Bravissima 👏👏👏👏👏

AdaFuckingShelby · 10/12/2021 22:27

Woop woop. Well said. I now identify as a biological realist Grin

Rightsraptor · 10/12/2021 22:08

I've never heard of race realism. Going to look it up.

BlackForestCake · 10/12/2021 22:07

No, it isn't at all. But the phrases are too similar.

MichelleScarn · 10/12/2021 21:52

Posted before I saw forests post.
Is it? Is saying biology is real akin to racist supremacy?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 10/12/2021 21:51

@BlackForestCake

No, don’t start saying “biological realism”.

It is too close to “race realism” which is a euphemism used by pseudoscientific racists.

It would be a propaganda gift to the T/MRA.

Damn. That’s a good point.
MichelleScarn · 10/12/2021 21:46

Biological Realist here.

BettyFilous · 10/12/2021 21:44

That was a good speech.

Biological realism it is then.

LightningJenny · 10/12/2021 21:05

This is just fantastic!

[On another note I'm new here - I have been sitting at home increasingly worried I am some kind of bigot, and finding a place where people openly and sensibly express what I have been thinking for (months? years!?) is such a relief. You are all amazing!]

Cuck00soup · 10/12/2021 20:56

Well isn't she the dogs bollocks?

samsalmon · 10/12/2021 20:56

Amazing. There is hope.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 10/12/2021 20:41

Yes please to biological realist. I'm one of them.

oxalisRed · 10/12/2021 20:39

@LonginesPrime

I really like the term "biological realist" as an alternative to "gender critical" - it shifts the focus to exactly where it should be and makes a much stronger statement.
Oooh yes, I'm going to use biological realist from now on. Cuts to the point.
BrideofAberdeen · 10/12/2021 20:39

Thanks both, I am just at 1103 and had one Kathleen Stock mention, might skip through to 1140. Really interesting.
Thank you so much for posting

Tobogganist · 10/12/2021 20:28

Brilliant

Motorina · 10/12/2021 20:27

@LonginesPrime very much agree.

In theory I favour democracy. Then I compare the caliber of people in the House of Lords, and Bojo and his mob, and I wonder...

Here's a manually-fixed direct link. Looks like Hansard's "copy link" button is buggy. (Insert grumble about it being a sign of the times - didn't used to have this problem back in the 19th century Envy).

Sorry, yes that didn't work, did it?

Scroll down to 11.40 am

Please could someone help me find it on Hansard, I can’t get the link to work. Thank you.

Helleofabore · 10/12/2021 20:02

Bloody brilliant!!!

ArabellaScott · 10/12/2021 19:47

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

Are there any Lib Dems or Greens standing up for women's rights like this?

Even in devolved parliaments?

Greens: Shahrar Ali.

Lib Dems: Baroness Sarah Ludford.

There may be more, those are two who spring to mind.

There were quite a few references to Kathleen Stock, JKR, LGB Alliance and others in the speeches by several members of the HoL - the link from @ArabellaScott is worth a perusal
