?

Hyperbole is never good for either side's case.

This is graffiti.

That slate, regardless of what one thinks of the message, is not graffiti.

@Rhannion

And slate is a nature material so quite at home in a forest.

Rhannion · 26/12/2021 02:49

That’s a fantastic slate.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 26/12/2021 02:46

I never said I don't like women's safety.
Don't try putting words in people's mouths.

CorvusPurpureus · 26/12/2021 02:19

@ArabellaScott

"feminism is the radical notion that women’s safety matters more than men’s need for validation"

Is it women's safety that is 'anti-trans', Blueberry?

I am confused as to how this slogan might upset passing trans people of either sex or any gender.

Maybe Blue or Willis, sorry, Siree, could clarify as to which bit of women's safety they don't like?

NoNotMeNoSiree · 26/12/2021 02:09

oh shush @blueberrycheezecake**
Did you really just do that
What happened to wanting a debate?
We're on page 2, we've had a dissenting view and as a result already a shush, an attempt at gaslighting and an accusation of derailing.

CovidPassQuestion · 26/12/2021 01:59

To counteract the derailing perhaps?

NoNotMeNoSiree · 26/12/2021 01:44

Gaslighting.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 26/12/2021 01:44

There's nothing "hateful" in this thread, pictures or words, except YOUR transphobic post, which takes a wild leap from "men" to "trans people"
That is such utter bullshit, and I know you must know it! Grin
You're telling us, presumably with a straight face, that that sign is nothing to do with trans people?!
You're seriously going '' It means men, not trans women, No, You're Transphobic silly for even thinking such a thing!''
As if lol

NoNotMeNoSiree · 26/12/2021 01:36

where does trans anything come into it
Ok, if you say so.

CovidPassQuestion · 26/12/2021 01:24

Where does trans anything come into it? The message is a definition of feminism.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 26/12/2021 01:19

@lovelyweathertoday

I have a friend who has recently come out as trans. Trying to imagine going for a walk through the forest with him and coming across that. Just why?!

I don't understand - why would the message upset a woman who identifies as a man?

Well, being trans it's going to feel a bit shitty coming across an anti trans message when you're just out for a walk whether you're a trans man or a trans woman. I don't care what anyone says, that message definitely is anti trans even if you argue its for women's rights - going on about validating men's feelings is whether you like to think it isn't or not.

Goatsaregreat · 26/12/2021 00:13

Love that message - wherever it's placed. People depending on women for constant validation to believe they exist need help.

aramox1 · 25/12/2021 22:52

It's a very poor definition of feminism

NoNotMeNoSiree · 25/12/2021 22:50

Just for clarification my friend is a trans man which is why I'm using he pronouns.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 25/12/2021 22:47

@BlueberryCheezecake

Agree with EarthSight, the forest is not the place for your hateful graffiti. Imagine being a trans person out trying to enjoy nature and get away from it all and you come across an anti-trans message scrawled on a rock, and it reminds you that to some people, you're just not welcome to so much as exist in the world.
This I have a friend who has recently come out as trans. Trying to imagine going for a walk through the forest with him and coming across that. Just why?! Have your beliefs by all means, but I can't comprehend physically putting messages out there like that to potentially make somebody 's day that little bit shittier/harder/upsetting (and if anyone's reaction to that comment is boohoo hurty feelz, that says more about you than me.
FreeBritnee · 25/12/2021 22:35

I like the idea of such a message beneath a beautiful stone in a beautiful place. Perhaps washing up on the beach.

It's only anti trans if you believe TW are men, surely? It doesn't mention TW, it's about women's rights. Xmas Confused

Can you explain why it is transphobic?
