I thought given how discussions are going on some other threads it was worth pulling this out of the Zara thread

6ft bearded male presenting reporter says he identifies as female & is let into womens changing rooms.

this is what the issue is. If any man can say he is a woman & get instant access to womens spaces then that is massively open to be abused

@Shedmistress

Well yes exactly. How do we women tell the difference

You aren't allowed to tell the difference, that is the point, You have to allow men, all men, to do whatever it is they want, and if it goes wrong, and you get hurt, its your fault for allowing yourself to be in that situation.

This ^^

If a man says he is a woman then it is the truth and women have to believe.

Apparently Hmm

@Rhannion

I remember the Hampstead swimming ponds situation where women said at the time that Jewish & Muslim women would be unable to use the ponds as their religion forbids them sharing spaces with men, so it follows that the same will happen with those women when it comes to changing rooms and gyms. I also remember the ridiculous man that is the health minister in Scotland saying that refugee muslin women shouldn’t have to share their spaces with me they were unrelated to, and yet he can’t, or won’t see that no women should be expected to share our spaces with men in dresses.
And what women said would happen did happen, in that male people now have their preferred choice in the moment of the best pool to fit themselves most sensitively and carefully respecting all aspects of them -

and female people who can't share mixed spaces cannot use the pools at all, and are excluded, many of whom have protected characteristics.

This is supposed to be not only a good thing, but progress under these politics: which is only justifiable if you think the special care of some male people outweighs the actual inclusion and access at all of female people.

Dictionary definition of male supremacism is interesting. Just saying.

Rhannion · 16/12/2021 01:38

That’s should read men not me obviously, can’t find my reading glasses again!

For sure.

Feminism has gone too far is where conscious or subconscious, incredibly widespread.

Especially men with certain characteristics.

Loads of men hate women's sport taking airtime from the real sport.

The attitude expressed sometimes is obv the blatent end-

You wanted equality?
You got it!
We can punch you in the face now.

@Outdoorbeanbags

I don’t know how anyone can read those DM comments (trolls)… one man pretty much said that this is what women deserve for asking for the vote??
It's a popular view amongst the really tedious type of misogynist: 'if you silly girls hadn't tried to get out of the box we put you in and just done what you were told, this never would have happened to you'.

Which shows you really what kind of a person supports this, and just how useful genderism is to misogynists who now have a virtuous way to be sexist and enjoy seeing females lose. Seeing them lose and have less and suffer actually does seem to be becoming a required part of this agenda; it's not done properly until females are excluded and oppressed.

No 'equality' or actual 'inclusion' (or 'kindness') anywhere to be seen. Those are things females have to give to their betters or else.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 14/12/2021 09:08

Yep, never happens. He definitely wasn't, in the brave words of our new terven sister, planning to join the number of "those cis men who are exploiting selfID". Definitely not, because that would never happen!

Grumpyosaurus · 14/12/2021 08:49

But, @PurgatoryOfPotholes, IT NEVER HAPPENS!!

You are obviously imagining it all...

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 14/12/2021 08:42

I've found another one of those men who supports mixed-sex toilets and changing rooms, and who may have ulterior motives in doing so!

Former Manchester Labour councillor Carl Ollerhead, who said that males have a right to access women's and girls' toilets has been charged with indecently assaulting a girl under the age of 16

When someone starts on their transition route, they have to live as their desired sex and one of the things doctors tell them, is to use the women's loos, dressing rooms etc. This is under the radar stuff, done without the permission of women and been going on for years. I think our agreement was never sought because in the early days, this was thought to relate to only about 5000 trans-sexual people (surgery and all). The reality is turning out to be a very different kettle of fish.
We have to get these additional gender neutral loos happening pretty damned quick. We need male/female and gender neutral and that is my only compromise.'

  • GRC? Transition? Old hat. Irrelevant to this.

If in anything previously single sex with a female/ woman sign. And you are male. Irrespective of anything else.

Then women/girls are instructed to assume they are where they should be.
Any hint of even a slight ??? is cruel, othering and bigoted.
Even a slight indication of doubt is an expression of hate.
Be nice.

  • Additional gender neutral loos? You mean unisex.

And we need to do this? Women? Need to get them? Who is we? Trans orgs have have not been agitating for this at all. Unisex is outing, othering, stating tw are different to women.
It's everything that was single sex, being opened up to any male who fancies coming in.
Nothing else will do.

And. How? Who pays? Bogs cost money. Public toilets being decimated for years and years, council save money, women and girls hugely impacted compared to men. Urinary leash getting tighter, gradually.

Loads of places short on space. Save money and gain space? Very appealing to certain businesses.
Been in restaurants and other places where it's obvious were two sets. Now one. All gender sign. Inside gappy cubicles. Once a man radiating really fucked off I was there.

Those things won't come back.

"**
Both sexes want single sex. The vast majority.
That's been in place and accepted fine for years and years.
Huge social convention to adhere.
Great.

Changing that to single GENDER. No warning no agreement no nothing.

And then having to fight to get what everyone had until 5 mins ago.

That's shit.

CheeseMmmm · 14/12/2021 01:53

@Helleofabore

And isn’t it far better that a journalist explores this issue and brings it to wide attention before a woman or child is harmed ? Not quite sure what catherina is implying but surely it could not be denying that ALL males commit sex crime at a significantly higher rate to females.

Tell you what catherina, if you are positing that a subset of males are risk free, please provide the supporting statistics.

Otherwise, you are simply endorsing future harm for women and girls and you should own that.

Too late for that unfortunately.
CheeseMmmm · 14/12/2021 01:52

I think some posters have misunderstood my posts!

Use of language is appropriate to the context. Obv I wasn't clear enough!

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 13/12/2021 15:36

Too stupid to realise the difference between women wanting equal access to domains where sex should be irrelevant, vs the few cases where sex does matter.

I would say that thery aren't too stupid... just angry and misogynist. But I have a BIL who is just too fucking stupid, as well as being an angry misogynist. Not known on here, and in my real life for about 35 years, as BoneheadBIL for nothing Smile

RoyalCorgi · 13/12/2021 15:26

Is he one of those cis men who are exploiting selfID to sht stir? Seems men are the problem, rather than trans women.*

Interesting question. You know all those rapists and sex offenders who are currently identifying as trans women? The ones who are referred to as "she" in court and sometimes get lighter sentences because of their struggles with gender dysphoria? Who sometimes even end up in women's jails?

Do you reckon they are genuine trans women, or men who are shit stirring?

The DM comments often attract tedious MRA types. Too stupid to realise the difference between women wanting equal access to domains where sex should be irrelevant, vs the few cases where sex does matter.
Outdoorbeanbags · 13/12/2021 14:03

I think all of this does unmask the truth, that many men do not believe that women have a right to anything of their own, except that which men give them. Whether that’s a vote, equal pay, privacy to get changed…

Is he one of those cis men who are exploiting selfID to sh*t stir? Seems men are the problem, rather than trans women.
No. Next stupid question?
Helleofabore · 13/12/2021 10:19

Yes Fetchez.

I can only assume that Catherina is not saying she would prefer to wait for someone to get harmed first before highlighting the risk.

FetchezLaVache · 13/12/2021 10:12

I'd just like to add my own response to @CatherinaJTV's epic self-own!

Better a man (I won't use the C word) exploiting self ID to shit stir than a man exploiting self ID for voyeuristic purposes and worse.

Sophoclesthefox · 13/12/2021 10:01

No danger of cathcoming back to this thread, they’ve accidentally pulled a card out of the base of their house of cards and are frantically racing around trying to stop the whole thing falling over 🤣

Go on, Cath, prove me wrong, there’s a poppet Grin

@CatherinaJTV

Yes @CatherinaJTV he is. And isn't it interesting that you can see that in this instance?

Welcome to the Other Side Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 13/12/2021 09:25

Sure, the journalist was 'stirring shit'.

But that's one of the valid, useful functions of journalists. They don't make the shit. In this case the shit that needs stirring, to raise a big stink, is that self ID lets any male, for whatever reason have access to the single sex spaces women need.

Trans women like Miranda Yardley quoted in the article, aren't the problem. Miranda has a mature understanding and respect for women's rights.

HotPenguin · 13/12/2021 09:25

Good work by the Daily Mail. I doubt there ever was a strict policing of shop changing rooms to stop all trans people entering, but in the past an obvious man wanting to go in them would have been considered weird and pervy. Now a man wanting to go in the women's changing rooms can be woke, right on and a champion for trans rights.

titchy · 13/12/2021 09:25

I'm genuinely surprised Catherina hasn't come back to this thread. They're normally pretty quick to respond. Is it too much to hope that they're finally realising what the issue is? Or maybe busy baking. 🤷‍♀️
