FWR (as I still think of it) is a very important corner of the Internet.

I read here almost daily, and the amount of information here is incredible - evidence, links to articles, tweets, feminist analysis, philosophical conversations, academic studies, court cases, judicial reviews, updates on previous cases... the list goes on and on. Personally it takes me time to keep up, let alone feel brave enough to comment Smile

At this time of the year, especially, I just thought it would be nice to create a little thread to say thank you to all the regular contributers from the ones like me, who read but rarely post. Thanks for the information, the wisdom, the challenging discussions and all the lovely dinosaur names!

Hopefully some more lurkers will join me so I'm not left languishing on this thread alone!

Thanks All, and lang may yer lum reek! Xmas Smile

Another lurker here

DadDadDad · 22/12/2021 20:36

Nice idea for a thread. Thank you from another (mostly) lurker. This board has helped me keep up with the debate and the issues as they rage on Twitter and elsewhere.

Dontgetyerknicksinatwist · 22/12/2021 20:33

I’m a lurker too. I suspect there are a lot of us out there, too scared to speak out.

Flingingmelon · 22/12/2021 20:33

Thank you - came for the babies, stayed for the GC feminism

DramaAlpaca · 22/12/2021 20:32

Another lurker saying thanks.

Winederlust · 22/12/2021 20:32

Another (mostly) lurker here to add her thanks to all the amazing women on this board. It was definitely FWR that peaked me and I'm slowly getting braver in real life thanks to you lovely lot.

crunchermuncher · 22/12/2021 20:31

Thank you all for being here. I would be questioning my sanity if I couldn't come here for a reality check.

Sending love to all who are struggling, especially those suffering in silence Flowers

@WorriedMumsDontSleep

Thank you. Wish I could get some of you to come to my house. I'm not very good at explaining the mess were in to my husband, who is sympathic but has difficulty understanding a lot of the batshittery.
I guess it's because they're not really as invested as we are. And not just that, they don't experience ze sexism all the time (hence the lack of investment), so it's not the familiar, same old, same old.

The way I got my DH to listen is by just saying how important it was to me.

I wasn't particularly political (then), so he had never really heard that sort of sentence about this sort of thing. From me at least.

I just said this is really, really important to me and I'd like you to listen, even though I might get upset, or angry, or you might not immediately get it.

And. Of. Course. I said it's not personal.

Because in order to understand transgenderism, you have to understand sexism, and then you get totally involved in whole NAMALT business.

Good luck. Take it slowly. But obviously take wine!!

mammajustkilledagnat · 22/12/2021 20:30

Thank you from me. The regulars of this forum are well-informed, articulate and like an elephant never forget. This is the most invaluable feminist resource going at the moment (in my opinion) and is a cornerstone of UK feminism. Directly because of this forum and my chuntering four women have become openly GC, and a man has armed himself in advance of his workplace wanting to adopt pronouns in comms (he's heard the rumbling and now has the necessary links from yours truly and the ear of the HR head to hopefully put a spanner in the works when someone tries to push it through). Keep going ladies, you (we) are making a difference.

SirSamuelVimes · 22/12/2021 20:30

I lurk lots and post sometimes. Thank you to all FWR regulars, with a glass of wine and a mince pie raised to those who have fallen under the permanent ban hammer, the ever-missed LangCleg in particular.

Merry Christmas vipers!

lochmaree · 22/12/2021 20:29

another grateful lurker here, thank you!

ElaineMarieBenes · 22/12/2021 20:28

Hello friends. So many useful links and info here. Thanks to all who contribute, and entertain, educate and inspire us.

Merry Christmas everybody.

ISeeTheLight · 22/12/2021 20:20

Adding my name to the list. Thank you - a wealth of information, I've learned lots. I used to be of the be kind persuasion but you've helped me change my mind.

Ramayquaza · 22/12/2021 20:19

And me! Thank you all Thanks

clopper · 22/12/2021 20:18

Yes thank you I have learned a lot from these threads and have told my daughters. I swear most people have no idea what is going on.

notaclownfish · 22/12/2021 20:17

Thank you! At times this year I have felt like I was losing my mind, and I would come here and be reassured that I was not alone, not crazy, and that the emperor is in fact stark bollock naked.

BoogieFeet · 22/12/2021 20:17

Yes, thank you from another lurker Xmas Smile

Whatthechicken · 22/12/2021 20:16

And… I’m getting braver every day. I sign stuff, challenge stuff, write to my MP and wear my t shirts with pride.

partystress · 22/12/2021 20:16

Hear hear! Although these boards are sometimes depressing, the eloquence and intelligence that shines through in the regular contributors’ posts is always uplifting. I am openly GC with a few close friends, but have to avoid the topic with DS and DH, and would be in trouble at work if I challenged the Genderbread ideology, so this space helps reduce the isolation.

Whatthechicken · 22/12/2021 20:15

I am extremely grateful to all of the wonderful women on here. I occasionally post, but what I’ve read and learned here has been invaluable. My interest peaked when I became a mum to two very vulnerable adopted children. The way I teach and guide my daughter and son is now very different to how it would have been if I’d not discovered the ‘naughty corner’ (and Magdalen Bernes). Thanks all.

Crunched · 22/12/2021 20:13

Me too! I feel vastly ignorant in comparison to the posters in this topic but learn so much from your discussions.
