If a general election was called, who would you vote for?

Or really, who can I vote for? I don’t want to vote Tory, especially after today’s revelations. I also don’t feel happy voting Labour or Green, for reasons often discussed on this board. Is there a party you’d feel happy to vote to be in power if you had a chance to, say, tomorrow? Feeling pretty despondent

Would vote Conservative.

Booklover3 · 08/12/2021 01:20

I feel quite politically homeless at the moment to be honest.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 08/12/2021 01:10

@TreborBore

If Tory is your idea of the best then you have extremely low standards.
I was thinking just that too Smile Also maybe it's just me but if I was thinking everything Tory went against everything I believe in (Eg too right wing) but I agreed with them on one single topic, I'd be stopping and thinking about that a little bit?

Tory. Best out of a very shit bunch. It's not saying much.

jeannie46 · 08/12/2021 00:41

Conservatives - never, brutal policies (v poor etc.) from millionaires if not billionaires!
Lib Dems - never again, barefaced bunch of liars. They have no shame.
Greens - wishy washy, no policies on lots of stuff.
Labour ( with a peg on my nose) because they are the only ones who can oust this immoral Government.
Communist Party of Britain - possibly if they stand here as they defend women.

Come to Scotland and vote for wee Nicola 😊 still not an angel in my eyes but she’s a trier so she gets my vote

PermanentTemporary · 08/12/2021 00:30

In this constituency probably Lib Dem. Despite everything that's wrong with them. I would vote Labour if it wasn't handing a seat straight to Johnson.

Triphazards · 08/12/2021 00:29

I don't support them like a football team, but yeah Tory appears to be a party less mad than Labour, at the moment.

CheeseMmmm · 08/12/2021 00:27

I'd read up on the campaign stuff of female candidates for my preferred parties.

And Google. Maybe contact and ask views on sex/ gender.

If any were sensible vote for them.

Failing preferred parties would read up etc on other female candidates.

This is after all about constituency, one mp. And they are not all agreed etc with party line across the board.

Fact is that-
I'm in safe Tory seat been 40 years or more even.
Tories will get in unless labour make huge changes in loads of ways and they're enough to make them seem cohesive, sensible, trustworthy, etc and with wide appeal.
Given that pigs can't fly. Well. I mean they're a total disaster in almost every way I can think of and have been getting worse not better. They're fucked.

So given Tory win pretty dead cert. Vote for your constuency. If some look ok pick a woman!

(That's a blue touchpaper comment, the last bit, I know!).

Enough4me · 08/12/2021 00:19

For people saying Labour, are you ignoring the part where they think women can be an idea in a man's head and not biological reality?

It's pushed me away from them, but I wish Rosie Duffield would lead them back to reality!

catzwhiskas · 08/12/2021 00:19

I would quite like to vote for the whistleblower at the Foreign office, who at least is a hard worker and has some ethics, unlike most of the actual politicians .

ISpyCobraKai · 08/12/2021 00:18

I'd spoil.
I'm in Scotland.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 08/12/2021 00:05

Am a Labour Party member but spoiled my ballot last time as cannot vote for a party that wants to damage women and girls. Clearly cannot vote for Boris’s Tory party. But some Tories get it about women’s rights. Literally don’t know what to do.

Atla · 07/12/2021 23:59

I'm in NI so SDLP.
If I was on the mainland.... Lib dem is my 'natural' party but they pretty much imploded. Dunno. Not conservative.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 07/12/2021 23:58

Labour.

Seroi · 07/12/2021 23:51

Labour.

daisyjgrey · 07/12/2021 23:46

@Triphazards

Tory seems the most sensible way to vote. I'd go with that.

What!

BreadInCaptivity · 07/12/2021 23:45

Another who will vote by candidate.

I'm done with ruining my vote as an ex-LP member.

If that's a vote for the Conservatives, I'll make my peace with that but I'm hoping for an independent or someone left leaning who knows which sex has a cervix.

HorsdoeuvresInTheGarage · 07/12/2021 23:41

SDP

Enough4me · 07/12/2021 23:37

Unsure as I cannot support TWAW as I know TWATW and still male.

Mochudubh · 07/12/2021 23:34

@TheMarzipanDildo

I used my list vote for the Communist Party of Great Britain in the most recent elections in Scotland. Mainstream Grin

It’s difficult, isn’t it?

I've pretty much voted SNP most of my adult life, because I want Scotland to be independent. Since coming into power in Scotland, despite the set-up supposed to stop any one party having a majority, the SNP have had to scramble for other policies, And in a bid to keep voters have swallowed Kool-aid wholesale.

I've looked into other parties, I considered the Socialist Workers, but reading their blurb they've totally gone down the TWAW rabbit hole, so currently the Communists seem to be the only ones standing up for women. Unless anything changes the Communists will be getting my vote.

Anothernamechange3 · 07/12/2021 23:15

I just need to hope that the visibility of the issues and the more mainstream press coverage that seems to be happening will mean there will be a party I’m happy to support by the time 2024 comes along. Am I naive or do things seem a bit more hopeful than they did two years ago? (not better, but more hopeful)
