So says this article anyway

"Acting as an accelerator, the Internet maternity forum Mumsnet has grown over the years to become a hub for British transphobia. Many stay-at-home mothers have become convinced there of the danger that “transgender ideology” poses to their children."

Funny, I could've sworn I went to work yesterday, must have dreamed it Hmm

This is great. I had to check the date of the article; this shows that they don’t have any more or new arguments - still whining about utter made up nonsense from 5 years ago - they don’t have anything else in their arsenal. 😂
Forward FWR we are winning!

DialSquare · 15/12/2021 13:17

Does make you wonder why so many TRAs do their best to deter advertisers and monitor and report threads to shut them down if we're all just a bunch of clueless stay at home mums (not my definition).

Noshowlomo · 15/12/2021 13:15

I had a really good chat in work this week about someone who arranges training. I told her what I thought of stonewall and why.. she had no idea. No idea that so many companies were parting ways. I said if she arranged any training by stonewall then I’d be reluctant to go on it as they lie, make up the law to suit them, are cancelling women etc. She was very interested and said oh well maybe we won’t be with them soon. I said no way will I ever be putting pronouns in an email and she agreed she wouldn’t want to but nearly did in the past due to what people might say.
People are becoming more aware about this dangerous, LUDICROUS trend.
And I also work every day… SAHM lot on mumsnet indeed! Nothing wrong with being. SAHM but what a sexist assumption !! Coz we all stay home, are on mumsnet all day obviously 🙄

BunnyBerries · 15/12/2021 13:14

It kind of just sums up the issue, doesn't it - just daring to speak an opinion, to express any "disagreement" without even doing anything else, means you are a potential activist against them. Quiet little women!

prudencepuffin · 15/12/2021 13:05

Apparently we are mostly rad fem lesbians (but also conventional stay at home mums), and linked with far right evangelists in the US.
At a GC recent action on the streets in my area, there was about 98 percent support from the public. This article is a load of old bollocks.

MrsMadderRose · 15/12/2021 13:05

Also how are the kind of rational discussions held on MN not "real-life" proper activism, yet are strangely effective enough to "act as an accelerator" and grow into a terrible threating "transphobia" "hub". Which is it?

Clue for you Julian - it's because thinking things through and making sense of them is more convincing than holding protests to wave meaningless gender slogans, screaming "witch" and trying to destroy women's careers because they disagree with you.

MrsMadderRose · 15/12/2021 12:59

Mind you I don’t think they have the mental fortitude to debate with the vipers

Well exactly. And sometimes, because MN is not actually monocultural or prescriptive, trans people and/or allies do join discussions on FWR and people engage in sensible discussion, unlike certain "no debate" gender ideology proponents.

When someone tries to argue the case for things like self ID and what gender identity is, they tend to lose the argument or make a hasty disappearance because they have no argument and that becomes obvious when rationally questioned.

That's not transphobia, it's being asked to explain. If you can't make a sound argument, that's not MN's fault – it's just what happens when people ask questions instead of rolling over and worshipping at the altar of gender theory.

That reflects badly on someone.... and it ain't MN.

@BunnyBerries

I just LOVE how that article writer thinks that "real life activists" have to "occupy public space" out in the cold, probably with their balaclavas on and big cardboard signs in order to gain any public support, or influence any public policy.

Not go to work behind the scenes with cups of Brew doing fearless FOIs, digging for causes, emailing MPs and having quiet words with the school principal on new policies.

Keep thinking that mate. You'll never find us

Quite a lot of 'activists' aren't actually very interested in actually doing anything.
Wheresthebeach · 15/12/2021 12:54

The more a simple bunch of 'stay at home' mothers organise and join groups like Fair Play For Women the better. Honestly - the dismissive attitude is very telling. No debate, meets misogyny.

WarOnWoman · 15/12/2021 12:48

My big takeaway is AHA!, France is finally getting the idea of GC.

I thought the same - oh good, they get it.

Also, the reframing of women defending their and children's rights as being transphobic is not new, of course, buts it is relentless in that article.

galaxy of Twitter accounts and shadow organisations

I'm not on twitter but I do like the idea of being in a shadow organisation. Do we get costumes and a secret hand shake? 😉

I honestly wonder how gender woo is taken so seriously. They think they can literally mind over matter themselves into the opposite sex.

Interrobanger · 15/12/2021 12:31

It’s good that they think that. That way we can crack on with destroying the patriarchy from within, behind the frumpy cloak of matronly knitting and homemade jam chats.

AliceA2021 · 15/12/2021 12:30

Perfect I feel the same. The silly groups to chat about this and the pushing in schools PHSE really is confusing to some/many children

"Bellendejour

Yes how transphobic to not want our children confused by a load of genderwoo bobbins from age three and up. FUCK OFF AWAY FROM OUR KIDS WHOSE PARENTS LOVE AND CHERISH THEM AND WANT THEM TO DEVELOP NATURALLY AND HAPPILY THEIR OWN WAY WITHOUT YOUR BULLSHIT FUCKING DEMIFURRIKINS BOLLOCKS"

AnyOldPrion · 15/12/2021 12:30

I was surprised to be accused of not having a job by two anonymous accounts on Twitter the other day. I have to wonder, therefore, whether this is to be the latest wave of attack.

A brief foray into one of their timelines indicated that the person was almost certainly a student which was ironic. Had he or she done me the courtesy of a similar check, they’d have noted I work in two professions, sometimes more than full time. I took the piss out of them for a bit. I think they thought they’d scored some wonderful insult. But I did think that they were horrible to attack as strenuously as they did. Had I been struggling to get a job for some reason, or if I felt inferior as a full time mum (for example) it could have been quite hurtful. They came across as vindictive children.

ShagMeRiggins · 15/12/2021 12:29

What fresh hell is this?

Being part American, part French, and having lived in Britain for 20 years, having had an extremely interesting and lucrative tech career, having chosen to be a SAHM, having later launched my own home-based business with a turnover of £125,000, I’m recognising so many cultural indicators yet struggling not to laugh loudly at this article.

My big takeaway is AHA!, France is finally getting the idea of GC.

AliceA2021 · 15/12/2021 12:28

Well the transgender ideology in my son's school is real and being pushed. They have a lunchtime GBLTQG?Unicorn group at lunchtime and they keep trying to get the students to join to talk about their sexuality and how whatever they decide is ok. Well guess what, one very mixed up boy of a friend was straight then gay and now thinks he might be transgender. Give children the chance to think what they want rather than pushing them to put themselves in a box and up the numbers.

Echobelly · 15/12/2021 12:25

I don't always agree with views on trans issues here, but I do quite often find myself asking people to just listen to themselves when talking about mumsnet and to realise how unacceptably misogynistic it should be to be sneeringly paint 'mums' as all one thing or another and imply mums must be stupid, politically ignorant, overprotective, pearl clutching etc.

Identifies as “left wing” eh? Since when is it “left wing” to dismiss / discredit someone’s opinion on the basis that they’re unemployed?

I’m a SAHM. I also have a master’s degree and worked at management level for many years. I’m not fucking stupid. I just happen to have a kid with SN who can’t cope in wrap around care.

Datun · 15/12/2021 12:20

Yep, to paraphrase JCJ this issue is the biggest patriarchal unmasking in history.

Although, in women's defence, they don't have to do much when certain men rip the mask from their face with both hands, fling it on the floor, stamp on it and then set fire to it.

Love this!

We're only the ones who raised them, loved them, cared for them, taught them, spoke up for them, celebrated them, wiped away their tears.

And they think they can come along, fuck with their brains with genderwoowoo bullshit, pull them in by telling them they're extra special, convince them their mothers hate them, that they need to change their little bodies with drugs and irreversible surgeries? They couldn't care less about our amazing individual children, who we would give everything for.

The only thing they care about is recruiting numbers to the cause, whether that's patients or allies, and £££. And if those patients realise they've made a terrible mistake, they won't be around to pick up the pieces. We will be. They'll be handed back to us then, broken and forgotten as the genderwoo cult moves onto the next child.

And they think they can demonise us, call us boring old right wing brainless stupid bigoted mum? Misogynistic bullshit won't make me back away from keeping my daughter out of that shitshow so they might as well FUCK OFF and keep on fucking off forever.

littlbrowndog · 15/12/2021 12:17

@Ozanj

It’s actually young working class men and women who are least likely to accept trans ideology and they know this. In 10-20 years trans ideology will be as dead as a dodo as the Tik tok generation moves onto better causes & LGBT focusses on the parts of the rainbow that aren’t trying to conform to stereotypes.
Agree with this. No one I know believes in the gender identity. In fact it is joked about.
