So says this article anyway

"Acting as an accelerator, the Internet maternity forum Mumsnet has grown over the years to become a hub for British transphobia. Many stay-at-home mothers have become convinced there of the danger that “transgender ideology” poses to their children."

Funny, I could've sworn I went to work yesterday, must have dreamed it Hmm

''Julian Vile'' identifies as left wing and has written some interesting articles including ''Imperialism Is Responsible For Omicron''.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/12/2021 12:05

Mind you I don’t think they have the mental fortitude to debate with the vipers

We know that from all the times they flounce wailing about "pile ons".

BaronessWrongCrowdRex · 15/12/2021 12:02

Yup. Stay at home mum here. Work part time though, also have achieved rather a lot before and after having kids. Stuff I’m really proud of including retraining for a new job sector.

Know of one stay at home mum who completed a degree recently but hey ho.

It makes me laugh when Mumsnet gets sneered at. There are lots of people from all walks of life, doing lots of different things. They should try engaging sometimes instead of whinging about it. Mind you I don’t think they have the mental fortitude to debate with the vipers Xmas Grin

Mum's care for their children SHOCK! Fits in with parents are tyrants and an oppressive class by stopping paedophiles accessing them as suggested by a reporter for the Independent.

Beamur · 15/12/2021 11:55

@RoyalCorgi

We've discussed before the ubiquity of Schrodinger's Mumsnetter - simultaneously a feather-brained middle-class mum looking after her precious baby and being supported by her husband and an evil witch hell bent on the genocide of vulnerable trans people.

Anything, anything at all rather than engage with the arguments.

Absolutely. Plus the 'well funded' trope, which completely ignores the fact that in the UK grass root funding from individuals has been compelling. Plus! The 'lack' of attendees to any demonstrations, etc, not quite sure what this is referring to as the activism around this area is mostly specific and woman centred, and anyway aren't all the naughty sock puppet Mummies who are simultaneously only a handful of individuals and a tsunami of moral indignation too busy at home looking after babies and clutching their pearls...
ScreamingMeMe · 15/12/2021 11:54

rarely mobilise’ outside the ‘galaxy of Twitter accounts and shadow organisations’.

Apart from all those meetings and protests we have, which TRAs try to disrupt or stop.

Has this person done any research outside of twitter?

SerfNTerf · 15/12/2021 11:53

Oh I hope nobody is thinking I have an issue with stay at home mothers! Its an absolutely valid choice for women to make, I was one myself for years.

I am irritated at the way they have used it as a way to insult and belittle us and discredit our opinions. Clearly they think it's a lesser choice in some way Hmm and signifies that we're all just baby brained fluff heads with old fashioned notions. Misogynistic arses Angry

They're just mummies! Prams and nappies! No internal lives, no brain because obviously that falls out of the uterus with the baby, no social worth of any kind, for the love of genderism will you please stop listening to them!

Sexism on crack as usual.

my experiences growing up as an Albanian royal goatherd in the 1740s

I want to read that :o

Franca123 · 15/12/2021 11:48

The whole piece just serves to show that women's oppression is because of their sex not their gender identity. He makes it clear that women's opinions become null and void when they go through the process of becoming mothers. Something a trans identifying male would not ever do.

Corbally · 15/12/2021 11:48

@Forgotthebins

I do love the idea of being coated in a “progressive veneer”. Can I get it with sparkles for the online team Christmas party? That line made me think of “men are who they say they are, women are who men say they are.”
Hear hear. My ‘progressive veneer’ has glittery reindeer antlers. If I were having a work Christmas party — kiboshed by covid — I would be wearing it.

They certainly don't understand how many or the type of users the site has or the depth of its influence.

Maybe don't tell them.

BraveBananaBadge · 15/12/2021 11:44

In Vile's extremely limited defence, the piece was first published in French and has been translated by someone else, which explains some of the stranger descriptors in there I suppose.

womanity · 15/12/2021 11:39

I wish I was a stay at home mum, but, yanno, money.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/12/2021 11:39

Most of them don't identify as anything we would recognise as "women".

Crouton19 · 15/12/2021 11:36

Funny how these people say they identify as women but not the women who take on the majority of the childcare and household side of things. Want to be a woman and also sit around in their pants all day on the internet with no responsibilities. Hmm…

(For the record, I also don’t have children.)

RoyalCorgi · 15/12/2021 11:35

PronounssheRa · 15/12/2021 11:33

Maternity forum, what now?

I don't think the author understands what MN is. Actually I don't think the author understands much.

StonewalledNameChange · 15/12/2021 11:33

Even back when I didn't really find that my views on trans acceptance and women's rights aligned with the consensus-ish on FWR, I saw these rants about 'MN transphobia' as misogyny. Get back in your lane, mothers!

KittenKong · 15/12/2021 11:32

The babies didn’t seem to get the brain. Wonder where it went, wobble wibble, must get the tea on and the laundry out of the drier...

PleasantBirthday · 15/12/2021 11:27

It's funny how they think we export our brains with babies.

MonsignorMirth · 15/12/2021 11:26

"Maternity forum" lmao
"Stay at home mothers" (not that there is anything wrong with realising the cost of not having a parent doing childcare) lmao

LimpLettice · 15/12/2021 11:25

I actually am a SAHP now after years of being a WOHP in a senior position. Doesn't change how I feel about reality though.

Same old mix of old fashioned misogyny, hating their mummy's and getting cross with the women who refuse to stop safeguarding our and all children no matter what they throw at us. You'd think they would stop for a minute and think about how it looks being so desperate to chisel away the main safeguard most kids have.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/12/2021 11:22

How many more of these unoriginal "waah I hate you mummy" articles are there going to be? Grin

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 15/12/2021 11:19

Very old fashioned sexism from the lefties there.
